1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. My dolls aren't insured (unless they count on the home insurance, I'm not quite sure about that), but I have thought about it many times, because damn, if something happened to them I'd be heartbroken.

    2. Well, our home insurance pretty much covers the dolls, although I have thought of getting them separate insurance. I guess if my dad ever goes through the trouble of insuring his guitars separately then I will do it for my dolls too...

    3. I don't have specific insurance on them, but do have homeowners but it just covers contents up to a certain amount. Never really thought about it, but I probably need to add a rider. I've only had bjds since Feb., so it's not an issue I've considered till now.

    4. We have renters insurance, and I'm pretty sure my dolls would be covered to a certain amount, but I do need to call one of these days to find out. (especially since I am considering the purchase of my second doll soon)

    5. I have renters insurance and there is one problem with ABJD and any type of insurance. According to my insurance agent, the dolls can only be covered for damage/fire/etc. Not theft. because for theft insurance, you have to have an appraised value of the item in question, and unfortunetly, there is no one qualified by the insurance companies as an appraiser for these types of dolls. Furthermore, in the even of damage, I was told I could only recover the purchase prise of the dolls, and then only if I have proof of purchase. Again, even if my doll is very limited, I would only get what I paid for, not the replacement vlaue because of the lack of appraisers for this type of collectable. I've yet to find any way around this. :( and being that I have many dolls, and quite a number of limiteds, trust me, I have been looking!

    6. Not yet but..soon as my bills are paid off I"m getting insurance on them x_X

    7. I've been considering it for a little while now, but oddly enough I was talking to co-worker earlier today about insuring collections and the like. Apparently her b/f was storing his comicbooks in his father's attic and his father's house burned down. Supposedly he had a number of fairly valueable first issues from the 60's and 70's in good condition and there were several thousand comics all total. But since he hadn't got them specifically insured either on a rider for the house insurance or with collections insurance so they only compensated him $5000. Which seems like alot I suppose, but knowing what the current value of a couple of those issues are, it really isn't.

What that long winded paragraph is saying, is I'm going to look into collection insurance for my dolls (and comic books ;)). If something terrible like that did happen, I would like to at least make an attempt to get my dolls replaced... and I doubt unless they know, that an insurance company will think my dolls are as valuable as they are.

    8. I have Allstate insurance and they will insure ABJD under 'fine arts' for renters policy. I'm actually in the process of gathering all my receipts to fax to them. But then comes the sticky issue of APPRAISALS.

It's been a few months- has anyone found someone who can accurately appraise ABJDs? What does it take to appraise a doll? A liscense of some kind?

While none of my dolls, as of right now, are particularly limited, and getting paid cost is definitely better than nothing at all... they said in a few years they would request an appraisal. @___@

Also, allstate said nothing about theft not being covered. Allstate also has BREAKAGE insurance with no deductable for like, $10 a year up to $5000. So if I drop my doll and break it, it's covered!

    9. I asked my renter's insurance, USAA, if my dolls were covered by my policy. I explained that, should the worse happen, each doll was worth at least 1K. They said the dolls would be covered and they made a note of it in some file they keep. "Look, if my house gets robbed, I don't want you to think I am trying to swindle you..."

    10. Home and contents, though I'm thinking about getting a policy for them now I'm getting more.

    11. I have one dollfie,a CP/Luts Dreaming Shiwoo Vampire Elf,and he isn't insured,as I am only 14 and he goes everywhere with me.

    12. this has crossed my mind but I haven't done it yet. Right now I have no "limited" dolls I'm interested in. Most are standard models I can go out and get again should anything happen to them. But when I get comfortable with a larger collection I will probably insure them because I did spend a lot of money on them and should anything happen I would like to be able to replace them.

    13. My dad said he was going to put my kids specifically on the policy we have on the house, because my dolls are worth more than the computer, iPod and PSP combined. So yeah, I'd be PO'd if anything happened to them!

    14. my post got moved here, I didn't realize there was already a thread. But I think I'm going to insure my dolls. Especially the more expensive ones.

    15. My dolls are insured as part of my homeowners insurance policy. Never can be too careful.

    16. I haven't insured my boy, but I have wondered about if I could, I would love to if I could...

    17. I presume someone may have asked this before, but I'll ask away anyway: do any of you insure your BJD's seperately? At the moment, mine just come under my contents insurance, but now I think because I have four if something happened to ALL of them *god forbid* they would go over the £2000 minimum.

What do you guys do about it?

    18. I have one at the moment... and her and all her stuff is insured for about £500.. it'll have to be increased once her friend arrives though ;)

    19. As soon as he gets here, he and all of his possessions will be covered under our regular insurance as well as our valuable property insurance. They actually consider him "artwork". He is covered for 100% replacement value, even if he cracks or something like that happens to them. We have a similar coverage plan for our computers. If some random kid walks up and dumps orange juice on it and it fries or if my dogs pull it off the desk and it cracks, they replace the entire thing. USAA is the BEST.

    20. All of mine are insured under the House Insurance :D
