1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. Mine have their own insurance :)

    2. I noticed this is an old thread, but I thought it was interesting. I live in Florida and we were very blessed to have been missed by the hurricanes that affected the state in 2004 & 2005. We did get some narled winds from Jeanne's backend. Charley was forecasted to hit my area, but at the last minute took a right hook turn. When you a faced with a horrendous storm like that, nothing matters, excpet your familiy and pets. If I had lost all my dolls, I wouldn't have cared as long as we were safe.

I have thought about insuring my dolls separately, but with the high cost of insurance here, it just isn't worth it. Instead, they are all just included in the cost of replacement for the household contents.

    3. Its not too old a thread i started one with the pole today as i didnt realise that this had been talked about before so it got merged. Im hoping to get some advice on what companies in the uk will insure bjds. Ive got no clue how to go about it.

    4. I don't even have health insurance, much less the dolls.

    5. Virtually all of my dolls are irreplacable.:(But, at least having some money would allow me to get new ones, even if they aren't 'replacements' per se.

Much like my animation cels, I could never replace them. But, insurance would make the overwhelming sense of loss somewhat less.

We have a rider in our homeowners' insurance but now I'm considering getting collectible specific insurance.

    6. For right now, my sole doll falls under the $50,000 in renter's insurance I have (much like my computer and my book collection), though specific insurance is tempting, especially if my doll collection gets larger than the four or five I have planned.

    7. eeeeh?! i never thought of that! i dunno... it seems expensive, and we dont get very extreme weather where i live.... and how do you have your doll insured on home insurance?? O:

    8. I found a problem with renters insurance, though. My insurance may cover x amount of money per room, but it does not cover the dolls if they are stolen, due to the fact that there is no way to get an appraisal of the dolls. I could potentially recover the purchase prise of the dolls if I have a receipt, but not the actual worth of the doll's replacement value because there are no recognized appraisers of the dolls. It's very difficult to find insurance for them because they are so relatively rare and new. :(

    9. If something happened to my doll...I'd probably get a different doll. ^_^'' It'd hurt to much buying the same doll again because even though it'd look the same as my first doll...it just wouldn't be Nathaniel. =/ It's just not the same I guess.

    10. I've wondered about insuring my dolls... I think it's probably a good idea, I'll look into it. At the very least I can manage the $12 a year that the Collectibles Insurance Agency asks for.

    11. I was just thinking about this today! What a good idea...definately going to get mine insured when the time comes...

    12. Gah... no insurance, but I really SHOULD get them insured!!! Bad me... :(

      Lots of great advice here!

    13. Collectibles insurance agency does not cover dolls.

    14. They are currently covered under my renters insurance, but only up to $1000. I need to get a special rider and have the dolls appraised, but there is no one who does BJD appraisals!! My insurance covers replacement value, but I might just have to settle for purchase price.

I need to get that rider though, to cover our dolls. I might have to head down to the insurance agency in town and talk to someone and show the receipts. I need to know how much it is going to increase my insurance to have that special rider.

but I would totaly die inside if I couldn't get anything but $1000 back from my 7 dolls.

    15. If there's another thread about Insuring dollfies, not through shipping, please post the link. I looked but didn't find one immediately. If not, here's me starting one:

So with the 5 dollfies I have already, both my Mom and my boyfriends Mother have expressed the need to get them insured. I asked at the nearest insurance place, where my Mom has our House Insurance, if such dolls could be added to the Fine Arts insurance on my Mom's plan.

Unfortunately after 3 phone calls and half hour of waiting, I found that they could not place them under Fine Arts in my Mom's plan (which had a $0 deductible, and would have been awesome)...

But they are covered under the Home Property area of the Plan. However that has a $500 deductible, meaning if my MNF was stolen I wouldn't get any money/enough to buy another. :sweat Which completely sucks.

So I'm wondering if anyone was successful to insure their dollfies under a low-deductible plan. And perhaps if anyone had any ideas where I could find a company within Canada, that would insure such a unique Fine Arts collection? :)

    16. Thank you to the Moderator who moved my thread to this one. :aheartbea

Reading over this thread, I see that the Collectibles Insurance Agency doesn't cover dolls -- so scratch that. I rather anyways find something close by, meaning I'm going to have to phone a lot of insurance places. :sweat Oi vey.

Wish me luck! I'll post here again if I have -any- luck at all. :)

    17. All of my dolls are covered under a special rider to my homeowners insurance, along with my jewelry and computer equipment. I didn't need to get appraisals; I just submitted a detailed list of all my dolls (and jewelry, etc.), with values, to the insurance company, and the size of the policy rider (and the cost) was set based on that list.

    18. This is a very interesting topic.... here in Italy I don't think there is an insurance company who insure collectibles... maybe there are specific options but I don't know them... I will start to look for about it.....

    19. They will eventually have their own coverage
but right now they are covered by the cost of insurance on my house and when they are in my car by my car insurance.

      ^.^V

    20. well not really. My parents have everything in our house insured but i would buy isurance for them when i move out. I have to buy insurance for my laptop and other things so i think throwing them in wouldn't be a problem
