1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Iplehouse EID and SID Discussion Part 16

Jan 22, 2015

1. Raffine OMG Raffine those dresses OMG

2. OMG she's so beautiful it's kind of painful o.O

3. in that case he's fine resin wise. the white and NS didn't change... and if you want to 'mellow' the new feet to match just hang em in a window full of sun for a few days lol

4. Do you know who the original owner was? Iple may be willing to provide a replacement part (rather than having to buy new feet), but it has to be the person who bought the doll from them making the request.

For fixing the foot as-is -- what part is broken? The foot itself, or anything that holds tension from the elastic?

If it's just toes or something, I use superglue for small breaks, specifically Loctite Ultra Gel, because it has a very easy-to-control dispensing mechanism.

If it's a part that has tension, I recommend using a 2-part epoxy for greater strength -- I generally use Apoxie Sculpt, although I know people have also gotten good results with Milliput (I've only used Milliput for mods, so I can't swear to it -- but Apoxie Sculpt is really strong.)

Oh -- be aware that the just-released NEW EID Man feet are slightly larger than the originals, which may affect shoe fit. You can still get "Old" EID Man feet parts on the site, just make sure you're picking the right one (it's on the second page of option parts.)

5. Zais is this where his foot broke? This was my fix for an old Noctarcana Yur--some of the feet just were prone to breaking then:

I should add that it helps to make a tiny starter hole--I have a set of French hand drills (that are also great for pierced ears), but tiny nail scissors can get you started too. Needle nose pliers should be passed out with every bjd, too.

6. Wow fishcake - that was an amazing repair job! Great photos to explain it too!
the way you did it looks like the original Volks hooks. Way to go!!

It totally agree with Ashbet - Apoxie Sculpt is brilliant for fixes that need strength too.
I've used it for years to mod things and to reinforce weak areas and to make new parts too.
Apoxie sculpt is available in a number of colors and in various size containers.
It lasts a very long time especially when stored in refrig or freezer too!

7. I had good luck fixing my NC Yur by just supergluing the resin hook back on. However, with my NC Luna they broke again but since that happened close to when she was released I could order new feet without a problem.

8. Robyn_in_WA where are you buying your apoxie sculpt? I looked at Dick Blick, Michaels, JoAnne's and the local Hobby Lobby and none of them had it :( I have a list of things I want to try with it...

9. That's where his foot broke. I was careless when I was putting him in his bag. :doh

10. Zais, it's not you--I think the crack starts tiny and then migrates (it's under pressure all the time). Mine fell off in the box. :o

11. Hi fishcake - I get my Apoxie Sculpt directly from Aves Studio - they ship reallly fast too!
https://www.avesstudio.com/apoxie/apoxie-sculpt
and from them, there are lots of sizes available!
Hope this helps - if you need help - email me and I'll try to help out.

12. Oh, I didn't know I could buy it direct--thank you so much! Haha my poor Luna looks nervous now--I want to make her into a mermaid :D

13. I really hesitate for Raffine option skin, could anyone tell me if normal skin turns to yellow faster than peachgold skin please, or it's the same? (sorry for my English...)

14. I have both. My normal skin Douglas is a little over a year old. He's pretty much the same color he was when I got him. I bought him some new hands recently and they match him. The only ones that are slightly different in color are the new sculpt ones... and they are slightly lighter than he is (I bought both sets when I bought my Pamela... the lighter ones were added to the order after the ones that match better though since that's when they were released). But he's mostly been kept in his box or under a towel/piece of cloth when I'm not playing with him. He has been outside several times for photo-shoots as well. My Pamela is peach gold. She just came home on March 12th. She's been kept in my EID carrier bag mostly, but she's been outside for photos and sitting out under a towel as well. So far she doesnt look like she's changed at all. But she's newer so, yeah. I dont really display my dolls uncovered, however they are under a florescent light for photos on occasion and also sit in my living room either with the incandescent light off or on... but when it's off, my florescent kitchen light is on. They are on the other side of the room though so they dont get hit with it directly.

edit: I just realized it's been 6 months exactly as of today since Lydia came home O.o... wow... I didnt realize I'd had her so long. lol

15. I have four normal skin dolls all from varying years, my oldest is just a bit over two years (came home May 2013), and I just bought her some new hands and they match next to perfect, they're only a shade pinker than her. Same for my boy who will be two this month. Both have been kept in their boxes when I'm not playing with them.
I also have a NS EID male head visiting with me for a faceup who will be five this December (I believe), and he and Ember (my oldest) are almost identical in color. He's a shade yellower and doesn't have the pink glow to him anymore, so he's mellowed. I know she keeps her dolls out of direct light as much as she can. Iple's normal resin is pretty sturdy in my personal experience.

16. Go Fishcake!! I had to fix a similar piece of damage on my precious *2003* CustomHouse Choa -- she arrived to me with one resin hook broken, and I ground the stump down with a dremel slightly, then made a small hole with a pin vise (hand drill), put a drop of Superglue in the hole, then screwed a cup-hook in (quickly, before the glue dried.)

It's been holding for . . . at least 8 years now? Never gave me a moment's trouble after the repair :)

17. Many thanks for your answer The Raven and Artiscadelle, I'll choose normal skin :)

18. I tried some E600 glue, but didn't work for fixing his foot.
I did receive the COA from the previous owner, but he was bought in 2010 so I don't know if they would replace them.
So what type and size of hook do I get? And how much do they usually cost?

19. I had both NS and peach gold which were bought less than a year. I displayed the dolls for about 5 months in a room that lets minimal sunlight in and they were never under direct sunlight. After a while they both yellowed in the exposed areas of the hands and arms but the NS were more noticeable than the peach gold. I was so disappointed they yellowed so fast and unevenly. I
think it helps if all areas are covered even if the doll is not exposed in direct sunlight. Sometimes I feel the air itself causes oxidation to resin (even my vinyl dolls discolor!).

20. Zais I get mine from Home Depot-- but any hardware store with tiny "cup hooks" will sell them to you for 2.00 or less (you will get several in a pack). I think that one was either 1/2 inch or 1 cm but you can bring the foot/ankle ball to check the size on the spot. Home Depot also has magnets (the neodymium ones) and S hooks, and those tiny hand drills AND needle nose pliers and hemostats much cheaper than a doll supply store. Also that purple insulation foam you can make props out of. :D And 14 gauge coated thermostat wire for wiring. (I live really close to one, it's my favorite weekend place).
