It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Is it boring to have only one brand of dolls?

Nov 3, 2014

    1. I think it would depend on the individual. Think about some other things you like, how do you feel about them? Do you collect anything else? Or how do you feel about having your phone, tablet, computer all run on the same platform or be from the same company?

For me it would not be boring. If I really like one company more than I wouldn't mind it.

    2. Nope, :D. It's not boring if you are having fun.

    3. This thread is something great to come across with. I always wondered if I should get the same doll as my first one. But I guess a change of brand would be something neat too.

    4. It's one of those preference thing. Liking multiple painting from an artist on dA or in a museum. Or perhaps clothes from certain brand. Food at a particular restaurant. So you like their work. Who's to say anything about your harmless preference.

    5. Not at all boring! If you prefer the style of the company as well as the joint system then it's fine! Even if I love dolls from different companies, I still would probably buy twice from the same company in the future! Maybe DC or Luts because they are both my favorite companies at the moment~ No one can judge you for what you like!

    6. It's not boring to have only one brand of dolls but I personally would find it more boring to own multiple dolls of the same sculpt *shrugs* I seem to like Dollmore's bjds a lot after layawaying 2 of theirs in a 4 month gap lol XD

    7. It makes more sense to me personally if related dolls (siblings, children, parents, cousins etc) come from the same company, because there will always be similarities in the sculpts. I'm getting a handful from Iplehouse myself (they are family), then going for a lovely Granado Hansel (love the unique expression!) and a Titan male (head undecided). ^-^

    8. I don't think it's a bad thing to prefer specific companies. For myself, I prefer Fairyland Minifees (and a Pukifee) since I like consistency and am in love with Fairyland! The other company I love is Luts for their Zuzu Delf line. So like what you like! I've been told I should broaden my dolly horizon by venturing out, but what if I don't want to? It's my money so I should be able to buy what I want, right? :)

I even stick to just one face-up artist since she captures my characters perfectly and they all have similar elements and work with each other so well. :3

    9. I don't think it is boring, but it is not something I could stick to! I fall in love with a doll and that is it. I am not too picky on them looking good together. I don't have characters for my dolls I just enjoy how pretty they are and they make me happy to look at them. I currently have dolls from Soom, Fairyland, Luts, Leeke World, Volks, Peakswoods, and Souldoll. I have sort of changed my doll plans for this year to only Fairyland and Soom, but that will likely change later on.

    10. Whatever makes you happy. We all collect for different reasons that are personal to us. It's our story as much as it is the doll's. I happen to love the realism and quality for Iplehouse. It is easy for me to spin story lines in my head by just looking at them. Will I collect other manufacturers? .. I adpoted a Kaye Wiggs Hope , so yes, but my first love is still Iplehouse. I also have quite a few vinyl dolls by several different vendors. Truth...I just love dolls and it doesn't take much for me to begin a love affair :). If it lasts for more than a couple of weeks, I will act on it. Thankfully a number of manufacturers have lay-a-way programs. They contribute to my doll delinquency. Rah!

    11. Hey, if you really love one particular brand, more power to ya!

    12. I think it depends on you as a person on what you prefer, I've got a mystic kids, going to get a dika doll and have a floating head doll family A

    13. I personally do not think it is boring, because even if all of the dolls that someone owns are from the same company, each doll can be drastically different. I've even seen two dolls of the exact same sculpt look totally different because of the wig, resin color, faceup, eyes, etc. that the owners used.

The important thing is that whomever enjoys their dolls, regardless of brand.

    14. I love the variety of experiencing dolls from many different brands. Their aesthetics are all so unique and the engineering and posing ability so different, I think I may get bored with just the one brand :)

    15. Not at all. If you find yourself liking dolls from the same company time and time again, then it just shows that company really has nailed your tastes. What's wrong with that? At least that way you know that all your dolls will be compatible and they'll be able to share most of their wardrobes!

But the opposite isn't wrong, either. I have dolls from different companies, and like the variety.

It is all a matter of taste, there is no "right" or "wrong" answer here.

    16. hmm... i cant say for other people's collections because they might be perfectly satisfied with collections from a single company but as far as i'm concerned yes, it's really boring. Personally I greatly enjoy variety in my collection since my characters are all very different from one another so even when I find myself having a lot of dolls from some company I do my best to get different body options for them or hybrid them. Again, that's just my personal opinion, but differences are the spice of life.

    17. I defo don't have lots of dolls from one company >.> nope not at all...

Like what others have said, if you love your dolls who cares if they're all from the same company? You like them, and thats what matters ^.^

    18. I originally only had resinsoul and then I deviated to Fairyland, and I think I could just own all minifees and be not bored at all. :)

    19. I can only answer for myself, personally I would be bored. I don't have an attachment to any one company, most of the time, I only like a couple of dolls from each maker.

    20. I prefer my dolls NOT to have a cohesive look, actually...I really enjoy all the weird head sizes and stylistic differences. Because of this, I tend to really fall in love with only one or two dolls from a company. Obviously I have exceptions though. ;)

However, I don't think it's "boring" if someone's collection is comprised of only one or two brands. I have noticed a lot of times that when that is the case, the owner has a really interesting backstory for their dolls and they want them to look as though they belong to the same setting. And that's totally not boring!
