Is your doll stinky???

That post made my day XD

 

The smell of new and fresh resin is really great, I've got to agree upon that!
When Ophelia arrived I sniffed the whole time inside her headcap.
It was almost like I was getting high or something xD

And now I ordered a doll of French Resin, I wonder if it would smell different XD

 

I love the way my twins smell. It's odd... I'm almost ashamed to admit it. ^^

Except my dollzone doll, the others are 'smelly' (i think its the resin smell) but i quite like it lol

and i would never use perfume on my dolls =P Dont know if they are any good to the resin.

 

THIS is why we are all so crazy! We have been affected by the FUUUUMES! ^___^ I love that resin smell too though, so I can't say anything. On another forum I'm on there was a thread, "What's your favorite scent" and one of mine was the smell of new resin. Hehe.

Other than that, Pez and Basil smell like wood. I put them in a curio cabinet for a while and when I took them out they smelled like wood! It isn't an unpleasant scent, but I took them out and out them on a shelf just to be safe. I don't particularly want them to smell like that forever!

Oh, and Dante's wig smells like shampoo. His is the only one I've really had to wash (omg, ketchup crisis!), but I have considered washing the girls' wigs just to make them smell nicer. And I have been tempted to use perfume, but like others I am kinda paranoid about it harming resin.

As for stinky clothes - no. My dolls' clothing smells pretty much just like my house. I haven't really had to wash any of their clothes (though Dante's shirt did somehow make it through with some of my clothes ), because they don't go outside except for conventions and very occasionally to dinner or such and they always sit on/play with clean things and are handled only with washed hands.

 

Yes, that would be my concern as well, that the alcohol and other chemicals in perfume might damage or pit the resin over time.

Otherwise, I'd love to let Lucifer wear perfume occasionally.
Although I too am fond of his resin smell, faint though it is, lol, I even like the way his wigs smell. ^_^

I've also thought about using baby wipes or Kandoos to clean him, but don't most of those wipes contain some type of oil, and aren't oil based products bad for resin?

 

Hehe. ^^ My dolls don't stink, thankfully-- as it's been mentioned, new resin has a bit of a scent, as does MSC. I wash their clothes every now and again, if they get stained, but they generally smell really good! :> It's from the hair product and wig conditioner I put in their hair-- Neige also has rose water in her hair, it smells as divine as she is. Tris is always a little offended that I sound so surprised to find that he smells nice. I like to give them big whiffs every now and again XD

 

My Elfdoll girl smelled sort of like a Sharpie marker when I first opened her. But, my Souldoll boy smelled different. Not bad, just different.

 

When I first got my Homme Ducan he smelled like fresh paint XD lol and the smell stuck with him for a whole day then went away. and I keep him with me constantly snuggled up to me so I smell nothing anymore.. can't leave him home because my cousins are theives and they broke into our home before -_-... and they know how much my boy costed cause mum told them... so i'd never leave him home... hmmm I should give my Kraven a cleanup anyway ^_^

 

None of my dolls have ever smelled of anything...Ringo's body had a slight scent to him when i opened the box of his body. (cause i did a split with someone, the body was brand new and only lay in the girls house for a day.) The shipping box smelled of cigaretes...but the actual CP box, cushions and body didnt smell badly.

Its a really soft and delicate smell. Almost soothing...kind of when you hug someone who isnt wearing perfume or anything like that, but they have a nice sent (maybe from a shampoo or deoderant that they put on earlier during the day.)

Of course all my other dolls are pre-loved so i dont know. I'll come back when i finally get shouyu home! she's my next new doll.

Min smells like resin. XD But it's not overly strong or anything.
Then again I've never really taken the time to notice.

 

I personally love the smell of resin, it's awesome. And my doll smells like he did when he got home.

 

I'll be sure to sniff Cora when I get her, and through the different stages of customization, and give you guys the results. ^_~

 

personally i use the smell of resin to gauge if ive bent one of my kids limbs back too far. Usually I catch a whiff of resin if i bend back a joint on one of my kids really far like their knees or wrists.

the smell also shows up when resin breaks...so if i catch a whiff of resin-fumes while im posing one of my kids..I usually either stop doing that pose or just continue with it more carefully (and then count fingers and toes when im finished)

Emilie smelled a bit like resin when i first got her, but as i've loved her it's started to wear off. xD I wash her clothes and stuff, but I don't think the resin smell will rub off onto them. o_O;;

 

Both my kids smell like sweet fresh scent of MSC!!! (lol)
i'm sorry but i just had to sniff them. it's too funny!!!

 

I'm pretty sensitive (in most every way), so new-doll smell isn't my favorite (headaches!).

My DD body still smells faintly of vinyl (but you have to inhale well and have a sensitive nose) and she's pretty old (she's a DD1) and my CP Ani (who will be two years old soon) still smells of resin inside her headcap (but only if you open it up).

Otherwise, I don't think they smell like anything. They're not around smelly stuff like smoke and I don't like perfume or artificial scents.

Perhaps some of their clothes smell like hand-lotion after I handle them? That's about it, though.
