1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. Actually, microchipping a pet only costs around $30 (all of my cats are chipped), so that wouldn't be so much. The problems are 1) securing it. You can't really inject it into cured resin. 2) The microchips aren't locators. They're only identifiers. It wouldn't do anything that that engraving your doll wouldn't do.

      Now you can get locators that are small enough to put onto a pet's collar, so depending on your doll's mold, you might be able to put it in the head or torso. I've seen them as low as $50, although no telling how well those work (the one I found only works over a block or two). Again, there's the problem of securing it. If a thief suspects one might be there, it'd be easy enough to take it out and disable it.

    2. Insurance would be a good idea, with how much they cost.

      My class ring is insured (and my doll will be as soon as i get him!)

      as for the pet identifiers.. like Jinnayah said they just identify the pet they dont track them so it would be pretty useless to get one.. besides only vets and animal services have the wands that will bring up the information on the chips ^^;

    3. A lot of places if you look for 'em can set you up with tracking devices that can be linked through a computer program over the internet to a satellite.
      I saw a tv show where they put it on a bike to test it. They left the bike with the security device out. When it got taken, the laptop user traced them and via a phone, sent details to someone in a car, who chased them down. It was funny.

    4. If you want to insure your dolls, you can always add them to your home owners or renters insurance : )

    5. Ah, I didn't even think about insurance, but that seems a good idea with how expensive they are!

    6. -.- You know, I should think about it... People were even telling me I ought to insure my cel collection, but I'm probably going to trim that back, so there wouldn't be much point. But if I keep having more dolls, I should probably do it. 0.0 I mean, I've even got $70 eyes coming. I would hope I could include that sort of thing. I think my problem would be keeping it updated with all the new stuff I get.

    7. i would like to get insurance for isaac and envy but never thought much of it to look into it yet. :sweat but yeah i dont have them insured...

    8. Thanks for this thread!!! I never thought about insurance until yesterday when my grandmother (who watched as I bought $750 head) told me to think about insurance! I'm living with the folks now, but I'll look into a rider through their home insurance!

    9. Wow, I never thought about insuring your doll! Honestly, I didn't even know you could do that! Wonderful idea though and I'll definetly have to remember it once I save up for one.

    10. I just insured my dolls this week. When I did my new contents insurance, the woman asked me if I had anything unusual that was around $1000 value, cause if you don't actually state it, its hard to get your money back, she said. So I had to specifically note that I had ball jointed dolls in the house.

    11. Make sure you read the terms of the insurance policy really well! It would probably be better/cheaper to go through your renters/home owner's insurance than getting special collector's insurance.

      I checked into the collector insurance before, and some of the companies let you insure them for the full value, but only pay you a certain percentage for claims. Some don't include "acts of god" (tornadoes, floods, etc.) or theft.

      In short, those types of companies aren't really good for anything but taking your money. *_*

      It's also a good idea to take pictures or video of all your insured belongings, along with serial numbers, limited edition numbers, or any nicks/scratches that can identify them. You should keep copies of that info with receipts in a safety deposit box, at a parent's house, etc. It can be a major pain filing insurance claims even when something is covered and you can prove you had it and it can be a real nightmare if you don't have any documentation. :sweat :doh

    12. I was thinking of getting seperate insurance for my dolls. (i dont trust my house insurance to cover them and i take them out with me).

      Does anyone else have seperate insurance for their dolls?
      How did you go about it? Who did you get it from?

      Any help from uk members on where to get insurance from would be great, ive got no idea where to look for it. That im scared that the companies that i speak to will think im bonkers!

      I have voted other because im trying to get them insured but have no idea how to go about it.

    13. I voted "other." because I've considered it, but haven't decided one way or the other yet if I want to add them to something.

    14. you mean they can be insured? o_o
      I didnt know. XD;

    15. They are covered by my house insurance, I have records of their purchases. My coverage for personnal belongings is high enough, they are even covered if stolen while they are in my car.

    16. I want to get mine insured...

      The United States barely provides Health Insurance for humans, never mind Doll Insurance... :roll: I don't think it'll be possible, for me, in any case.

      I'm packin' up and moving to Canada! XD

    17. I'm considering it, I'm not comfortable having no protection for them... as valuable as they are, both sentimentally and monetarily >>

    18. I intend to in the future, once I have the financial ability to insure them. The collection is growing, and once my collection is at a high enough level, yeah, they will get insured. Any collection that goes over $5000 in value should be insured, in my oppinion. Right now, I think I have about $4000 worth... time to start thinkin' about that...

    19. I am planning to take out a policy with American Collector's Insurance. Has anyone in the US used them for dolls and has anything to say about them? They specifically do cover dolls and toys and have been around forever.

    20. My dolls should be covered by our home insurance. But if i choose to take them on a long distance journey i'll be sure to buy them a seperate insurance.
