Kinoko Juice is run by a 2 person 1 dog team: Codi and Kame and their pug Komugi. Codi is in charge of sculpting and faceups while Kame is in charge of clothing production and their web presence. These dolls had extremely limited production and no sales outside of Japan so they were well known for being painful and expensive to obtain. Luckily these dolls don't require a bloodbath to obtain anymore. Check out KJ's Etsy for an easy way to buy their dolls directly. KJ lovers in Japan (or willing to use a proxy) can shop on KJ's Webstore. Currently in the line up: 23 cm: Kiki Munyukuchi :3, Kiki Hoekuchi :⚬, and Jill Both Kiki and Jill use nearly the same body with the difference being Jill has a chest. 16 cm: Nia :⚬ and Haine :3 Two tiny cat girls with ears, paws, and a tail 26.5 cm: Luna and Shizuku Luna looks a little like Jill, while Shizuku is very stylized like Kiki. Shizuku features sculpted eyelashes and dripping eyes. 20 cm: POWDER A little unicorn girl with hoof feet, a magnetic horn, and movable ears. In progress: 1/3 girl, 1/6 girl You can buy them as blank, more basic, or basic from Etsy. B grade dolls are also available. They come in a ton of colors as well! Not all colors are available at all times, so please be patient and hopefully your preferred color and doll combination will appear. Unfortunately, Kikipop is not on topic for this forum, but if a brigadoon thread is created, I will link it here. DoA Wiki page TL Note: Kinoko means mushroom.
I got a Shizuku (with faceup, eyes and wig) through their Etsy a while back. They only sell in-stock dolls, so she was shipped very quickly. In two days if I remember correctly. However, for anyone thinking of buying the resin Kinoko Juice dolls, you should note that there is a chance of the colour of the head and body not quite matching ... My Shizuku's body came yellower than her head, The difference is more distinct in person than in photos, but also not too noticeable when the doll is clothed. They do mention that there might be 'colour unevenness' and that it''s not considered a defect. Still, I did not expect the head and body to be different colours... so I was initially a little disappointed when I first took her out. Shizuku is very cute in person though and I adore her faceup. And she came packed well and securely with cute packaging. Oh, and another thing, she is single-jointed, so her posing is rather basic and limited. Anyway, I noted the colour difference in my Etsy review and Kinoko Juice PM'd me to explain. Here's their explanation. Shizuku's body parts have a different molding method from other parts. The material is urethane resin, but the body parts are hollow molded, so the toning method is different from other parts, and the colors look a little different. I have since gotten over the colour difference but I know that's something that can really bother some collectors, so just thought I'd share my experience here.
Nice thread For anyone considering a Shizuku/Luna|Kiki/Jill hybrid, it is entirely possible. Their neck sizes are a little different, but with light modding (or none at all) their heads fit on both bodies. I think you'll have to go with Ivory resin for both, since Shizuku and Luna are currently only sold in Whitey Orange and Ivory, and Kiki and Jill haven't been produced in Whitey Orange as far as I know (Pale Orange is a different color entirely). This is what that looks like (ft. cat kiss). My Shizuku arrived with colors matching fine, but mine was blank. So I think it's possible the head and body came from different batches but I'm not really sure what hollow molding means in this context.
@namika It's really good to know that. I would be disappointed as well if I opened up a brand new doll to an obvious color difference. I'm glad it didn't ruin her for you. Shizuku is such an adorable sculpt. I do have to wonder what "hollow molding" implies though. Maybe something lost in translation... @apple for you Shizuku on Jill's body is so cute Hopefully they'll release Luna/Shizuku in more colors. Maybe they changed methods between your Shizuku and the more recent ones. Either way, the mismatch is very strange!
Kinoko Juice has announced 2 new skin tones! Luna is coming out in "pure white skin" and Shizuku is getting "tears blue". Neither are available yet on Etsy. I wonder if pure white is going to be very different from white, which is already paper white! Tears blue is much lighter than "dark mint" and I'm sure it'll be perfect for a melancholic girl.
