1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Layaway or Paid in Full

Sep 23, 2022

    1. I prefer paying in full, a few times I have done a layaway but mostly ended up paying it off early.

    2. I like paying in full, if I can’t afford to pay it off all in one go then I can’t afford it full stop. It just makes everything easier than managing multiple payments that I will inevitably forget I have to pay lol.

    3. I prefer paying in full, less stress about sudden changes in finance that way and if I know I've got the money to afford the doll I feel better.

    4. I've done both. I like PIF because then you get the doll sooner and there's a little less uncertainty about when they'll be coming, but I really appreciate having layaways to break payments up over longer periods of time. I can always pay more than my monthly amount if I'm able to, and having that set amount each month helps me budget all my finances overall. If I don't have the set amount to pay each month, even if i could PIF, then i will spend that money on other things as I see them, so it helps me not make more impulse purchases xD

    5. I definitely prefer paying in full -- I haven't had the chance to do a layaway on a doll yet, but even if I had the option, I don't think I'd take it. I feel like it would just allow me to impulse buy more than I already do, and I already have a wedding to save up for, hahaha!

    6. I’m a self-confessed “queen of the layaways”.;) From the very beginning of my time in this hobby, I availed myself of the option because it fit so seamlessly into my regular household budget. I just simply pay an affordable amount every month while awaiting the doll. And I roll those payments comfortably alongside my regular household bills without having to think too much about it. I know exactly how much I can afford, so it just becomes an automatic thing every month until it’s paid. It’s worked out perfectly for me over the years, and I have the amazing collection of my dreams today because of it.

    7. I like using pay in 4 apps like Klarna, Afterpay, and Paypal's Pay-in-4: the seller gets the money paid in full while I get to take my time paying that money off over the length of 2 or so months.

It works best for most sellers that don't have layaways like Mandarake or Dollpamm.

    8. I prefer layaway but I’m always paranoid I’ll not see the second invoice and have my order canceled

    9. I prefer to pay in full. I did a couple of layaways back in the day, and most places wouldn't even order or start casting your doll until it was paid off; which just makes the wait that much longer.

Now though, if I don't have enough to pay in full, I can just use my paypal credit to pay for it and have 6 months without interest to pay that off.

    10. I prefer to pay in full so I get the item(s) sooner, but like a couple of people have said, I tend to use paypal credit which lets you pay off within 6 months at 0 interest, so in a way it's pretty much the same thing.

    11. I generally hate the idea of loans and layaways, plus dolls aren't a necessity, so I'd not buy them if I had to use layaway for it. So, always in full ;)

    12. I usually do layaway, a lot easier for me financially ^^

    13. For most of my dolls I've used pre-order but pay off quickly.
