1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Is your doll stinky???

Jan 17, 2007

    1. Aww, LOL! My boys usually sleep in Wren's box more often than not, and I have kept them not only in the box whenever Dolly Disaster Area is in full swing, but I keep their faces covered by the clear little plastic protectors when they're asleep in their box too. I've noticed that kept the fresh smell of the faceup materials kind of strong whenever I took them out--though it only lasts a few minutes--but the more time they've spent out, the less they smell like chemicals right out of their bed in the box. That's the only thing I've noticed :)

    2. I have to agree here, nothing like the smell of a new doll...opening the box and that new resin aroma..its intoxicating....hhhmmmI have a body coming in can't wait to smell it again......that's what must be making us buy all these dolls...its the smell!! its a drug I tell you!!!..and I am addicted!! :)

and on the clothes I recently washed my new darker clothes to set the dye...and they smell pretty good...and I washed a mohair wig with my shampoo and conditioner, and it smells yummy now!

    3. Actually, that's a valid concern! It happens to me! I'm sensitive to the 'new resin' smell, and it gives me a wicked headache and if I'm in an inclosed area with my new doll, it makes me feel like passing out *_* I made a thread about it, here:
      http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43103

If you buy your dolls new from the company, take them out of their boxes and let them air out for a day before you spend a prolonged amount of time with them. Also air out anything that came with them like wigs and pillows.

Speaking of the smell, I just got a new pair of hands today, and I feel a tiny headache creeping on...but then again, I felt daring and went and took a nice deep whif!! Dumb me! :doh

Back on topic, my dolls are not very clean, but I think my dolls smell like me, because they usualy sleep in bed with me. I know their clothes will at least. I kinda like that though. Like a mother bear or something, I know my cubs by their scent!!

    4. I love the new resin smell! For me it's a huge part of a dolls "home coming". Opening up the box and having a big waft of resin smelly goodness smack me accross the head has to be my fave part! lol
As you can tell, I am a scent fanatic. I'll wash the resin kids clothes if they are dirty. I put sachets in their clothes drawers, and I 'll give them a little sprits of whatever I happen to be wearing that day. Except my Sei-Tenshi, she always wears Princess by Vera Wang because it just suits her so well! When I smelled it in the shop, I instantly thought about my darling lil Chiisai-Chou! ^__^
I also tend to clean my dolls bodies with baby wipes! They smell soooo good after, and they get squeaky clean! They even come in different scents now, too! I wash wigs with baby shampoo, because it is the most gentle, but it also leaves the wigs pleasently scented. :)
So nope, my dolls are not stinky! lol

    5. Nothing better than "new doll smell". XD
I have to admit I like it, mostly because it brings back memories of opening up my first doll. n__n

    6. lol, i don't think they stink. violaine sniffed my mnf soo though, right after i got her, she couldn't resist that new doll smell, mmm. i love it too, so I'm guilty of sniffing new dolls too, like a new car. ><

    7. *_* Bleh.. I think resin smells like plastic..some of the figures the I've brought smell the same as Lucien did when I opened the Luts box (the outside box kinda smelled like perfume thou).
The pillows he was packed with smell stronger then he does, but the smell should go away after I let him air.
As for clothing, I washed them -before- putting them on him, to avoid staining and lint..I dont believe leaving the same clothing on a doll will matter, unless they're kept close to you alot (if you sleep with them close) or get dirty from play.

    8. OHH it's sounds like a lot of fun!! Your dolls must smell delicious I luv baby wipes they smell so nice!! We have babyshower gell in the bathroom but I don't have a baby hahahaha OoO!!! I should also get me some of those sachets for my dolls clothes those also smell really nice.
I sometimes put a piece of Lush soapbar with the clothes that also smells good(lush is has so delicious scents)!

Come to think of it O_O I luv soapbars!!

    9. Brilliant! :mwahaha ;)

I have been tempted to spray Rooster with something yummy smelling.. but really, I think I'd get sick of the smell eventually x_x; And I'd be afraid of it marking him or something. Also, I'd want to use my favourite perfume, Angel.. XDD Which doesn't really suit his personality! *_*

      New doll smell ftw~

    10. Are we sure that it is a new resin sent and not MSC? I when I got Juri, only her head had that scent to it, not her body. It has all faded now, even though I keep her in her box most of the time. That and her face was extra sparkely when I first got her almost like the super fine glitter. That too has faded with the smell.

    11. ahh the smell of CP heads=new addictive drug....I wonder if that'll sell on the open market

but in my opinion, new resin, just like a brand new car...has a smell that I love I dont know what it is but Luka kept his smell damn near through May and its like Kazzii said the only parts that I can smell the sweet resiny smell is his joints....

but his brother and sister are on the way so :) new resin smell here I come

    13. When I received my new FCS doll...OMG! @_@

I was high for over a week. I also kept popping the head off just for a sniff, that smell is completely intoxicating. >_>

Can't wait for my next one! *jitters*

    14. My CP boy deffinately has a resin-y smell that eminates from him, that I haven't noticed on my other dolls.

Rose of Sharon wears a leather rose scented with a heavy rose oil in her hair, so she always smells faintly of roses.

    15. *snerk*!! Mother Bear Nakitama!!

The only really noticeable smell I had came from my SoulDoll boys, new and second-hand both, and I think it was sealer rather than a resin smell. But once they are out of the box and air out, I don't notice it any more unless I put my nose right up against the resin. My Volks had a less noticeable sealer smell.

My dolls also don't go back in the box once they're out, unless they are travelling for some reason.

    16. Mike's been wearing the same pants for almost 2 years and they don't stink. Inside the joints I can smell the resin, but his body is in pieces so he doesn't have a scent any longer. The bodies I haven't restrung have a scent.

    17. Yes; no; no; yes.

If the outfit is elaborate, I tend to leave it on them for a few months.

    18. My first doll I bought second hand smelt really strongly of ciggerettes >.< but when I got my new one it was only her face that smelt really stong of something, I think its the coating they put on it though :D

    19. LOL. XD I didn't realize dolls smelled at all so when I opened the box for the first time I was SO HAPPY. The resin smell is great. Sadly it went away after a few days... but the joints still smell a little and the inside of the head /definitely/ does. It's so nice *___* Also the box smells like resin still. Mmmm.

And now I'm happy because I thought I was weird for liking the smell. But tons of people like it too, yesss >D

    20. ... I'm going to have to go sniff my doll now 8D
I noticed the smell when I first opened the box, a week after that, and then again when I was wet sanding his seams, so yes, resin DOES have a smell.

It tends to go away after a while though, so I think that if the smell bothers you, stick the little stinker in a well ventilated area for a week or so, and/or give it a bath (elastic out, or else it'll mold) and the smell should go away. ;D
