1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Is resin type/texture/look important to you?

Dec 27, 2013

    1. I really don't like shiny resin. My fairyland body is a lot shinier than I prefer, but I love the poseability of it so I can look past the shiny. I prefer matte. I also really enjoy slightly rough feeling resin. I'm always stroking the arms of my Iplehouse doll because I love the feel of his resin. It has a slight texture to it and its very soothing to me. :)

Though, none of these really change the influence of what dolls I buy! The textures are really only a bonus. <3

    2. wow. I'm going to be honest and say that I didn't even know different types of resin were used. I did notice that one of my dolls seems more shiny than my other doll from a different company, that always confused me. Now I know! :doh

    3. Very much so. Personally, I can't stand the really shiny resin... Idk man. When I look at the older Iplehouse dolls, they just look like Barbies to me. I'm so glad my JID Iplehouse Sierra wasn't shiny at all.

My Dreaming Doll Ryuna's resin was BEAUTIFUL. It had a really really smooth but at the same time rough texture and it made her look very strong. :D

    4. I don't like shiny resin either >< I don't think I would even buy a shiny doll... but if I did I think I would definitely sell it.

    5. When a doll looks shiny, it looks really cheap and unattractive...Matte is just better looking and feels nicer!

    6. I prefer matte resin with a good 'tooth' to it. All my Dollshe dolls have gorgeous resin. It has such a lovely texture. My shiniest, by far, is my Impldoll tiny. He looks like regular plastic (although he's super thick and heavy). Shiny resin isn't a deal breaker for me since it can be sanded and sprayed with MSC. I don't mind environmental resin- I actually think it's quite beautiful in the brown/tan range. It looks a bit too waxy to me in peach tones but, if I loved the sculpt, I don't think it would stop me from buying it.

    7. Shiny isn't a deal breaker for me, I prefer matte resin, but as mentioned before, you can sand and coat with MSC to reduce the shininess. I used to really like the translucent quality of French resin, but when I mentioned that on my blog, people came out of the woodwork to show me how yellow their French Resin dolls were after a year. A banana-yellow Limhwa Half Elf turned me off to French resin entirely.
