1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Lovely gestures from the doll companies

Jan 5, 2006

    1. It is a regular custom to include a gift. When dealing in a business transaction; it is seen as developing a true relationship...even in big business. It's to show respect to the individual, and of course a thank you. I whish all countries were so thoughtful...it really is a cultural thing, as shameful as it may be!

      We should all make like a card or something that we can sign even if its electronicaly...like a DOA thank you for all of their hard work and a sign that we appreciate them as individuals.

      Ew...so what if I'm korny, I just think it's so rare that strangers would think to thank you for a business transaction, and actally mean it.

      I think you may be surprised what a small sign of thanks and respect can get you ;)

    2. I used to have a MASSIVE pile of eyelashes since Customhouse would throw a bunch in (like 5-6 pairs) whenever I'd order clothes. This is why almost all my dolls wear lashes from CH, hehehe. Once they also threw in an extra pair of shoes. <3

      Luts threw in the free gift wig when I bought Sveta's body, even though I hadn't spent as much as the amount required. I was quite surprised.

    3. A group of us actually just did that last month for Luts - we put together a nice glossy photobook and sent it to them and I think they were very pleased ^^

    4. This is probably getting a little OT, but I have noticed that the people who do this generally have some experience with Asian culture - like anime. I always threw in some extra furoku or cute anime stationary when I sold manga and pencil boards, and I picked that habit up from the Japanese sellers I bought from who did the same. ^_^

    5. I did the same thing selling on eBay if the customer was prompt and friendly. If I barely heard a word from them and the only message was their payment, then I usually didn't. Eheh... *sweat*

    6. From Leekeworld I have gotten sweets. From Luts, lovely postcards. From dollmore, a flower brouch, a pair of MSD boots, a shirt, two stockings, and a bag of Spicey Shrimp snacks. From DOD, eyelashes. And from Dollstown, stickers of their dolls. I think that it is really cool that these companies do these wonderful things for their customers. ^^

    7. I've gotten stickers and a notepad from sellers on eBay. When I got Tristan from The Junky Spot I got a pile of HK subbed anime DVDs (Emory used to have an anime store before he sold Obitsus) and I've gotten extra shoes and a 1/6 scale perfume bottle from ordering 1/6 dolls. (It gives me insentive to dig through mounds of packing peanuts to make sure I don't miss anything.)

    8. My 60cm Obitsu came with a free tiny baby doll: very cute! I passed it on to someone with child-dolls to play with it.

      Big surprise for Xmas, however, when Pansy here on DoA sold me her Sharmin.

      She arrived with her original outfit & a spare wig, but also with a complete festive outfit, tiny candy cane & lollipop, toy snowman & a little wrapped present!

      I can't begin to express how exciting this all was to unwrap on my family's living-room floor on Xmas day, especially after waiting several days to open the box!

      Lucy (who also loves those yummy shrimp crackers)

    9. Wow! Did she tell you that she was going to include it or did she just keep it a surprise? I wish someone would give me free clothes or shoes ;_;

      lol it's nice to know that even the members are starting to pick up from the doll companies. I think I would throw in something extra if I was selling to a nice buyer. I mean, why not, it's the least I could do yaknow? I'll have to remember this if I ever sell anything on DoA.

    10. That's awsome that y'all are so thoughtful like that!! :-D :-D

    11. And I missed it! I hope we do a thank you book again sometime soon.

    12. My friend and I made a dollmore purchase before x-mas I don't know if she got a stocking but I know she got shrimp chips which we shared and 2 shirts she kept one and gave me the other ^^

      This isn't a doll shop but near me theres a little store that sells sanrio and other sort of cute things the shop is run by a korean family...they're soo sweet ^^~ They take interest in my doll and when I first started going to the store they gave me a little puppy pen, a blue bear calender and lolipops!^^ They're very sweet we've become friends... I go there too often XD

    13. She totally kept it as a surprise!

      I highly recommend her, if she ever puts anything else up for sale!

      Lucy

    14. I got a candle/lamp thing from Iplehouse... I think it was because I bought a fullset doll, and asked for them to not do a faceup because I wanted to do it myself ^^;;

    15. I get the shrimp chips or candy for Dollmore, but then I have gotten 2 stockings this year from them. Luts and everyone else, nothing.

    16. I think the nicest thing I have had a doll company give me was when I bought Quinn, I was having major issues getting the payment through. In the end, I had to cancel my order. When I placed it again, it was past the end of the event, by quite a bit (like a week or so-ish). Luts sent me the free gifts anyway. I was so suprised! Dollmore has sent me candies and really pretty postcards from a doll show and a stocking. Luts has also sent me nifty postcards and business cards. It is so refreshing to feel so appreciated as a customer. It really is a brilliant marketing technique that American companies should invest in. People are SO much more inclined to recommend you to friends when they feel their business is wanted.

    17. I don't know if they do any more, but DOD sent me a couple of goodies - a booklet with photos and profiles of their dolls, and a cute little silver ring that Ichiiro still wears. (I haven't lost it! *v. proud*)

    18. Oh! I forgot to mention that I bought a wig from DOA member caleynder and she sent a Full Metal Alchemist keychain with it as a gift. ^__^ It was so nice.

    19. I got a sweet postcard from Luts, too!!

      Dollmore sent me a Christmas stocking (currently under my tree with my dollies) AND a lace sleeveless shirt as a gift in a special package . . . Jessamine's wearing it right now :D

      When I ordered from NotDoll, they sent a pearl necklace for Lysandra, as well as sanding sponges, velcro, and other assorted bits and bobs (and she also came with a free AMAZING carrier), and they were also amazingly nice to deal with ^-^

      And Anu at TensiYa sent a cutwork-metal bookmark and an extra pair of eyelashes with Marten, along with a card (she's such a darling, I adore her!).

      I'm probably leaving someone out, but I've always been both touched and impressed by these little gestures <3

    20. I've gotten little cards from luts, extra postcards from CH, extra clothing and eyelashes, and I've gotten little candies from CH as well. I know my friend was given like, 6 of the extra new head pieces from Luts as a gift. Those will be useful! XD
