1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Long distance moving! …with lots of dolls.

Mar 2, 2022

    1. Excluding Kazu, who came in my carry-on as the smallest and most irreplacable, I sent my dolls ahead as my husband's checked luggage when we moved from NYC to Japan. It was terrifying because I thought they were going to get hurt by customs inspectors @__@

I got a big plastic footlocker with multiple attachment points for locks and cabletied + carabinered the lid shut so it couldn't be accidentally opened. Cut cableties let me know that the box had been opened. Everyone got a clear faceup protector (or a Starbucks frappacino lid, let's be real) and bubblewrap mittens and they were packed in layers with blankets. I taped a description of the contents ("vinyl doll with plastic frame", "resin doll with elastic string and aluminum wire", etc) to the inside of the lid to offer an immediate explanation to anyone who wanted to inspect it after x-raying. The inspectors must have read it because the TSA slip was on top but they didn't unpack it.

    2. I'm moving to different places like every 2 years. 3 months ago I moved like 2 hours away from where I used to live but I'm lucky I don't have a super big collection. I have like 30 dolls but only half of it are SDs. I also collect many other type of dolls. I always put my dolls in my car. They fit somehow and I'm the only one who can touch them. People help me with my stuff but nobody touches what's in my car. I keep all my doll boxes for the moving process.

    3. I suggest moving by car! It's much safer. I moved twice, once by car and another by shipping. Maybe because I moved between countries, so when I receive my dolls(70+ dolls), I lost a head plate, and a finger broke off of my other doll. If I had a choice I will not ship them, and shipping is extremely expensive if your package is big.

    5. yes, you absolutely can :) nothing against having dolls on board. I have never even had issues with their s-hooks and stuff myself, but you can pack them separately to be safe than sorry!

    6. I’ve always wondered if they don’t let you bring them on a carry on bag because of the magnets…So you can bring them then?

    7. I have never had any problems with magnets in carry ons, be they souvenir fridge magnets or doll headcaps. Magnets used in dolls are small and not super strong and generally totally fine in the cabin.
