It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Is it boring to have only one brand of dolls?

Nov 3, 2014

1. I agree with you. because I have many brand of bjd. Mystic kids(Full doll), Luts(body) ,Little monica(Head and full doll), sseiren ...and I think, It make me know the advantages and its own waste in each brand.

and the main point, each brand of bid have sculpt that I like.

2. At first I didn't think so! I bought a few Fairyland F60s because I really fell in love with their size and the sculpts but now I have twice as many FL dolls than I do other companies and as much as I love all the sculpts I am starting to think them rather same-y. I keep telling myself to let one go and buy from another company but I am having trouble parting with them!

3. I have few favourite doll companies, so I have few different dolls :) I think it would be boring to possess only one theme brand dolls.

4. I'm guilty of having most of my dolls from one company/sculptor. But it's a style I like, a company I'm used to dealing with and it makes me happy to see them all looking like they belong together.

Most of my hoard are Fairyland, but I do have a few (non Cerberus Project) Luts dolls, a Peakswoods doll, a Unoa and a Volks doll and love them all. I think I'm just about done with collecting all the Fairyland dolls I want (you know, until they release something new I have to have), so I think from this point on you'll see me venturing out and trying things from different companies.

5. I bought my first doll, Musedoll Re-che, 12 years ago. For past 10 years, I bought and sold few dolls but Re-che. Because I like his sculpture so much! Sad thing is I can't buy same doll any more, because company renewed it. If I have a chance to buy same mold, I will definitely buy it again. Never be boring!

6. In my collection, I have dolls from 6 different makers - Soom, Impldoll, Iplehouse, Ringdoll, Resin Soul, and Planet Doll.
Their styles are very different, but I love the dolls I have. Preferring dolls from one particular maker can create a family with similar aesthetics, which I think is really cool. Each person chooses what they love, and that is what really matters! :love

7. I think it's only boring if you let it. I purchase dolls because I like them. If they all come from one company oh well. I do have dolls that come from different companies. But the are some companies I look at more than others.

8. To each their own, if you only like dolls from one company than have at it ^_^ To me personally, it depends on how many sculpts that company makes, how similar they look to each other, and how many dolls you have. If a doll company has two sculpts and you own one of each, not boring! If they have 2 sculpts and you own 12 of each then yes, it would be boring to me. A lot of companies have a large number of sculpts though.

9. I don't think it's boring, but I like molds of different brands.

10. So far I've not been a repeat offender...offender isn't the right word, but the phrase kinda gets my point across...I think /shrug
ive got and iplehouse EID Pamela (Stella), doll chateau Elizabeth spider and human (Sofie), and a Dollshe David Kunnci (dunno his name yet) otw. I find myself looking at doll chateau the most though. I love the aesthetics...Christina is going to be my next, I think.

11. I think you should just get what you like.

If it's a bunch of different companies, that's awesome. If it's mainly one company, that's awesome too.

It's not boring as long as you are not bored with it. It's a hobby, a recreation activity, not something anyone should feel pressured to do a certain way. If you're having fun, you're doing it right. :)

At the moment I have two Resinsoul dolls, a Doll Leaves, and two ordered from Bobobie. I'll probably add other brands in the future but I don't feel pressured to just because of the brand names.

12. Well.... Yes and no.

Some may find it boring, but I myself am guilty of preferring one company(Souldoll). Mostly because for me it's a pretty big deal that the dolls fit together.
If I was shelling a particular character I might look more into different companies to find that perfect face. For now, though, I really like my Souldolls and it's pretty safe when you know what you're getting.

13. I don't think any doll collection has to be boring unless you let it be. Even though most companies have a special aesthetic that is all their own I'd say all the good companies also have some nice variation among their dolls. One good thing you would get with a collection that is all from one company is that your dolls would all feel like they belong together which is sometimes hard I think when you want dolls from vastly different companies. I think people should do what makes them happy in the hobby and if that's getting every doll they own from their favorite company then I say go for it.

Personally though I couldn't have all my dolls be from one company because I have pre-existing characters that I'm wanting to shell into dolls and no one company that I've found has a doll for each character I have. Also I just admire so many different companies that I would feel like I was limiting myself if I stuck to just one. So far I have three dolls from three companies and I'm really happy with that. Like I said I do have to think about how future dolls will look next to the ones I already have and that has excluded a few dolls that I like. But I want to have a cohesive collection.

14. No, if you like one brand more than the others and feel loyal to the company you will always give them a priority to spend your money with them, as far as they always have new dolls that you like, for me i have 10 dolls from Iplehouse and my wish list still containing at least 3 more never saw it boring

15. Almost all of my dolls are from Luts and Soom except one doll, which is from Angell Studio. I like the looks of Luts and Soom and I think they look similar to one another. I want them to all look like they "belong" in the family. I do admire dolls from other companies, but I find myself worrying about their bodies and what to expect. It's sort of the fear of the unknown. I really really love the facial sculpts of Luts and Soom, so even if I wasn't trying to make them "belong," I would probably still order from them anyway.

I think this is just a personal preference. They're your dolls. They should be what you like. If it's what you like, then it shouldn't be "boring." Who cares what someone else thinks about your collection? It's not theirs, it's yours. :)

16. I really love the Luts aesthetic so most of the dolls I want are from them. I have an idea in mind about an anthro family, so having them from the same company makes the most sense. I'm also quite fond of their human molds. I like dolls from other companies, but like most people, funds are limited so I can't just go around buying every doll I like. In the future when I complete my "family" idea, or if another company releases a new doll that I just have to have, then I'd definitely get them.

17. It depends. I probably wouldn't mind if they were all 5th Motif's...a row of Venitus, Goohwas etc...I cannot see where the problem would be.

18. Depends from the company 's mold. For example, even if Lati dolls are so cute, after a while I get bored because they looks all the same. (they looks all like a sister of another... really too similar)..

19. I'm an eclectic type person - I like a lot of variety. I'm shelling characters from this little fictional town & I want them to look like PEOPLE - ie have a lot of variation. So YEAH, I get dolls from a lot of different companies. How very unrealistic to have a bunch of characters that aren't supposed to be related but they all look like cousins? (Soom, totally looking there). Now if your doll family is SUPPOSED to be all one extended family then I'd think you'd want to get the dolls from one company...although some doll companies' sculpts DON'T look that much alike.

20. Boring to who?

Boring to the collector? Obviously not, or else they wouldn't keep sinking the money into that company's sculpts.

Boring to anyone else? Who even cares? It's not like anyone else has any say over what someone should or shouldn't collect.
