1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Is there a "too cold"?

Apr 24, 2013

    1. My oldest doll that I bought new from a company (one of the ones in the picture) is 8 and has not yellowed at all. None of the ones I got new have yellowed.

    2. Yes, same here, my Isao is 9 this year, he lived almost all his dollie life in Alberta and Saskatchewan. He has not yellowed. I am his 3rd owner, his 2nd owner lived in the same geographical area. Dolls I bought new and who lived with me in Saskatchewan has not yellowed.

    3. So from what I am hearing it seems the cold does not really effect resin or elastic, but has a chance to effect glue and sealants? I brought my dolls in from the cold and I looked them over and they seem just fine, just a little cold to the touch ;) But perhaps just to be safe I won't keep them in the garage as... it's STILL snowing... it'd be nice if spring would actually be spring already :vein

    4. I live in central alberta and am a new doll owner.. a fellow clubmate from a near by town is maybe getting a 'playhouse' doll house for her dolls. And I had wondered about that too. The kind of 'shed' for lack of a better term, would be one of those nice wooden ones. It would be insulated like normal, but would not have any kind of built in heating or cooling. These are similar to those 'potting' sheds. My aunt had one done up as an 'out of the house carft room. If it was hot she used a fan or heater when it was cold when she was in it working. Today was 29c and for us to hit -40 AND add windchill... not unusual. I also have a massive "Barbie" collection and I would love to find alternate places for them (one room already has a pink glow -_-). But living here I don't know if a 'doll house' like I'd like to make would be a good idea. Any ideas on this? And also if any of you do the pink princess thing too... could they survive being stored/displayed in one of those shed/houses? This could be used as their permanant place mind you... I would go into the doll house to 'play' so to speak... it would also be an area I could set up to take photos as that is majorly less than practical in my home... but the key is... could they survive the highs and lows (temps) in just a well insulated shed/house?

    5. Lady Tiku, if I read correctly, you want to build or buy a playhouse for dolls that is like a shed, not part of the main house. Like a craft room (small shed) that is not part of the main house. It will have insulation but no heating. Personally, I would not house any type of doll there permanently unless there is controlled heating. Even in a basement, there should be heat and always make sure the place will not flood. If you live in a house, can you not set aside one room as a doll's room? Pink Barbie can take half the room and the BJDs take the other half! Many doll collectors have dedicated doll rooms inside the house. Keeping dolls in a shed external to the main house is risky. Critters, insects, worms and any kind of tiny crawlies can get at the dolls. Moreover, security and theft could be an issue.
