Iplehouse EID and SID Discussion Part 16

Jan 22, 2015

    1. I was so sad when they discontinued him! I really wanted his scar head, but never found one in normal skin to match Henry. I saw a real skin one floating around the marketplace back then, but that was it :atremblin He's very rare indeed! I'm so lucky to have him and Pamela. What skin tone are yours? I feel like I might have seen pics of them awhile back at some point probably

So pretty! OMG, how did you scale the patterns? I have several human sized period clothing patterns that I need to scale down for my EIDs and I keep procrastinating :sweat I have no idea where to begin! It's a little overwhelming. Thanks in advance and feel free to pm me if you don't want to clog up the thread!

    2. Yes I was surprised when Douglas got discontinued...he wasn't for sale very long! I was lucky to get both my Douglas and Scar/Douglas as floating heads...both are in NS. I happen to have two Pamela's also one in PG and one in NS.

Here is my Scar Douglas aka Frankie.:XD:

    3. I, unfortunately, am not. I suspect (but don't know - just speculating) that Iplehouse may have gotten quite a lot of pushback from their customers. Some people enjoy realistic looking scars; others find them quite upsetting. If you're running a doll company that makes traditionally "pretty" sculpts, your customers may be a little shocked at a scarred face.
If you read the comments below some of their sculpts, there were a lot of unhappy people about the nSID body being too "skinny." They are objectively wrong, of course.

    4. OMG I love that name. lol. I have a female character named Frankie. She's not shelled in doll form though. I was trying to remember if yours was NS as well. I knew there were a couple of them floating around here on DoA but there seemed to be more RS ones back in the day (of the very few that exist that I was able to find online anyway). I love that face :D

My Pamela is PG as well!

    5. To each their own :sweat I actually like how the nSID body looks (nnSID? Isn't this the third?), but I like how the previous body is just a bit thicker. It's such an attractive characteristic.

    7. Well, they had a non-scar version of Douglas that was offered for those too squeamish for a scar sculpt....but discontinued both versions anyway. ;)
Then just two years ago was it they added a Scar Leonard. :apirate:

@ResinRapture - Your Rex and Zera are wonderful! I love seeing the older sculpts.

Thanks! I was heavily into story-telling at the time and I had this character off...camera where he was referred to but not seen... but he got so popular that I had to shell him. :XD: I originally named the character Frankie as to not use up names I wanted for other characters that I intended to shell. The same thing happened to the regular Douglas head I have whose nickname is Shorty...but he's the tallest character on the pirate ship he sails on.:apirate:

      Here's Shorty. :XD:

    8. I’ll give you a quick description @The Raven - it’s a long process and quite labor intensive.
There may be better ideas in the crafting/sewing/pattern section on DoA too?
I lay out the people pattern on a 1” sewing grid - and with fine grid graph paper - set to have
1/2inch = 1inch - I plot the people pattern piece onto graph paper. Once it is half scale, I
can use a xerox machine (or scan it into the computer) and reduce it to the 0.35 scale that
I need to start. If I buy a digital pattern, first scaling is MUCH easier - I just print the A0 pdf
at 0.35 scale on my printer.
Once I have the ‘small’ version of the pattern, I start making a toile/muslin - often it needs
2-4 versions to get all the adjustments for the doll. I adjust the bust, shoulders, hips, waist
then height as I’m scaling things. As the proportions of our dolls are frequently not the
same as people, bust location and torso lengths are a required adjustment.
There are various methods to scale patterns - some probably easier/faster than what I do.
It is easier to scale a doll pattern to a different size than to create a doll pattern from
      people clothing - imo.

@ResinRapture your Rex and Zera are a gorgeous couple!!! Great photo!

@luluna your Shorty is really sexy! Great photo too!

    9. @luluna - fair enough. I see that there's still a Scar Leonard, so that blows that theory out of the water, eh? Honestly, I'm still a little surprised they have the "SWAT" outfits on their website... at least, from a U.S. perspective. We, uh, have a complicated history with SWAT teams over here. (Have a Google re "SWATing" if you don't know what I'm talking about.)

Out of curiosity, has anyone ordered HID Leonard via Doll Choice and paid for the face-up? What face-up did you get?

    10. This is a really helpful read for my own iplehouse girl thank you :)

    11. Thank you! I figured it would be somewhat difficult/time intensive to shrink the pattern down. But I'm up for the challenge ;)

    12. I happen to have an old Iplehouse sculpt that I was lucky enough to find all the parts for. This is Twyla, my 2010 Noctarcana Circus Luna Tamer in SE Rose Gray skin. She's my only Iplehouse.

      Old pics are old. :sweat

Even though she's in my Torchwood storyline, she is a fan of Audrey Hepburn. I had her faceup artist paint her like a redheaded Audrey.

Hmmm, I think I'll change her outfit since the holidays are coming.

Oh man, I need to get this poor girl's feline head faceupped!

Welp, I now know what my 2024 New Year's Resolution will be. To get this poor girl faceupped and possibly finally have her tiger striped bodysuit made...if I can find someone to make her one, that is. :XD:

    13. @Ryuichi Sakuma 13 - Oh you have a wonderful 2010 Noctarcana Circus Luna Tamer! She is so pretty. I love her cat side! I once saw one that was painted like a Snow Leopard, and it was so amazing! A tiger sounds great also. I hope you are able to get her cat side faceuppped soon.:XD:

The Noctarcana Circus theme was really creative and groundbreaking for Iplehouse!

I love that Iple keeps up all the old themes on their site. I often go back to look at the offerings gone by.:)

    14. Thank you! :kitty2 I remember seeing that snow leopard Luna back in the day!

I've been debating for years, tbh as to if I wanted her body blushed or a tiger-striped bodysuit made, after all, when she's undercover for Torchwood (a Doctor Who spinoff), she's a regular human. Tiger stripes would be a total giveaway that she's more than human, especially in the types of outfits she likes to wear.

I have to admit that I love the themed dolls IP had. I'm honestly not sure if they still do them, since its been a long time since I checked out their website.

    16. And I'm back! Just ordered a Raffine on the HID body through Doll Choice. She'll be the big version of Echo my old FID girl now that I've moved on to the big dolls mostly. Anyone know what size eyes she takes? I wanna make sure I can get her eyeballs ordered when I put in my next Ashuradark order.

    17. 12 mm generally - 14 mm if you like the very big iris/very little whites look (me. that's what I like). Preferably oval-shaped.

      • x 1
    18. I'm a small iris liker, myself, but I usually just get custom sizes. So the eyewells work with both 12 and 14? Anyone know what size iris looks most realistic? I feel like it'd be 4 or 5 mm. . . I think I have 4mm irises in my Bianca.

      • x 1
    19. I do 4-5 mm irises in all my Iplehouse girls. I honestly can’t keep track of who has 4’s and who has 5’s, but I know both look good.
