Luts Baby Delf - 40cm

Oct 7, 2015

    1. They have not only copied just the doll size.
(1/4 body in 1/3 heads are introduced by Rosen Lied Holiday Child's line)

Well the size eventually all companies will have this size given Holiday's child popularity.
But Baby Delf copied the mold features, the ball joints, and even the makeup style.

Sorry to say but LUTS is one priate company.
They seems to be always copying these days.
It's another type of recast seriously!

When it comes to art & design, it's not acceptable to copy other ppl's work & idea.
I would not support this type of company.

Guys, if you really like this baby delf idea, get a Holiday's Child from Rosen Lied.

If you also own dolls from other company love their sculpt,
think about how much time the sculpter put to make your doll's head
The best thing to appreciate their effort and show your support is not to buy recast / copy cats

    2. All due respect, but i just don't see the similarity. There is nothing about the rosenlied sculpts that i find remotely appealing. In contrast I really enjoy the sculpting of the luts faces and the body sculpt and engineering. I think it's rather telling that people are singling out Luts but are making no mention of Volks Dear SD which are much more aesthetically similar to the baby delfs.

    3. I think we have to hear the final result of the meeting from Luts & Rosen Lied in this matter.
Here, hoping everything will be smooth. :eusa_pray:hollyberry

      @LiNi
Thank you so much for your explanation as well. :)
I wish both of Rosen Lied & Luts all the best on the meeting, hope everything will be solved in a friendly manner.

      @Sarako
Thanks for the measurement comparison ! ;)

      @Nyoon'z
I see the similarity, but then.. we have to add Dollmore's Lusion & Trinity, cause they also bear some resemblance.
It just the Dollmore dolls are bigger/taller. :goldstar

      @kkjeanne
      Whoah.. calm down, Dear.. :sweat

Please do not accuse Luts that fast, as you might want to see other dolls that released before Holiday's Child.
Just because Dollmore Lusion & Trinity are bigger than Holiday, it doesn't mean they don't look a like.

For your information, I'm sure there's people that like this kind of doll, whether Baby Delf or DearSD, they also love Holiday's Child.
And since it's limited release, it's harder to get those dolls.

I've been trying to get Bambi & Bebe, but it's sold out really fast.
Be it the limited or the basic limited doll.

So, let's wait for the final result between Rosen Lied & Luts, shall we ? :)

    4. Not say the sculpt of every doll in the lines ar copying,
but if you put two together they will look similar definitely.
If you compare again the sculpt details, ball joints and faceup technique/style, it is not hard to see the similarity.
Ppl can continue to think they ar original.
But if you were to look at Luts lists of dolls, you might able to recognize dolls so similar to ones you own / other doll company.

To me, yes they had changed the sculpt a bit and you could say some improvement.
But that does not justify their copying of idea.
But if the result (the improved sculpt) is only what one is focused, then yeah get the doll.
But if you enjoy this doll's joints and makeup style, dont forget it was signature of another doll company

Sorry, I just read your response here.
I don't mean to start arguemnts or anything

i feel it is another type of "recast" (for me)...because I am also on waiting TO BUY my first Rosen Lied doll and so I have been studying a lot of their pictures recently so i feel really pissed because this is not the first time they also copied my darling Lati & Kinoko Juice

anyhow, I will shushhhhh for now

    5. Beyond them being the same basic size and concept, neither do I.

I'm hoping that other companies will jump onto the bandwaggon of releasing dolls in this size too, but doubtless they'd also be accused of copying Holidays Child simply because they did this size first. You might as well accuse Rosenleid of copying Custom House because they marketed (briefly) a doll of around this size some years before Holiday's Child was introduced - and I'd think that accusation just as silly.

When it comes down to it, there are only so many variations that can be made - there are many similarities between different companies models if you look at any size of BJD. It doesn't mean they are copies of each other's dolls, just that there's a limit to the variations within any given size range. If people really want to, they can find similarities between any two dolls of the same size. In most of the cases I've seen they look, to me, like nothing more than general resemblences, rather than the direct copying that they are being pointed out as.

    6. When I just saw the body of the Baby Delf, I do feel shock.
It just likes the Rosenlied Holiday’s Child.

In detail, they do have different in measurement but it can't tell it have nothing relevant to Holiday's Child.
I think Luts is looking at RosenLied Body and then make their own body.
Luts have improve the ball-joint and have slight modification on the body shape.

