I use the thickest I can fit into their channels. Mine are the older version with standard string configuration and butt flaps and they need all the extra friction they can get to pose even somewhat reliably. And their channels are quite narrow. If I have the choice I would opt for a firm kind rather than a soft one, for the same reason.
Posting here again after so long, with my JID siblings, an Edwin and a Violet. Edwin actually arrived last year, but I went through quite a fair share challenges getting him a face-up. Golden Kids by Yela Gatchalian-David, on Flickr And just a reference for those searching for readily available clothes that fit the JID boy, I managed to put these Dollmore items on Edwin and they fit great: Mango Text Hood T shirts (Mustard) -- covered up the text by appliqueing a patch over it Cargo seven tenths pants (Black) Nika Sneakers (Beige)
@AntarelNefertili They look lovely. And good to know about the dollmore clothes. I've had some luck with them myself for other dolls, because their listed measurements are usually correct, something that can't be said for every maker.
I've not shared any photos of my JIDs here ini a while. This is my Isar. IH - Isar by Tom Beach, on Flickr
@MB Lilac What an absolutely brilliant photo! Such a totally authentic scene, and I love their Hi-Viz vests too.
Thank you. The photo was taken for 'National Construction Day' which was back on November 30th. I enjoy taking photos for my Special Days series when there's one that happens to inspire me. I originally made the vest for a Garbage Collection day, and used it again for a school crossing guard. I have a pattern for it on my website - Safety Vest - Tutorials 2021
Hi there! I was wondering if anyone has, could take, or knows where to find a photo of a resin comparison between Iplehouse peach gold and special real? Special real seems like it can photograph very differently depending on the light, so I would like to see both resin colors in the same picture.
It also depends on whether it's the old or new formula of either one. The older, original Special Real skin looks very green beside Peach Gold, which is why I never ordered any dolls in PG. But the newer SRS is a different formula, and is much redder, so probably looks better with it. I have one PG girl, but she's a much older formula from way back when IH was still using the more translucent resin, so it wouldn't be a true representation of what it would look like now.
Thanks for the info! I do wish they still offered the more transparent glow resins, they looks gorgeous.
This is an INCREDIBLY wild long shot, but I figured I'd ask: I'm planning on re-shelling my childhood doll, American Girl Addy Walker, as a JID Benny, but I no longer have my Addy to determine if she should be light brown or dark brown. Does anyone have a suggestion on that?
@Honooko - I own multiple brown IH dolls, but never Addy, so I can only compare to photographs... I think I would be leaning towards dark brown, though? If it helps, the difference between those two isn't large, because they were originally one color. Good luck deciding! I've had Benny on my "maybe someday" list for a long time, so I hope you'll share photos of yours some day! ^_^
Here's my brown family. The two BIDs are an earlier light brown, and when I ordered Benny and Angela it was right at the time they changed their light brown to a darker (and redder) colour. I wasn't pleased that they did it without telling anyone, and neither were other customers. So Iplehouse decided to offer both colours separately, with the older, lighter brown, and the new darker light brown as 'dark brown'. Keep in mind that my two BIDs also predate the current resin formula, and were made back when IH still used the more translucent formula. So I can't speak for what the current light brown is really like.
I haven't taken a photo of my IH Edwin since forever, but here he is with some plants I've been raising lately. Also, am I the only one having issues getting the Iplehouse website to load? Isitdownrightnow seems to imply that the problem is only on my end, but I've tried so many ways of accessing it (even different browsers) and I couldn't get it resolved. I got a JID Tania Noctarcana Circus edition in October. I named her Stephanie, and now she's my longtime regular edition Tania's sister. They're both my beloved daughters I've taken some photos of Stephanie since getting her. This is one of my favorites.
Thank you so much! She's my favorite little girl sculpt, so even though she's discontinued, I had to get another one
