Dollshe and the sculptor may not advertise his products on this forum. Sales may not be discussed, no news threads may be posted regarding new releases. This ban does not impact any dolls by Dollshe ordered by November 8, 2023. Any dolls ordered after November 8, 2023, regardless of the date the sculpt was released, are banned from this forum as are any dolls released under his new or future companies including but not limited to Club Coco BJD.     1. I haven't been on this forum for a number of years and the rules don't even mention "necroing" threads, so if this is already a thing or if I should have just posted to an old thread, please go ahead and delete/close this.

      Assuming that this thread gets the OK, I thought it might be fun/useful to have a thread where people can discuss characters and maybe find inspiration. Can't think of a satisfactory backstory? Need a cool name for your next doll? Is your character lacking the personality you desire and you don't know how to fix it? Discuss!

      I'll start... I've got a deer man in my head with tree-like antlers that grow leaves and blossoms and berries in the spring and summer, have reddish brown leaves in the autumn, and become barren in the winter. I want for his hair to be more like thick vines - maybe dreadlocks? Personality-wise, he's a wanderer, both physically and mentally. He likes to go on hikes and nature walks and paint what he sees. Mentally, he can come off as kinda flakey and unfocused because his mind is always wandering. He loses interest in/focus on things easily, so for some things, he can be a little irresponsible.... You'll send him out to do an errand and then you'll find him, hours later, having forgotten the errand entirely because he got distracted by butterflies (and he can sit so still that they perch on his antlers like he really is a tree). He's the type of person who would bring home any stray cat or abandoned baby animal he sees, but oddly enough, he'll suddenly become reasonably responsible when it comes to caring for his new little baby. Lol Oddly enough, he would make a good father or even an older brother. So far, my guy has no name. Nothing seems to fit well. A lot of the "magical" kinds of names stem from European cultures/mythology and they just don't fit. Actually, human names in general don't seem to fit. So, I think I'm looking for either a rare name or a fantasy name, preferably with a cool nickname (this name can be human-sounding).

    2. I made up a name, Zhavriel, just because I like the sounds in it, I keep trying to use it for one of my own dolls, but so far it hasn't stuck, so may I offer it? Zav, Ray, or El would all work as nick names for it. I pronounce it Zav -ray-el in my head. Or how about Kapetca, or Bleuruimish, or Azurpof or Zapaeloc?.... which I just made up.

    3. Personally, I've always like the name Casper. It reminds me of whimsical things, and it sounds slightly fantastical. Reading your background story, it reminded me of Narnia. Perhaps you could try looking there for some names?

There's several threads around here where people are discussing their sources of inspiration already, as well.

      I still have to order him. He's going to be my first dol! :) I'm still trying to figure out his hair and get him clothes (so he doesn't have to sit around naked, although to be honest, I don't think he'd be particularly shy about it LOL).

    7. I love anything British. My dolls are divided into 2 families, one being Irish and the other being English. I wrote backstories for both families and even created detailed family trees for them going back several generations. I'm researching my own family's history, and we come from Ireland, so that was my inspiration.

      A future project I'm planning is to create a room box which looks like a traditional Japanese home. I don't have a doll for it yet, but I know I would like it to be an MSD size boy. I bought some Japanese kimono fabric that I want to use to make futon bedding for the room, and another piece for his clothing. A long time ago I had a collection of Japanese miniatures, and I created a room box in dollhouse size to display them. I no longer have that, so I would like to re-create it for a bjd.
