1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

It Just Makes Me Want to Sell Them!

Jan 16, 2010

    1. There's probably a bit of this in all of us, but it's so subjective. And probably depends on what sort of mind we are in on any given day. Some are up days and there are those down days too.

    2. PinkPoodle I hope you can resolve all of your issues with your doll. I have collected dolls for as long as I can remember and I love every single one of them. I love to make clothes for my dolls and enjoy looking at my dolls. I don't play with my dolls except to change their clothes from time to time, to me they are more of an art than a toy. I did have one doll that I couldn't bond with until I sold the body that came with her and bought her a new body. Now she is probably number 5 on my list of favorites instead of number 20. I still have to tweek her face-up a little so that it's more to my liking.

My hubby thinks my dolls are creepy too but I don't care, we've been married for over 35 years and he knows when to keep quiet. He has his own hobbies that frankly don't appeal to me either and he doesn't care. My 2 sons think my dolls are very creepy so when they are here I try to keep as many as possible in my room and not spread out around the house. My daughter likes dolls and so does one of my granddaughters but the other granddaughter only likes some of them. To each their own, if you like your doll then that's all that matters.

    3. There are ups and downs to the hobby. What you choose to make of it determines your enjoyment of the hobby.

@ Reason 1: I have a MSD and I am perfectly fine with the clothing available . . . what exactly are you talking about all the "cool" clothes beng or SD? There's nice clothing for all sizes, really. I sew clothing too though; maybe that's something you can get into.

@ Reason 2: Something has to click eventually, it'll hit you. Just saying how nothing works will get you nowhere.

@ Reason 3: You can't let other people's opinions bug you so much. Not everyone is going to love your dolls. If you like them, then that's that. Who cares what others say? It's just like you saying "Oh everyone keeps telling me this chair I bought should be red, not brown, and it makes me want to give up buying furniture."

    4. Reason 1: I agree, MSD often get the short end of the stick compared to SDs, but Yo-SDs have it even worse. Most of the best clothes for them are made by Soom.

Reason 2: Face-ups are hard, but that's the beauty of them being impermanent.

Reason 3: The only people who will understand doll people are other collector-type people. My most understanding friend collects transformers. She now has her own BJD, having seen the appeal.

    5. It's normal for me, if you can't bond with your doll.
You've tried, but you still feel, "We're not bonding".
It's your right if you want to sell your doll to someone whom can bond with your doll.

But yes, agree with everyone, perhaps try to design & sew outfits for your doll.
      Or commissioning designers or seamstresses.
DoA has a load of wonderful & talented designers, seamstresses & face up artists. :)

And somehow, learn to ignore those sayings, for example "Your doll is creepy".
Maybe they're afraid or have trauma toward dolls, that's why all dolls are creepy for them.

If they say it again & again, you can reply them with a joke,
"Oh, creepy? No~ My dollie is beautiful~ But if you keep calling my dollie creepy creppyyy, hmmm, I have no guarantee that my doll won't be truly creepppppppppppyyyyy~~~" 8D

    6. 1: There really is a lot of great doll clothing out there. Just keep on searching or even commission if you have to and believe me there are many talented people out there that will happily let you commission some gorgeous clothes for your doll.
If all that is too expensive then you could try to sew for your doll, but personally I am pretty terrible when it comes to sewing and would rather dish out the money for clothing then go through all the frustration of trying to make something myself.

2: Doing face ups isn't easy for anyone at first! Just keep on trying and looking up tutorials for face ups on here and youtube as well. Eventually you'll be able to make her face up look the way you'd like it to, just don't give up before you get to that point.

3: People are going to say rude things in any hobby and this one is no exception. Don't give up or your dolls if you truly do enjoy them. At the end of the day the only thing that matters is if you make YOURSELF happy.

I wish you the best with whatever decision you end up making.
      ;)

    7. I've had issues with particular dolls, but not the hobby itself. I was almost tempted to give up on a specific doll once, and it made me really sad. Maybe sad enough to stop buying any dolls for a certain period of time, until I learned to be more careful and cognizant of what I'm getting into when making a purchase, but not enough to give up on dolls as a whole, or to rid myself of the rest of my collection.

    8. I sold my soom teenie gem to a lady recently. I shipped her out yesterday and it felt so weird to know she was gone. But I'm happy I sold her, I spent a majority of that money twoards my new girl that I'm about to pay off. It wasn't that I didn't like her, she just had a few things that bothered me.

      1. White resin. It's pretty to look at but I'm not a fan of it anymore. I found that depending on the company a doll can look kinda green and I tend to keep white resin dolls in their boxes for that reason and I can't enjoy them.

      2. I never got around to do anything with her. She's basically been sitting in her box.

      3. I decided I would sell her to someone who could truly enjoy her and I would use the cash to buy my 'dream doll'

Over all I'm very very happy with my decision to sell her, she went to a great home!
And when my new girl arrives I'll be even less regrettful about my decision. :)

    9. Reason 1 is that I can't find the right personality for my msd doll, and I think a lot of the problem is because all of the cool clothes that would be awesome for her are all sd sized. Why do sd dolls get all the cool clothes and shoes?

My suggest: Me too, but more you think about it, more you willl not find the right personality. I just let the dolls will 'teach' me their personality with 'time' and patience.

Reason 2 is that I just can't get the right faceup. I did a faceup, and it was OK. My friend did a faceup and it looks wonderful but my doll still doesn't look right to me.

My suggest: I made the faceup just once in my life and that's was enough. I understood that for me, is it better that I'll purchase dolls complete with faceup. I don't have interest to change their 'faces' after all. I prefer to change their wigs, eyes or dress. If you can't get the right faceup, maybe you are not oriented to do so, just like me. There's people who really love so much to do it, and infact, they made it.

Reason 3 is that I'm so sick of everyone constantly calling my dolls creepy. OK, you told me that my doll is creepy when you first saw it. I know you think it's creepy. You don't have to keep telling me over and over that you think my doll is creepy.

My suggest: People who don't understand dolls and this hobby of course would always saying that. But I will not give up my passion just because someone says to me it's 'creepy'. I'll just avoid to share my hobbyes with people that can't understand it. Or try nicely to let them know that I'm tired to hear them to say always the same things. If they are friends and respect you , they should do this.
