1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Leaving your dolls in the box over a period of time

Oct 1, 2009

1. I am the opposite! I feel guilty if I leave them out! I worry about them yellowing a lot! I preffer to keep them safely packed and only get them out for oics and dollmeets (not that that happens often) or conventions. Infact I have two out right now I should put away.

2. I used to keep my dolls in their boxes before I had volks couches for them -- I never felt bad about it at all! In fact, I'm really jealous. I wish someone could put me in a fluffy box for 2 weeks and I could SERIOUSLY catch up on sleep! Actually, I really love sleep (if left to my own devices, will sleep 12-14 hours even if not sleep deprived, just because I enjoy it!), so I feel like when I put my dolls in the box it's like putting them into sleeping hibernation. So yeah, I feel really happy for them! And still jealous ._.

Actually, now that they have couches and sit out on my dresser all the time, I always have to keep the curtains in my room closed (I have full length windows for an entire wall of my room which would let in a TON of light) so now my room is always really dark and I don't often spend time in it... maybe I should start storing them in boxes again @.@ I wish I had a cupboard that I could set up a whole doll Panorama in... that would DEFINITELY be the best solution! :D

3. I honestly wouldn't feel guity if I were you! ;) As lots of people have said, they're out of sunlight and harm's way, so it's not as though you're harming them. I've also found that after my dolls have had a stay in their boxes (like when I decorated my room, or when i wanted to re-invent a character so put the doll away so I could think about it without seeing it as it already looked) I've enjoyed them even more once I've got them out again. Don't stress :)

4. I've been doing that since I got mine... Or at least for my SD xP... I think its sad, becasue I would really love to see them all the time.... but I am just way too busy....
My Tiny is small enough to be right next to me right now xD

I cleaned up my room recently so I found a place to store them =3
I just need to arrange something and they wont be in boxes anymore >w<

I still like to keep them somewhere closed more then just laying around where they could be broken or something though =P

5. I guess each person is different! Some people think that putting them in boxes is better, while others like to keep them out where everyone can see them. I don't think either choice is wrong; there really is not right or wrong thing to do.

Hm... I wonder what I would do when I get my first BJD?

6. My Lestat has been in his box for a while now. I feel bad, but its not safe for him to sit out cause of my cats always knocking things over! Plus, his nose needs to be sanded and i don't have the money to get someone to do it for me. So for now my little vamp says in his little blue coffin XD

7. I feel guilty when I don't play with my doll but when I play with her like taking photos I feel happy.

8. don't feel bad about it, the box is safest for now. I keep mine in their carriers when I don't feel like seeing them for a while, al tucked up and cosy. they don't seem upset about it XD so I won't be either.
I once boxed them up just to find out if I would miss them, they remained in the box for months. just knowing that they were waiting safely was enough then. one of them then got sent on his face-up mission, I figured that if I wasn't seeing him at home, he might as well get a really lovely faceup done by a real great artist.
so don't feel bad, you can always unpack them when you're ready

9. I don’t feel guilty about it. I often leave they in the boxes when I know that I can’t spend my time with them.
They are save and out of light too.
And I don’t believe they miss me)

10. My french resin Naraes are in their boxes most of the time. Stops rapid yellowing, plus I see no need to keep them on display constantly for no good reason. They come out for pictures and when I just want to admire them :)

11. Now, it's different for me I think. I keep my dolls out all the time in special display rooms in parts of my home with subdued lighting. That way, when I walk by them thoroughout the day, it's like I'm getting to interact with them and enjoy them all the time.:) That said, I can totally see keeping your dolls in the box if you're getting ready to move, or if you play with your dolls in a different way (like only taking them out for specific playtimes and photography sessions, etc.) The box keeps them safe after all! But for me, a doll only stays in the box immediately after I receive them while they wait for their face-up, wig and costume. So if a doll stays in its box any longer than a couple of weeks without my touching it, I definitely know it's a bonding issue and it's time to post it in the marketplace.;)

12. Definitely there are different situations. I still have pets, though, that produce fine dust that I suspect is statically adhesive (including two geriatric cockatiels still producing dust off their feather tips, as well as seed hull bits and dust). I'd love to keep all of my dolls out, but I'd be mostly bonding with them through constantly dusting them off and getting neurotic about their faceups. (Which isn't to say that a rotating crew shares my daybed, covered with a throw when I leave. But everybody gets a rest in their private condos! (Especially since real-life often insists on long peirods without play time, unfortunately, too.)

13. Mine are out, always, and I don't keep the boxes. But that's just the way *I* prefer to enjoy them and nobody ever said I qualified as "normal" :)

Now, if my doll space were upstairs in the sun, I'd have to give it another round of consideration, probably, especially since the UV is REALLY intense at this elevation. But down here in my office area? We call it the "Dungeon of Anime" for a reason. Nothing like a below-grade room for keeping out harmful solar radiation! ;)

14. I have never put my dolls away in their boxes, and even if I wanted to, it would just take up too much room! My dolls have developed their own little living space on my wide desk and they seem comfy and content there while I'm at work or off doing something else. Hardly any light filters in so they are safe from the UV rays of the sun as well.

With that said, if they were ever put away, I wouldn't feel guilty per se, but I know I'd really miss looking at them. I don't think I would be able to keep them in their boxes for more than a day, although some of them have remained in their carrying cases after a meet-up over night before just because I was too lazy to put them back on the desk hehe.

15. My dolls are currently in carriers in the back of my closet right now, since I'm
A: recovering from moving out on my own
B: working on getting curtain rods and light-blocking curtains
C: making arrangements for them to have a place to be once the curtains are in place.

I do miss them, but they're safer where they are until I have a good place for them to be and get the window situation taken care of.

16. My doll spends most of his time in his box.
I get him out to play with him and dress him, but when im done he goes right back in.
I don't put the top back on but i put his pillow and a blanket on top of him.

17. I guess for mine...none of them have seen their boxes since they came into this house. Once I knew they were on their way I ordered carry bags, either hard side or heavily padded for each of them. They get put in their trek sak and that goes into the bag...all safely sealed and snug as a bug in a rug. Now all their bags are stored in my hallway where I can get to them at a moments notice.

18. I like them safely put away.

I never used to. I used to like to keep them out, but now, the only doll that's (mostly) together and painted in kept in a wooden box, with her clothes.

The others that need sold or repainted are kept in boxes. I like watching TV with her though. But if she's on display in my room (which has 4 large windows and an even larger glass slider door) she would be too exposed to sunlight all the time.

That's how I enjoy her, so its OK. : )

19. I can't member if I posted or not...
but I keep My doll Miwa out usually, because my room has huge black curtains (cuz I'm nocturnal....XD) and I carry them around the house when I'm bored and I'll watch TV with them (and I haven't had Nori long enough to really know how I take care of him...) but I guess he usually hangs out with me more now since he is easier to carry around lol
poor neglected Miwa...

20. I don't usually put mine away unless things are being rearranged in my room and I need to put them somewhere safe. I enjoy looking at them and none of my pets have shown an interest in them. I'd actually be more worried to leave them in the box, since who knows if the boxes are acid-free or if rubbing against a colored cardboard will leave stains...

...but maybe I am just being overly paranoid.
