1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Iplehouse Discussion (YID, nYID, SID, EID, HID) Part 13

Sep 8, 2021

    1. I'm certain there are lots of tutorials for basic handsewing on YouTube! It's also a nice skill to have if you need/want to mend a piece of clothing. ^^

I've sewn tucks into wigs that are too large to get them to fit as well. Wig caps are usually made up of 3 pieces -- 2 side pieces and a center piece. I usually just flip the wig inside out and pinch the wig at each seam and do a straight stitch with a needle and thread starting from the bottom of the wig and work my way to the crown. If I end up not liking it, or I either took in too much or too little, I can just snip the thread and pull it out. I actually don't put too much thought into to doing the stitches neatly or even, since it's on the inside of the wig and won't be seen. :)

      ~*~

With that said, my Vanessa arrived back home today from the faceup artist. I just wanted to share a photo of her like she's my firstborn child because I am floored by this doll right now. :fangirl:

    2. Oh she's lovely @Quirked. I love that goth/punk girl style she has, her lip color is just fantastic!

    3. Thanks for the reply :) I actually did not find much on resizing BJD wigs on YouTube, I found 2 different videos. And the rest were how to resize human wigs. But I'm sure it won't be too hard. One of the videos at least gave me an idea of how I could do it. And like you said it is definitely a skill that is worth having.

Your girl look really cool :) Do you style the hair in place a lot before taking images?

I feel like my images get so untidy. Strands of hair going everywhere :sweat The doll always look fine before I take the image, but then there are strands of hair showing up in the image where they shouldn't XD Could be my camera because I use an old phone camera and iPad camera. The flash always make the image look worse!

    4. @Tippetarius - Thank you! I adore how her lips came out, the artist did a fantastic job! I think this doll might have the biggest inspo board I've made on Pinterest, and has more items that inspire me more than the boards for some of my other dolls. I've really got the zoomies about her right now :sweat

@manabusama - One thing I will say is try not to get too frustrated if it doesn't work on your first try! Handsewing takes some practice. A good pair of small, sharp scissors and a seam ripper would be useful to have. :)

And thank you! I do spend a little bit of time styling the hair before pictures. What I usually do is take the wig off and lightly mist it with water and brush/comb it. I also usually take my pictures next to a window in the daytime to try to avoid using flash. A ring light or lamp with a daylight bulb might help with lighting. ^^

    5. I have 0 interest in sewing myself, so I envy people who have that interest. To be able to sew anything for my doll would have been something, but going outfit hunting online can be fun too. A little bit of stitching in the back of a wig does not sound too hard at least XD

Although I've been in the hobby a while, I haven't been the most active image poster, or doll hair styler :sweat I do have chronic fatigue (ME/CFS), and that have kept me from doing a lot of things in the hobby. Hair styling is one of those things. I ususally stuck to decorating with hair clips, bands and hair ties, and just hoped for the best with the hair while taking images

I know it's just an image of their arms, but my boys got their couple bracelets today. And I can't get over how amazing the Ebony Skin are :D

    7. I got my Mari and Scarlet (and Granado Noah) back on camera despite the long string of unfinished projects. Been very busy with work and other stuff, so hadn't been giving the dolls too much attention. :sweat

    9. Asking this question about the blank auction dolls:
For the blank auction dolls, can a faceup be purchased separately at an additional cost?

    12. Officially joining this thread. After a long time of longing I finally decided to order my grail sculpt iplehouse SID Claude. I have own 3 iplehouse bjds before but one was a JID size and the other two FID size. I had an iplehouse fid Claude si e 2019 and I loved him, but he was so small for me. So I end up selling him last year, and I always planned to order a SID Claude, but other dolls I really wanted got in the way

But finally today I decided I need it my hunk boy back in a bigger size. God willing I will get him soon. Do you guys know how long the waiting time for iplehouse is now days?

    13. I just finished a new gown for my hybrid Siean Elf on the *wonderful* Iplehouse
SID body - still my favorite doll body. This is the first time Siean has tried a
gown in a color other than blue or green. I do love this raspberry dance fabric,
not 100% sure that it is Siean’s color tho.

    14. It's a very pretty dress even if Siean isn't sure about the color.

    15. @Robyn_in_WA I know you love your blondes, but maybe a brunette wig would help? I love this dress color. Absolutely stunning.

    16. Hmmm... I'd say around 3 months. Your boy might pop up suddenly at your house, be aware! (When I last ordered, Iplehouse didn't send any delivery notice so I got pretty suprised when the postman rang, holding an Iplehouse size-ish box).

Anyway, congratulations on Claude! I wanna get him too because I love his smile!:love

    17. Thank you. I hope to get him before or by my birthday:)

I know I love his smile so much too. He just has a sweet smile. I’m so excited to see him in SID size. The fit was gorgeous I’m sure the bigger one will be even better because you will see the factions more detail :)

    18. Would you please let us know what they say? I'm curious now, too.

    19. Head's up (eh heh heh) - after the EID buy-a-head sale ends, Iplehouse said that they're opening up HID buy-a-head.