I LOVE Kinoko Juice (and all the Kikipops) dolls! I have some Jill, Kiki, and hybrids (Jill heads Kiki bodies and Kiki heads Jill bodies). I don't have cats or taller girls yet. (Someday!) Super excited for the possible eventual reveal of the unicorn girl! I don't have fantasy colors yet, but eventually I may. I enjoy their sizing, even off odd, yosd shoes/socks and 7/8 wigs, and some Barbie clothes and whatnot (hit or miss fun to try new things!) They're fun!
@The_Modern_Maiden I believe KJ is hoping to release their little unicorn next year! I'm crossing my fingers for it! I wonder what size she'll be? I'm guessing she'll be Nia/Haine size! I'm really hoping to see 58chan and I hope she'll be released sometime in the next few years. Kiki fits in a Daiso Licca sized hakama I have. The loose hips on it are perfect because she doesn't fit in the yukata at all! I have some littlefee maryjanes that technically fit on her feet, but they are pretty loose. The top of her feet are so tall that it's a challenge to find anything that fit on her feet.
I have a Daiso hakama too! But it seems like your mileage for the hakama might vary as while the bottom part fits well, the top is very tight on my Shizuka, especially round the arms. I did buy a lot of other short-sleeved Daiso doll dresses for Shizuka and most of them fit perfectly! Expect for the high school sailor fuku which is waaay too short and doesn't even cover her bum. All in all, Daiso is a good source for clothing but stick to short-sleeves and medium to long dresses..
Codi just posted a photo of 2 unicorns! Apparently they're around 20 cm, so a little smaller than Kiki. I'm really curious about the hoof hands. It almost looks like they only have 3 fingers per hand. https://twitter.com/kinokojuice_/status/1599381395243433985
If the winner of the Shizuku that sold today on eBay is on here, please PM me. The seller intentionally left out information that you should know.
Sorry for the double post, but our little unicorns were given the name POWDER (must be screamed in all caps when said). They'll be shown in person at Doll Show 68 on the 22nd and will be released for sale in February or March. They are 20 cm tall. ドールショウ68冬に参加いたします。We will participate in Doll Show 68 Winter. | KINOKOJUICE BLOG 「キノコジュース味」
POWDER will be sold via lottery. Winners will be notified via email on the 2nd of April Japan time. I must admit that the unicorns are growing on me quite a bit ;-; I would love a pure white skin with a pink and mint-green theming. I won't be entering, but good luck to those who will be!
Thanks for the head up! I'm tempted to enter! But I think the winners will be notified on 3-4 April not 2 April? It looks likes the lottery acceptance period is 2 to 3 April then the winners will be notified within 24 hours after the end of the lottery acceptance period. Lottery Entry e-mails reception Date and Time : From 12:00 on April 2nd (Sun) to 12:00 on April 3rd (Mon) (TOKYO time) - Lottery result - Within 24 hours after the end of the lottery acceptance period, we will send E-mail "You won the Powder lottery" only to those who have won the lottery.
I wonder if the lottery system is based on the complexity of selling dolls with so many color options. Without taking doing made to order, POWDER is definitely a difficult doll to sell! Perhaps the extras will end up on Etsy later.
Oh I see, yeah I might have misunderstood that lol. Thanks! Yeah I think this is the best explanation. So many colour combinations that I think a pre-order would be overwhelming if they get many orders!
The lottery for POWDER is open today/tonight/tomorrow! Good luck to anyone entering! I'm looking forward to seeing what kinds of combinations end up being made. There are some colors that will probably be requested more. I wonder if there are enough of the same that they will just stock their store as usual. Whoever ends up winning, please let us know more about how those ears work!
The lottery opened today (2 April)! It opened at noon Japan time which was 11 in the morning for me. I sent an email. Wish me luck!
Good luck everyone! I'm not entering but I hope all of you who do will win and post your new little unicorn baby here for us all to see
