1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. It would be to painful... or if I did, I couldn't use the same mold. (Like if something happened to Hakuji I would get a DoD yen to replace him.) But if I could insure them, I would. In a heartbeat. xx'

    2. i think there's a thread about this already, I'm not sure though since I'm bad at using the search engine. ^^ But, for me, I would if i have the extra money. I sometimes have dreams of coming home and the house is on fire and my babies are melting. >< As for someone stealing my babies, well, I could try to replace them, but i think it would never be the same, you know?

    3. Actually, both my boys and all their associated junk are insured already. :) Not because I live in a particularly high risk area or anything, but because it seemed like a logical thing to do. I insured the computer and the entertainment centre and they mean a helluva lot less to me than my dolls, so the boys went on the list :)

That said, if they ever got stolen, god forbid, I couldn't ever replace them. It would just break my heart.

    4. hmmm...

I probably wouldn't insure him ^^; I mean, I own far more expensive things that would probably merit insurance more than him. Of course I'd be distraught if he were lost/stolen but y'know...I can't go around insuring every expensive thing I love because they cost alot of money....But then again, I know very little bout these things xD

Would I replace him? I probably wouldn't be able to...If I tried, the doll would be bound to have a different character expression anyway, the way things work out xD

    5. My dolls are listed on my home owners insurance. If my house burned down, they would be insured for replacement value but I would be more worried and upset about my pictures and other irreplaceable things. I love my babies but I would be more upset about my cats.

    6. If my collection ever gets over 10k maybe ^^;;... also someday when I'm rich and have my own place I might... as far as replacing them... it would really depend on which doll it was. If it was one I bought more out of love for the mold than love of my character, I could probably replace it easily. If it was a doll I spent a lot of my time and heart into customizing or modding... probably I couldn't x.X;.

    7. yes definitly I only have two currently with me (one is on it's way) and they mean so much to me that I would insure them imediatly (I am kind of broke at the moment). I would also be too heartbroken to replace them because the mean so much to me.

    8. Some insurance ( especially renter's insurance/ home owners insurance ) companies make you list the price of the items. People insure computers, tv's, and all kinds of expensive things... so why not a $800+ doll?

I think that if I did lose a doll, I wouldn't buy an exact replacement, cause it would only be a reminder of my loss. I'd probably get a diff. one all together.

    9. Seems like a good idea to me. Especially for people who own limited editions, or if suddenly a doll maker stops producing their dolls become rarities. In a few years they may even be collectors items (they already are, but you know what I mean... even a doll that is more or less easy to find now may become extremely rare and therefore even more valuable). That's actually a good way for the younger ones to convince their parents to buy them a doll... it's kind of an investment

Well... my first doll is still on it's way so I haven't really experienced a "bounding" but I guess I would replace a lost doll especially if it was my favourite doll, otherwise I might just buy something else I'd been craving for, just to have that "new doll on it's way" feeling.

    10. My dolls are covered on my itemised house and contents insurance and I have external cover for a value of 10K for items normally kept at home but taken outside (such as dolls, wedding rings, motorcycle halmets and the like) so they are protected against theft and damage to replacement value.

    11. I would... I'm thinking about asking my mother if I can list them on our homeowners insurance. If not I mite see if I can get a tenant insurance. I am renting a room in my mother's house and if the house did burn down (or flooded XP) I would not have to ask my mother for money to replace my belongings... she would still have to pay for having the room repaired.

I don't know if I would replace them.... It would depend on how bonded to them I am. I mite just end up getting different dolls

    12. I added my guys to our renter's policy right after I got Harumatsu and Tien Jen, and have updated the coverage as the crew expanded... They're listed as one of our collections, along with my antique books and BSR's netsuke.

    13. My dolls, now that it will be a little bit before I add more, will be going on my renter's insurance. I will likely have to itemize them individually and somehow pull out their receipts and such (easier to do on the ones bought online versus through private offers), but I think it would be worth it, as right now I'm looking at about $3000 US just in the dolls alone, not counting their clothes and other accessories (a little of which would be hard to replace!).

Trick is, I -think- the max on my renter's insurance I can get is about $30K...so I need to sit down and look at everything to confirm.

    14. I would really love to get insurance for my babies, especially since I plan on getting more, and the Dolly Disaster Area Danger Zone encompasses fat more than just my apartment. That's a great thing to ask about, because I know it makes me want to look into and with several more planned babies soon to come, I'll definitely keep that in mind.

    15. Actually I don't.
But the chance that something ever happns here is almost as big as winning the lottery.

    16. I didn't insure them when I lived with my parents, but now that I have my own place they're insured..I don't really live in a high risk area, but still..you never know.

    17. Never assume nothing will happen to you/them. *worked at a police station for 4 years* Seriously, people, ANYONE can be a victim of a theft or car accident or many other unpleasant things where your dolls could get hurt, too.

Take pictures of your stuff! Keep reciepts of everything you buy, WITH the pictures! You'll only be helping yourself.

    18. Oh yeah, mine are insured. I have more money tied up in these dolls than any other posssesion I have, so I couldn't in good conscience NOT have them insured.

The Bermann is insured for a BUNDLE, as he is effectively not replaceable.

    19. Just wanted to know if anyone has Insurance on their doll lol :sweat
If you do, did you add it onto your house, or did you insure it separately XD? I'm just wondering how many people out there actually Insured their dolls :aheartbea

I also had a hilarious idea where if you're able to, get one of those microchips that are placed in pets and put it in the inside of your doll's body so that if s/he gets stolen/lost, you'll know where s/he doll is    We were joking about it, but yeah XD~~ I thought it was a nifty idea (provided it doesn't cost a lot >>'''').
