1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Interchangeable storage/display cubes?

Nov 11, 2015

    1. I have a wildly eclectic mix of bjds. Some are glamour, some fairies, some characters, and all different sizes! My big girls have beautiful outfits and they are all mushed up always sitting. They do not display well all mixed up in one area and I don't have all that much space. I would like a separate unit for each different 'style'. Years and years ago you could buy these storage pieces that all worked together. They had basic open front cubes or rectangles that you could stack different ways. You could also buy shelves or drawers to fit into the basic units. I am not in a large city so finding something like this has not been successful. It would have to be off the shelf as they were made of pressboard so were heavy and shipping cost would be prohibitive. Has anyone in the U.S. seen anything like this recently? Maybe like for college dorms? Thanks for your help!

    2. Ikea sell a modular storage system kind of like you describe, the IKEA PS 2014 series -- I checked and it's on their US website as well, so that might be an idea?

    3. Yep. That sounds like IKEA's cubes... Even if there's no store anywhere close to you, things can be ordered and shipped from their web site.

    4. Check Home Depot or Lowe's, too - I just bought an eight-cube unit sold as a closet organizer (Closetmaid) to house some of my crew. I don't have it assembled yet, or I'd post pics.

    5. You can also buy crates from any craft store or even most flea markets. They come in many sizes, stack well in many ways, and are generally cheap and easy to find.

    6. Thanks for your ideas! Ikea is over 200 miles away and if I remember rather pricey? Hmmmm closet organizer.....maybe! I'll check Lowe's the next time I get to make a trip to the 'big city'. Biggest problem is going to be those big 24" girls! Right now I am limited to having only one or two at the most out at a time.

    7. Do you have a Target in your area? I got 2 9 cube units there.

    8. Not exactly what you're looking for, but what I have is a chest of drawers for mine, and each doll's personal clothing and items is in a shoebox sized tub with their name on it. The larger, nicer pieces are on doll sized hangers in the closet. My closet has the wire shelving with the thin bar attached under it, which is the perfect size for doll hangers to fit. If you choose to go the hanging route, you can get hangers on ebay for fairly cheap.
