1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Keeping calm when a complete disaster doll arrives

May 10, 2019

    1. You can actually drill into resin. You could look at other feet from other companies and see what options you have to attach the S-hooks to the ankles.
If they're just ordinary feet and IH sells separate feet, you could order the darkest they have and blush them to match. Or just hide them with socks and/or boots.

If the scratches are from the earrings, they shouldn't be too deep. If you take off the face-up you can check the damage. Maybe light sanding will be enough.

I once dropped a doll on his face. I managed to get the dent out of his nose with hot steam, but he has a small but deep scratch under his eye. Because of his dark (brownish grey) skin I decided it wasn't going to be possible to fix it properly, so I decided to go the other way and make it a small scar.

    2. My Volks SwD Lucas was a second hand purchase and he came with two broken fingers, due to a post office mishap. I could've glued them back, but since he's a thief-character I decided to keep it this way. Instead, I sanded the 'stumps' so they'd look like a natural amputation and thus Cicero was born.

Is it just the resin loop that broke, or did the entire 'stump' break? Either way, it should be a relative easy fix. Like people already said, you could make that same thing from Epoxie. This stuff is hard as heck and should be able to hold the tension of the string.
Those stumps aren't hard to make. The only thing you have to keep in mind is that the width is small enough that it won't interfere with the leg joint, but if you still have the original, you can use that as a guide.

Another option is to add a screw eye to the foot (create a little bed of epoxie if you're afraid you'll drill through the foot) and make sure you put strong glue on the end when you screw it in the resin, to prevent the eye from coming out when the elastic pulls at it. The screw eye/s-hook combo is as old as the first BJD's. It's a tested method.

And lastly, if you still have all the pieces of the broken loop, gluing them back together with a two-part epoxie glue should also do the trick. It's a strong glue that works with resin. I use the red Bison Epoxy glue myself, because it comes in a tube that evenly dispenses both parts and it has never failed me in my sculpting endeavors.

    3. I've had 2 dolls arrive broken both from a store. They were great & sent me replacement parts right away. One of the reasons I like to buy from doll shops. They take care of the problem & there's no language problems.
