Is your doll stinky???

My Leeke girl Kaida had a strong resin scent to her at first, but that's wearing off a little the more I play with her, change her clothes, clean her, etc. As for Nodin, my Souldoll boy, since I bought him in a store rather than straight from the company he had no resin smell.

I keep my dolls and their things pretty clean and tidy so there never really is a smell to them at all, they're as stink-free as the day I got them! Well, if you don't count the resin stink. XD

and PHEW when kai and sage arrived did it STINK >,> honestly i hate the smell of resin... it stinks to me >,>;;;;

but now that their smell is going away i'm able to love them more XD

my Kichibei refuses to wear anything but the same green and gold flowered robe. he changes his jewelry, though. the rest of my dolls change their clothes (or rather, i change theirs- oops )
i don't wash my dolls' clothes unless they get something icky on them.
no parfum! i like the smell of resin, and of their wigs.

My girl smelled quite strongly of resin at first, but it's faded quite a lot--and i've only had her for a month or so. Now she doesn't smell like much of anything.

Actually, i have such a strong association with that resin smell and her arrival that i kind of like it! You can laugh at me if you like, but it reminds me so much of how happy and excited i was when she finall got here. Yay new doll resin smell!

 

Arrival: Smelled strongly of resin/mold release.
Post washing: Smelled faintly of resin.
Post sanding: Smelled strongly of resin.
Post spraying: Smelled very faintly of resin and faintly of MSC.

Days later: Very faint, almost undetectable smell of resin, in a very comforting way.

 

When I first got her, my doll had a pretty strong smell, though it never really bothered me. Now she only has a slight resin smell.

 

<snerk> I can just picture all BJD owners who read this go running to sniff their dolls! I did - cannot smell resin at all, but some have rather potent eye putty. Am I missing something, the resin smell? I can tell you what REALLY stinks and is FOUL - some vintage hard plastic dolls from the 50s. It is a chemical reaction but not all dolls of a particular "brand" will have it - it is random - it is gross. I wonder if in time, years and years from now, some of the resins will develolp a stink from chemical reactions?

 

I have a brand-new, just out of the box girl, and I can't detect any kind of smell (hmmm, after all these comments it makes me wonder just what resin smells like!).

 

I'd never noticed a stinky doll XDDDDD (and I don't want to XD).

I wash the clothes when they get dirty (normally at the meet ups U_U).

 

My dolls only smells like MSC when they're new XD
But sometimes when I wash their wigs I throw drops of perfume

 

Just got an Obitsu---No odor

 

Maybe someone should invent BJD Deoderant for those dolls that DO stink (laughing)

 

All this talk about smell makes me think of the movie and novel "perfume: The story of a murder". Great movie/book you guys should read/watch it! Anyway.. back on topic... My dollie smells great. I love to spray their clothe with new perfume! My favorite scent is jasmine and cherry blossoms! althought my boys and girls might wear the same outfit for a while, they will never be stinky thanks to my perfumes!

 

I've actually sprayed Shou with cologne to see if the smell would stay and it went away very quickly ._.;;

I toss his clothes in with mine every now and again, but usually he stays pretty clean, since there's no sweat lol So unless I spill something on him, his clothes are fine :3

 

I loved the way my doll smelled the first few days after his arrival, resin smells GREAT!

I think I'll wash his clothes sometimes just because of dust or if I spill something on him (which I hope doesn't happen)

 

My doll smells plasticy I think. I think it's the eye putty but the smell does linger around the head and into the body.

 

Thats funny like the new car smell!

The box Emilio came in smelled really bad. My mom nearly got sick when we were opening it. Turns out it's his eye putty least I think it is. His still smells like it even though I've had him for a little over a month now.
