Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Long term dolly goals.

Nov 3, 2023

    1. This is my long term plan as well. I’ve been slowly collecting since 2006 and I never got into this hobby to be buying new resin forever, but here we are.:sweat In an effort to complete my collection once and for all, I added a few new sculpts this year…and then added a few more just for good measure.:doh This has to be it, I swear! My dream for the coming years is to enjoy refining the fantasy world I’ve created for myself with my collection. I’d love to create more fascinating costumes to really stretch my sewing skills with an occasional special outfit (at a much slower pace, taking my time with it rather than working so hard just to make sure each doll has a “functioning wardrobe”.) And I’d love to be able to purchase some fabulous outfits by other designers to add more diversity along with all the things I’ve made myself. And I want to continue refining my displays for my various doll groupings, enhancing their artistic creativity with special props and lighting. All of this will be possible once all my time, focus, and discretionary income isn’t tied up in long layaways for new resin.:eusa_naug

    2. I have two dolls (Impldoll Carlee and Resinsoul Mai) I need to buy to finish one of my MSD crews. In addition, I do eventually want to get a Luts Bliss. There's also two Volks DD heads I own that need MDD bodies. But after those, I genuinely will have no major long-term doll-buying plans. I have an SD crew I could finish with three more dolls, but space is an issue so I have made peace with rethinking those three.

It's gonna be wild not having plans. I think my plans might zero in on faceups and improving them over time, but it could be possible I continue buying dolls that strike my fancy. I'll have to see.

    3. As for dolls, I'm trying to slow myself down on collecting! I've got one preorder coming up I want to join, and there was an interest check for a different doll that, if it does end up getting made, I'd be ordering. But the latter at least means the interest check would have to succeed and get its minimum of 20 people. (Which, @Teddy plus-size SD doll at UKBJD? I wonder if it's the same one you got!)

I feel like I'm pretty quick on getting around to basic wig, faceup, and eyes. Clothes depends on the size, and I do have wardrobes I want to fill out more in particular beyond my usual random clothesmaking, but right now, nobody is naked.

I think my biggest long-term goal at this point is setting up their "home." They've already moved from a little Ikea cabinet the size of a nightstand to a proper display cabinet. Right now, in the practical world, it needs some more furnishings. I thrift some here and there, but not enough to fill it out much, so I might have to acquiesce and buy some new. I want to be able to set up a dollhouse of sorts for them.

In my fantasy world, I would love to buy a small house with a spare bedroom I could turn into a craft room. Especially one with a closet I could transform into a big dollhouse. And storage for clothes and doll boxes, of course. Ah, the dream.

    4. My two biggest long long term goals are 1. Sculpt my own doll/s and 2. BJD horse. I have a lot of ideas for both but time, energy, motivation and the weather all need to work together for those.

Shorter long term goals include everyone having a complete faceup, wig, clothes and shoes. Better doll scale furniture (currently their bench seat is a cardboard box and it's not great). A better photography setup so I can actually get around to photographing them as more of an artistic endeavour rather than just a practical means to show people what I've done.

In terms of actually buying dolls, I have a list of dolls that if the doll became available and the price +shipping was right, I would seriously consider and probably like one that if it became available then I would jump on it immediately so long as the price wasn't excessive (but am currently either trying to find a more viable alternative or sculpt a doll that fits those requirements myself). Even in that list, I'm pretty specific about resin colour and body options.

    5. I think long term plans are a new to the hobby thing. My first year was like, “I am going to ideally have these nine dolls eventually, and here are their exact sculpts and the faceups styles I want, then I’ll start on wardrobes from these three stores…”

Now it’s like, “I should take pictures more and maybe repaint that one doll.” But I’ve also been in the hobby since 2007 so I’ve had a lot of time to fulfill some of those plans and I have a lot more chill now, haha.

    6. I would Love to have dolls for all my Dungeons and dragons characters, and a few for my long lasting OCs.

    7. I'm definitely in 'active acquisition' mode - 2 dolls currently on preorder, and impatiently waiting for all of the holiday events to start so I can continue with my spending spree. In the long term, though, I'd like to focus more on building little sets and dioramas, and also on improving my photography skills. I've also toyed with the idea of learning to sew, but haven't committed to buying a machine or anything like that at this time. So, short term: outrageous consumerism; long term: developing and refining creative and crafy skills

    8. Oh it's so interesting to read all your plans, I love them! <3 I only have the one doll for now, but he's part of a larger story (inspired by one of my childhood/more like early teenagerhood favourite fairy tale) that has more characters - I'd need two girls (I was thinking DLace/YUYU Doll Ex Machina 2.0 for one of them, but I'm reallllly picky with girl dolls and have been struggling with the other, and I even wondered if I might do some genderbending :D) and another guy (not sure about the sculpt yet, but Universe Doll's Blind Butterfly Boy has similar vibes). Problem is, I have a lot of dolls on my wishlist, and a lot of characters, and they don't always overlap or go in the same tempo :D So, like, I have dolls that are higher on the list than what I'd use for these characters, and little to no idea who they'd be lmao.

