1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Iplehouse Discussion (YID, nYID, SID, EID, HID) Part 13

Sep 8, 2021

    1. I decided to try out Mari's posing for a buddy (nSID body, peach gold resin). Man. I forgot what a PITA these bodies are to move.
      Clothed:

      Posing in spoiler.
Arms are great. It's everything else that's a total pain.

Getting those thigh joints to turn felt like war.

Kneeling wasn't happening, but I did get this pose - after several minutes...

      Side bend

Back bend (she needed the arms for support)

Forward bend - surprisingly difficult to do? Her chest did NOT want to move.

      Still gorgeous, tho.

    2. Also picked up some cheap doll stands ($4 each). For the cost, they aren't bad, but I definitely need to glue them to something heavy. Those little plastic discs aren't made to counterbalance the weight of a 1/3 scale resin doll.

    3. Interesting about the stands. My son did say he would be willing to give it a try to make my big dolls some stands but I haven't seen any activity yet LOL Good idea to glue the lightweight base to something heavier.

    4. I have three of those stands that @MaleficentMrsofEvil is showing and agree
that they are WAY too lightweight for a 1:3 resin body. I tried one for my
Dollstown Elf (52.5cm) and didn’t feel she was secure either. I use them only
for my vinyl SmartDoll gals - and even there the stands are ‘too light’. The
plastic bases can be warped, the top (saddle part) comes off when picking the
doll up, and sometimes the clamp that ‘holds’ the pole just lets go.

As in so many things, you get what you pay for! Wish they were a better
made item. I had one that came with a shiny metal base - but it wasn’t
any better for stability. I’d found them on Amazon also at a low price.

I hope that your son comes up with a brilliant idea for a large doll stand @LyanneNZ
That trench coat that you made for Vera is amazing!!! She’s a beautiful gal!
I sure do like having my dolls on solid stands - earthquake country here….

    5. How beautiful your girls are and what hands you have for making them clothes I only have a rolling head from Iplehouse that I bought second hand from a Rex. I'm waiting to see if I can find her body, one from SartoriaJ, but it's hard to do.....

    6. So if your son is really thinking about it, there are a couple options, so long as he's willing to make a trip to the local hardware/building supplies/craft store.
Wood base, wood dowel, and wood bead: glue dowel into wood base (also a good idea to drill a small hole in the wood base to insert dowel before gluing). Cut dowel to desired height. Glue wood bead (with hole in the center) to top of dowel, and run a ribbon through the bead. Tie ribbon around doll waist to hold in place. Lomi's Playground has a YouTube tutorial here.
Wood base, metal tube, and wire hanger: drill hole into wood base and glue in metal tube. Bend a wire hanger into either a waist hugger or a saddle stand. Antique Lilac has a tutorial for how to shape a hanger into a waist hugger here. Instead of putting it in the ground, you would put the end into the tube. Xanadu Dolls has a tutorial on how to shape into a saddle stand here. Xanadu uses aluminum wire, but (1) wire hangers are cheaper, and (2) wire hangers are also stiffer and don't flex as much, so they can hold the weight of a doll better.
I've looked at 3D print options, but I haven't seen anything I'm in love with yet.

I, however, am lazy. I would rather spend $3-$4 and just glue the plastic disc to something heavy.

    7. Yeah basically, my nSID Soo I just have sitting pretty for that reason

    8. Are you at all thinking of selling her? I have wanted a Soo since the nSID happened. For some reason, I have pretty great posing with this body. I do tighten bodies a lot and use thicker elastic if I can get it through the knees and elbows.

    9. I'm afraid not, she’s pretty integral to my crew, but I actually saw one for sale on marketplace

    12. Thanks @MaleficentMrsofEvil I think he was planning on using metal and welding parts. They may end up quite industrial looking. I am not sure if he will ever actually get to this though. I will keep trying ;) I have some older lovely wooden saddle stands that were made by Reba of Finishing Touches and I'd love something like those. She also made adjustable ones later that work well and I have some of those too.

I like the idea of using the wire from metal coat hangers as a saddle or waist grabbing stand...and feeding that into a tube. I think if I were to present an idea, measurements and plans to him of something quite specific my chances might be better. Thank you again!

My Andrei (SID Omar mod) are finally home <3 Well, he's been home a little while, but he's finally here :) Above is a before and after image. It's the corners of his mouth that's been modded. And that brown mark on his forehead is a birth mark.

I did a mistake though when I sent him for a faceup. I only sendt an image reference of him in the wig he currently had before the long one in this image. Pretty similar color though, but my images seem to show the wig color I in different ways from shot to shot, and different screens may display the color of a wig differently as well. For example the long ginger wig in the image above shows completely different in color on Luts's site, much more similar to the color of his eyebrows. The painter only had my one image as a reference, so the color of his brows got more red than it should. I should have sent with him the wig instead so that the painter had a proper color reference to look at.

But anyways we have talked about it and while I send my DC Irma head to him later for a faceup, I will also send back Andrei with his wig, to have the brows fixed. So for now I see no point in gluing in his eyelashes just yet when he's going back anyways for brow color adjustment. The painter will also be able to glue the lashes I got for me.

Besides my mistake to not send the wig with Andrei, I love him :D Finally he's the ginger he's long been meant to be :3nodding:

    15. BIG KITTY ALERT.
I am getting a nice work bonus, and I am going to treat myself (after a very hard, long year) with a big kitty. Specifically, Iplehouse's puma, which is currently open and available for sale on their website.

They stressed to me many times (and so I am telling you) that they do not offer any blushing on their pets. They had problems with getting the paint to stick, so they don't want to deal with that again.

At 62 cm long, these kitties are as long as the SID and YID dolls are tall, lol. BIG KITTY. YESSSSSSS. :dance:celebrate:dance:celebrate

    16. Exciting! Yes my beagle paint was not “fixed.” I think it was 4-5 years ago. So I resprayed msc on it and it seems to have held up.

    18. @MaleficentMrsofEvil Welcome to big kitty club.
Reminds I should do more with my panther. I love it to bits, but I never seem to do much with mine.
