Is your doll stinky???

*Giggle* Siru has a very distinct smell, not bad, oh no, and it's not an aroma, but I smell the top of his head, it conforts me ^_^;;

 

I agree wholeheartedly. You are not alone. The new doll smell is amazing. I, too, am guilty of removing Mephisto's headcap for the sole purpose of sniffing the inside of his head. I'm probably actually inhaling leftover resin particles, but whatever. It's worth it. =p

In regards to the original poster's question, I don't spray perfume on my doll's clothing, but I do wrap them around a few sticks of incense or put a bar of scented soap in the box I keep the clothing in. I only wash dark clothing, so that I don't get icky streaks on my dolls.

 

the only time i think a doll smells bad is when they get some new wigs, i forgot the company,,but i think its lutz wigs or something that always smell like,, chemicals,, or bad feet,, or something T_T which i think calls for some spray on shampoo/parfume ><;as;kldjf

 

I had trouble getting rid of the smell of MSC off a Volks body and followed the advice from another forum to use cool aid to dye a fur wig, now she has lovely pink hair hair and smells like fruit salad..... and if I REALLY deperate, i pinch my daughters Strawberry Shortcake hair extensions, they're grape and lemon scented!!!!

 

I wash my doll clothes occasionally to keep them from looking dirty.

 

I hate it when I buy new clothes for my boys and the seller has used cheap fabric softener to wash them. I don't like soapy smells anyway, but cheap soap I have to wash the stuff straight away or hang them on the washing line to air them out or I can't play with my dolls. I love the smell of fruit. I was going to spray my dolls wigs with perfume to make them smell nice.

 

I am very sensitive to smell... and resin doesn't smell good right out of the box but all of my dolls have a normal smell now (I don't leave them in their boxes though)

 

I've also stuck a rose scented candle in the bag for one of my doll's wigs her name is rosemarie so I figured it would fit nicely

 

My CP dolls have never had a strong odor that I noticed before. But my Bambicrony light slate gray Pepe just arrived today, and even from six feet away, I can smell a very strong "new doll smell". lol I have to wonder if its because of the unusual color of the resin that the doll itself stinks, or if its just from the foam packaging they packed her in.

And will it go away? It isn't exactly pleasant. But I love my girly, anyhoo! ^_^

 

LOL! Same here,you cant beat that new doll smell! Actually my Segeis box that he came in smells really nice too.

Anyway,usually my boys have to wear the same clothes until I make some new ones.I guess they are a bit smelly. :P

 

ALL of my dolls have a deffinate resin smell, though usually not strong. When I first opened my new Lati red... WOW that was a strong resin smell. And I'm not one of those folk who loves the resin smell THAT much. It doesn't bug me, but it's not something I WANT to smell recreationally or anything. >.>

But other than that, once they've been out of box, there's no noticable smell. (Unless you take the head cap off and stick your nose inside, I guess) Some of my dolls have some clothes that are made with vintage fabric... and those smell like vintage fabric. But the dolls don't stay in them long, and the doll doesn't carry that smell at all. Only the outfit itself.

Do I wash the outfits? Not yet. But then, the dolls don't wear them for that long, and I've owned most of my dolls for like 6 months. (and their clothes less time than that.) I'm sure I will. In time.

You made me sniff my doll...I got her Friday...its monday o.O Resin smell in the joints...uh kinda like saw dust and glue and a nail place mixed o.O

 

The inside of Saoirse's joints smell like... spray paint. x___x
I love it, though. Sometimes I sniff her joints just cause they have that lovely chemically smell. XD

 

Stormlight the resin smell on BC dolls go away. I can't say the same for Dream of Doll resin. My doll is months old and she still has faint smell of new resin

 

my Narin boy smelled so good when i first got him im not sure if it's the resin or something Narin Creative sprays on them but I loved it It sucks though because it's all but faded away :\ i did have some tissues with the smell that i keep in with his wig when it's not on him to keep his head smelling good atleast lol.. if it's something they spray on the dolls then Narin Creative needs to sell the stuff! I'd buy it! *bounces*

 

Well, after reading most of these posts, I had to go and smell all of my BJDs and I can say (with a straight face) that I am NOT a resin junkie. Sniffff...aaahhhh...nope, not a ...oooooh...hmmm...

 

My DZ Ying has a very strong chemical smell, I really like it and it hits me when he's been "trapped" somewhere like in his box or a cupboard but my other DZ, a tanned Cosmo doesn't have the odour at all. My environmental resin dolls (two Island Dolls and a 5StarDoll) also do not have an odour.
As for their clothes, well I'm relatively new to the hobby so everything is still quite fresh but I have had to wash Isaac's leggings a couple of times as he loves to be outdoors and has got them dirty with lily pollen and my dog also chucked his dirty tennis ball at him :-(

 

My floating head laid in a box next to some 'rosesmelling' soap. know he smells like lilac xDDDDD I just LOVE it.

 

It's probably not the same thing you guys are talking about, but one of my dolls "gives off" a scent. I constantly blame it on his incubi roots.

Because I can't find a logical explanation on how he can smell like one thing one day (baby powder) when in one mood, and another thing (strawberries or honey) another day when he's feeling...extra happy.

It's not my shampoo. I haven't used strawberries since I moved out in April. Actually, way before that. O_O

And it's totally random, too.

But they do smell nice. I don't think I've ever had one that stunk unless it was right after spraying their face and honestly you're not supposed to inhale that. XD