    9. I dream of one day having enough money to own a giant doll collection with the space to display all of them

    10. My long-term goals are to complete the dolls I have and am waiting for. Right now, I'm just saving money to do things next year. I have a MYOU 1/6 Delia, but I think she would look better on a 1/4 body so I'm researching which body I'd like to get her that would fit her neck hole and I'll save up for that. I have a Luts HDF Pudding that I'm hoping to get a new face-up for in the future, and I have a blank doll on the way that I need to plan. I also have 3 dolls I'm waiting for who will need clothes, wigs and eyes, and one will need a face-up, so I'm thinking about their characters and brainstorming the aesthetics I'd like to go for. As of right now, I'm hoping to avoid getting any new dolls, at least until most of the current ones are complete.

I also really want to try doing proper photoshoots as I complete them. I've only used my phone so far, but I have a DSLR from when I used to do nature photography so I'll be brushing up on some old, forgotten skills and trying that out.

    11. I'm doing something similar, but it's related to roleplay and not finances or release dates or too much workload or anything.

I have a few characters who are currently children. Zack & Jacob are 11, Killian is almost 10, Peach & Rose are 7, Nina is 5, Abby is 3.....I have no interest in child dolls, mostly because the scale is never right to go with my 1/3 crew. The boys are in that weird phase where MSD is too small and SD is too big. The girls are in that in between stage where YoSD is too small, MSD is too big. And even when MSD is right, it only will be for a year or so, then too small again. I also don't really play characters as children, except as side characters or NPC, but as they hit their high school years, they start getting their own RP, so then they're worth shelling. So long term, I plan to shell most, if not all of these characters. But my RP progresses in real time, no aging them up, so it's going to be a few years on them all.

    12. I am in a point that I have too many dolls of each kind and size both bjd and out of theme dolls so my main focus at this is to complete the furnishing of the room I display them and tidy everything in my collection up and yes I have a vision of how it will be clearly formed

    13. Now that I have started fully working on my doll photo story I have made plans for the next five characters that I am writing in the script, but currently do not have. I doubt that I will be able to get all of them this year. But I am going to try to get them while I can.

I need one the next season of my photo story, that I am still currently writing. But the others are for the not yet written season three.
I am going to keep my eyes focused on these next five dolls, and other dolls I want can go on a want later list.

While I can't get all the dolls right away I am doing other things I can do, like making clothing and buying backdrops, and working on props.

    14. My current goal, given to me by my spouse, is to finish the dolls I already have before I start buying new ones. My goal for 2024 is to get everyone to a state of completion and I'm steadily working my way through that checklist (have my last 2 bodies on order currently, need clothes/shoes for Marcie and faceups for Marcie/Phoebe/Aiyu plus my DDs).

I do have my next 2-3 "must have" dolls planned out, though! One is a reshell of the character from my first doll, one is a loosely-planned addition to my DD family, and one was a surprise that I fell in love with thanks to Instagram but depends wholly on if/when her artist does another order for the head again.

    15. Long term I have two I'd like to get new face-ups for and one who needs a slight mod, but the thought of them sitting headless for months... ugghhhh...I don't wanna...

Other than that, I'm good! Haven't felt the urge to buy any new dolls in quite awhile. Am very happy with my current collection. The only thing I've even bought recently was a few tiny toys for one of my off topic BJDs. I probably need to replace all the stringing in all the dolls cause some of them haven't been changed in over a decade. I have lots of unused peripherals like eyes/clothes/wigs that I should sell at some point since they're all in their perfect default look and I'm not into changing it up.

    16. I want to shell my FFXIV Mi'qote girl as a MNF Mirwen eventually. It'll just be quite a looong project!!

    17. My main long term goal right now is to make hard decisions on my current family and possible upcoming projects.
      • There's this doll that's been with me for almost a decade and I don't really enjoy her anymore nor I have a story line for her character, so it's clear to me that the best would be to sell her, but I haven't taken pictures of her yet. I have it hidden in her box for now, and it will remain there for a couple more months so I can be sure of this decision.
      • On the other hand, I have a new doll character in mind, but I won't allow myself to get a sculpt for her if I don't sell the one I am thinking of selling. This will be a project doll, cause I will need to heavily work on her to make her fit my vision (dyeing, wig making, eye making...). This project doll, even if I end up starting with her, I don't expect to be finished next year even.
      • Finally, for a few months now I've been making some MSD sized furniture for my main couple but I don't have a space for it to be placed permanently so I need to find one and even commit to making a proper diorama or ditch the idea for good.

    18. Getting my 2 minifees new faceups. Buying clothes, and getting a feeple65. Buy a new camera, and try to keep my dollls from yellowing.
