1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. IpleHouse JiD Mini Discussion Part 19

Nov 26, 2017

    1. I checked out the link, and all the resin colours seemed way too dark to me. I suspect it's a prime example of how lighting affects the colour of resin in a photo. I have dolls in most of those same resin colours, and they are nowhere near as dark as shown in the photo. For a true comparison the photo would need to be taken in bright, natural, daylight, with a camera that can capture true colour. That alone would be a huge challenge.

    2. @MB Lilac - They are on the dark side, yes, and that's despite having multiple lights at close proximity. :sweat My older camera tended to go the other direction and wash things out, and the newer one likes to make things too dark. Unfortunately, I could only lighten them so much without it distorting the color. I need to learn how to use the manual settings better. It would be nice if taking photographs outside was more feasible, but most of the year here is windy or rainy or both. I just figured it would still be useful to some people as a comparison between the colors. At least it's pretty representative of how my dolls look in their no-sunlight-allowed room?

    3. You do not need manual settings. You DO need to learn how to use exposure offset;
the little [+/-] tool. Some years ago I wrote a short tutorial on digital photography
exposure. You can find it here http://www.photosbytom.net/PDF/Exposure.pdf

    4. I had fun playing with my dolly daughters the other day :) I love the Tania sculpt. I wish Iplehouse could've continued making it. Both of my little girls are Tanias. I love them so much :aheartbea

    6. I scored a special real Daniel via the auction! He's got a couple of dents I'm going to try to boil out, but I'm so thrilled to have him; he was one of the first dolls I was ever interested in.

Still building a wardrobe, getting fabric in and altering patterns and whatnot, so he's just in boxers for now, but we're going to for a 00s jock vibe, I think.

    7. @dm_sof Congratulations. Daniel is a vey nice sculpt.

    8. Awesome, make sure you show us how the dent removal goes, take pictures!! I'm certain that boiled water doesn't hurt the resin, I've done it a few times myself, even with real skin - no discoloration, at least not from the boiling water. i think time and definitely sunshine will have an effect, but not heat. Just thought I'd tell you to give you courage in case you need it. He's gorgeous, congratulations!

    9. As far as yellowing goes, the reaction for polyurethane adds an oxygen atom to the molecular structure. Anything that speeds up the reaction will eventually cause discoloration, including excessive prolonged heat. However, my oldest resin girl is now old enough to legally drink, and she went from the color of snow to the color of buttercream frosting. Even across so long a time and several prolonged instances where the AC was out in 100+F weather, the difference wasn't absurd. Even with very little UV stabilizer added to her resin, she didn't turn into a banana.

    10. Is that the chemical reaction? That's interesting! I've successfully reversed the yellowing in my sewing machine plastic using hydrogen peroxide cream made for hair dressers and sunshine, so the problem is definitely chemical. I would never do it on my dolls though, far too scary! Computer cases, sewing machine plastic n such, is a great experiment though :D But for all I know I hastened it's death??

    11. Oh! That's great! I have something I need to try that on, not a doll! I searched Amazon and there seem to be various strengths. What brand or strength did you use?

      • x 1
    12. I don't remember, Nancy. But something like this, which comes in different strengths and sizes (I bought 2 32oz, LOL, but didn't use that much of it) I don't remember the strength I used, and I'm not home ATM to see, sorry :doh

What I did was slop on a layer (it's a cream so sort of stays on) and then wrapped the items with plastic wrap then put them in the sun, moving the direction every X amount of time to get good sun exposure from all directions. I've seen people use some kind of motorized turn tables to get the best exposure, but I didn't have one. It *seems* to have worked fine for ... you know, sewing machine plastic? Computer plastic? that kind of thing. Been a few years and seems OK still.

    13. Thanks! That is one of the ones I was thinking of.

    14. I restrung my JID Jerome, Guillaume, for the first time a couple days ago, and he remains my most stable, rock-solid stander ever. Even enough to support his sister, Anouska (MNF Chloe).

My gray alien boys. JID Joshua, the other is DZ Carter.

Lately I've been thinking of Benny again. I had her long ago when she first released as a limited doll. But back then her teenager body did not work for me as I originally wanted her as a child character, and so I sold her not many months after owning her. But I've always really loved the Benny sculpt and can't stop thinking about her. Also now that there is a new small bust body, making her a child character would be easier.

I have no idea which resin color to go for though. I've seen owner images of her in different colors and she look really cool in all of them. I do have an idea of getting her in WS, but what is the color the darker skin Benny in this image got? Margo and Mina | (Iplehouse Benny) | Diana | Flickr

    16. I don't know if I should make Benny an albino like character or get her in a lighter tan and give her vitiligo :sweat

I can't order her yet but I would have done it right now if I could. I really miss having a Benny.

    17. Wow! Beautiful photo!!! I've always wondered if the Minifee girl + J.I.D. Iplehouse guy pair would be harmonious... Now I see - they look great together!!!

    18. I’m planning to eventually get a Benny to shell my original character Amanda and she has albinism (small note: person first language is preferred by the community) I think Benny is a beautiful sculpt and I think it would be well worth the wait for JID Doll Choice is as they say, “on air” because the ebony resin such a lovely shade.
