    2. OW! That sounds horrible!

I've had a really bad pinch while dressing a doll that left a mark for months, or the time an s-hook slipped and dug into my hand. The absolute worst is that I did faceups without a proper mask for awhile, and now I have a cough that won't go away. I've had a mask for several years now, but the damage has been done.

    3. Oh dear... I'm either very unlucky or very clumsy :) things I can think of from the top of my head:

      - thumb torn by s hook
      - accident while sanding, resulting in breathing in a cloud of resin (luckily, still not dead)
      - cut hand with exacto knife while modding a vinyl doll
      - fingers stuck together by super glue
      - oh, and super glue on pants, and phone (the cap flew off)

    4. My Abadon is 70 cm of big body beautiful boy doll. While dressing him he kicked and headbutt me in the face and busted my upper lip. It bled and was swollen for over a week.

    5. I've ripped a fingernail half off while trying to remove a head cap that was held on with VERY strong elastic. I never got it off, even to this day! I still have that doll 8 years later :)

I had a 90cm doll that was strung really tightly with super thick elastic. I was trying to remove his head and I was sitting on the foot of the bed, facing towards the bed. The doll was laying on the bed & I was using my feet to hold him down while I used pliers to pull up his s hook. The pliers slipped, cracking me violently in the face as I flew backwards off the bed, hitting my head on the dresser that faces the bed. I had a bruise on my nose & forehead and a lump on the back of my head for days. That doll was traded soon after. I can forgive a lot from a doll, but I draw the line at serious head injuries LOL!

    6. About a week ago I was restringing my Unoa & ended up bleeding.

I now understand why companies sell restringing tools.

    7. I almost broke my hand trying to keep my doll from tumbling. I did break a nail though, and it actually hurt D: besides that my doll kicks me a lot, just normal dolly abuse.

    8. When I got my first BJD (Asleep Eidolon Dolly, Abigail), I was playing around with her chest joint and the company had her so tightly strung that when the joint snapped back in place, my right index finger was pinched to the point of blistering.

    9. I got a couple broken nails from restringing my girl. I have had kicks to the face and fingers pinched by joints as well. My girl also did something to my friend. She just got a tattoo and she was holding Lorelei(my girl) and she fell against where her tattoo was. Naughty girl! I apologized so many times

    10. I was pinched so hard by my first doll's pelvic joint that it cut off the circulation to my index finger. Freak accident? Yup. Let's just say I was all too happy to sell her afterwards. It's also a major reason I avoid dolls that only have 3-piece bodies or only pelvic joints now.

    11. I was fixing floor level cabinet doors and my doll was on a doll stand above. I figured that I would hardly shake my cabinet and that my dolls look stable. I think I was being slightly lazy or maybe tired that day. I was screwing hard and I stopped because I realized I was shaking the cabinet hard because I was rushing. I looked up to see if the dolls are ok and my favorite doll was already at an angle and falling off. They were not in the empty cabinet as I had them above on the outside. This felt like slow motion I swear. My doll was falling and I thought quickly to hold out my hands and close my eyes. So I threw my screw driver across the floor and did so. My doll was high enough to split my lip from the inside. I don't know how but it did. My eyes were closed, thank goodness, but I don't know what felt horrible and poked me in the eye. It still hurt. I think I sat there for 15 minutes just lost. I always move my dolls from now on if they are in my way. I don't care if I am tired or lazy.

    12. This thread isn't even a page long yet, and it's already scaring me! :shudder

The worst injury I've had so far was just your typical cut-off circulation from trying to put a head back on. It's always been Amri - but that's because he's the only one that ever needs his head taken off, so I don't blame him personally, lol.

    13. I always seem to injure myself when I'm restringing. But nothing as dramatic and painful as some of the injuries others are experiencing. Yipes!

I hurt myself recently when I tried to remove the head of my newest doll, Bobobie Apollo, so I could tighten his strings.
I usually have no problem removing heads, because all you have to do is turn the S-hook so it slips down in the groove and the head pops off. easy as pie, right? However, I'm going through chemo therapy right now and have developed neuropathy in my hands. My fingers are tingly and partially numb. But I thought I could still do Apollo's head. It was being stubborn because the eastic was double knotted for some reason. I couldn't get the knots through with my hand, so I grabbed the s-hook with a pair of needlenose pliars. I was pulling hard trying to get the s-hook to turn, and suddenly the pliars slipped off and my hand came up and smacked me in the nose. Fortunately the pliars fell to the floor, and didn't hit my face. No blood, but my nose still hurt like heck.

I realized I'd better leave the restringing until my neuropathy is gone. That could be months, which makes me mad, cuz I am dying to work on my new doll. :(

    14. omg i read all of your experiences and the only thing i can say is that sometimes my 32s bodies tend to bite! thats a little painful haha

    15. Ugggghhh, broken and torn nails from restringing accidents, untold number of bruises and bites from torso joints, cuts all over my hands from restringing and modding accidents, and I punched myself in the face and busted my lip once when restringing and my hand slipped. TnT I actually punch myself in the face quite a lot during restringing, but I usually don't draw blood. @_@

I need to start wearing a helmet when I restring a doll, apparently!

    16. After reading all these accidents I feel like mine is not even a injury :nowords:
I was changing my yosd's hand part and I was rushing a little since my hands sweat a lot and the string was slowly slipping off. I tried to find the hand part I was going to put on and while I was searching for it the string just gave up and the s-hook went right onto my finger and then slipped off and scraped my skin open.
Luckily it's just the top layer of skin so my finger didn't bleed, it recovered after a few days:)
There's other times where I had been pinched and bited from the joints but they didn't injured me so it isn't a big deal.

    17. One time I was modding my doll but sawing off her boobs, I cut my finger to the bone, didn't even notice til I started bleeding on her, and at that point I was too worried it would stain!!

    18. I don't think I've received any serious injuries from my dolls, just a few pinches from fingers being caught in joints.

A friend however received a doll from Fairyland that was stupidly tightly restrung and when she unstrung it to put new elastics in it she noticed that whichever poor employee at Fairyland had been tasked with stringing her doll must have caught a finger because there was blood all over the elastics! :O

    19. Definitely every time I restring my dolls huehuehue :( There was one time that a portion of my nail literally got ripped off. Also, my RS boy is really floppy and whenever I play with him and I come close to him, sometimes his knees would bend and hit me in my face.

    20. I once got an s-hook lodged UNDER my thumbnail while restringing, purely due to my own carelessness. I passed out three times before my mom managed to cut me loose (literally. She took a pair of scissors to the elastic). The doll was jinxed, I swear. A later restringing attempt left me with (thankfully temporary) nerve damage in my hand. Needless to say, that doll is no longer with me....
