Today I ordered my Tinman! I hope he won't take to long to get to me. May I request some spam to celebrate?
just got my shipping notice on my tinman who has been tentatively named gizmo. we'll see if the name sticks after he is all painted up. of course i still have a couple of weeks probably for him to arrive, shipping here can be frightfully slow, but he is on his way
so i was wrong, little gizmo arrived today already! (just in time for me to take a quick peek and then have to pack him up quick 'cause my boys bus got home) but i'll be pulling him out for a better look tomorrow and seeing what eyes he has or needs. what size does he take if i order some? i was planning to get the ersa flora glow in the dark, blue, and have them ready for him, but he arrived here way quicker than i expected! leeels service is definitely fast right now - for blank dolls at least.
Quick question for everybody with a tinman. I opened up Beep yesterday and there are strange drilling holes in his headback! They are really close to the outer surface. Does Your Tinman have this? ??? von Yarnlia auf Flickr
Oh, I never really noticed that, but after checking, my Rivet does have little holds on the top of his head too. So I guess it's in the molds.
I'll have to double-check Tink when I'm home from work, but I'm pretty sure he has them too. I thought maybe they were hollows for tiny magnets to help keep his hat(s) on maybe? o_o; Edit - Yup he's got them too, except he's got three little holes. Kinda weird, I suppose if you're really worried you could always fill them with a teeny-tiny bit of putty?
Here is my painted one. Honestly the paint job was great but the color they used...don't know what they were thinking. He is literally a silver blue. They offered to repaint him, but I send him to a dear friend who is going to work on him to make him darker, more gray silver than blue silver and maybe rust him up a bit. I got my tinman ages ago and was worried about taking him apart as well, but when it came to it - once the arms and legs were unhooked - everything was easy and since he was so perfectly strung - I could use the original elastic. I have never painted any sort of doll before - but have painted models and such so I got stuck in. I used acrylic paints and Matt spray acrylic varnish. Thanks - it is funny really - I read up for ages on face ups and so on - but once I got stuck in - it was really quite easy - all that worry for nothing

HHi just wondering, if I want extras for the tinman I have, can I get them on their own or will I have to order another tinman to get extra parts? yarnlia, yes I have those holes, I never noticed before? I wonder if the face b face with frown has same holes? Beep is so cute, with his naughty expression, he looks like he is up to mischief. they ship really fast too, so you shouldn't have very long to wait for them (unless you got them painted....)