Here is the body comparison of different MSD size body with SD size Head doll.
Other than Luts, each company's body has their own characteristic.
When Volks DearSD and XAGA "Holiday Size" doll released, there are no such argue.
It is because Volks and XAGA are clearly creating their OWN BODY. You can clearly see their company style on the doll.

For Baby Delf, I just fell VERY DISAPPOINTED.
I know that perhaps there are no action can be taken to due with this plagiarism and Luts will keep selling the Bady Delf Doll Line.
But I still hope Luts can DESIGN their own BADY DELF body and stop selling the current body anymore.

Actually, I am happy to see more "MSD size body + SD size head" doll released.
If this line is become more popular, I can meet more friends and share the joy of playing the dolls.
When XAGA and Volks releasing their new line doll, I feel so excited!
But For Luts................... I just feel disappointed.

For those who would like to have such size doll, please visit the following site first.

    7. I do admit my first reaction was a slight confusion, because I had a feeling I have seen "this" before. But I honestly can't believe such a well known company as Luts would ever consciously JUST copy other company's design. It is the IDEA that is simmilar, but because many doll brands have recently answered to this new size demand on the market, it was a matter of time, this happened. Somehow when Luts and other companies released DD/anime style dolls, there wasn't such a fuss and rage around the community. ;)

Come one people, let companies solve the issue first. If they end up with an agreement, what is the point in throwing accusations?
Who likes Rosenlied will go there, who likes Luts, will buy at Luts'.

    8. Hoo boy, as I guessed, I am getting serious deja vu from the line of conversations going on in this thread!:sweat I suppose history is doomed to repeat itself for companies that are late adopters of a new doll aesthetic.:doh

      Agreed, @Teddy.

      Also agreed, @Asatee.

Anyway, Luts has posted their release event for the Baby Delf line! 15% off the total price, which isn't too shabby! I'm debating on whether to jump on the event quickly to try and snag a free carrier.:aheartbea Loving the faceup on NS Rose, though the price is a little staggering.:aeyepop: Anyone have any recent experience with Luts' faceups? Are they true to the company photos or more/less vibrant in real life?

    9. It reminds me of the old Alice in Labyrinth doll body, though it's a much smaller doll: Alice in Labyrinth

    10. And I think in turn most of them were inspired by Koitsukihime's art dolls (which are supposed to invoke that antique doll vibe as well) - very rounded ball joints!

I haven't ordered a Luts faceup but I think they usually turn out very well - if you ask in the Kid Delf thread you may get some recent feedback!

The 15% off is very nice, but the full price isn't too bad either for a blank doll of that size. With that Duo package, I kind of wish you could get an open eye and a closed/dreaming eye of the same sculpt, but I'm one who doesn't enjoy floating heads for different characters. A floating head for the same character somehow makes sense to me though haha!

    11. Ah it's so tempting. :atremblin
I'll be patiently waiting for owners' photos.... :eusa_pray
I'm still waiting for Luts & Rosen Lied's words after their meeting tho. :thumbup

    12. Sadly they aren't including the body alone in the event (they haven't even added a price for it to the details) and, nice as the heads are, they aren't for me and I already have a head I want to put on this body.

Given the 15% off price, it might be worth my while to jump in and buy a full doll, but I don't want to be stuck with another unwanted head - been there, done that, not had much luck selling them on.

      Teddy

    13. @Teddy

Maybe you can find a split partner for the head ? :cheer
That way, you have 1 less problem. :dance

    14. Possibly, but don't the split rules say the one organizing it has to be the one taking the head (or, at least, the more expensive part of the item)....?

      Teddy

    15. @Teddy
You can claim the body as your part of a split as that is considered a significant part.

    16. Really? Thanks!!!!

      Teddy

    17. @Teddy

Yes, agree with CathyM, since the body will be more expensive than the head, I'm sure that applies to the rule. :3nodding:

Anyone from DoA attended the Shanghai event & got this cutie pie ?
      Please share~~ :whee:

    18. I saw baby delf on dolk show Shanghai, size is bigger than holiday's child.

    19. I actually didn't realize the duo package was just a body and both head sculpts until you pointed this out! That is pretty weird.:sweat I guess I had just assumed it was a discount if you ordered two full dolls (which I've seen other companies offer before).

@Teddy, good luck with your split! I know what you mean about those unwanted floating heads. What head do you plan to hybrid with the body?

    20. I had no idea that so many companies had jumped on this bandwagon! I have only handled the Volks DearSD (which I LOVE) but I really like the vintage look of the Luts jointing. It is too bad the body isn't included in the into sale, but it's logical. Doesn't look like they will be very costly even at full price though.
