Luts Baby Delf - 40cm

Oct 7, 2015

    1. Babies aren't allowed on DOA. But these really don't have baby bodies.

    2. I think Luts will definitely release more heads, but it's hard to say when that will be. I'm definitely still waiting for even a real skin brown option on them, though light tan would be nice too!

The Xagadolls are going to be the White Obsidian line - they're actually a bit shorter, like 37.5cm. Xagadoll's site is a bit slow to load for me, but Alice's Collections also sells them. (I actually had no idea they had so many sculpts out now!)

    3. Ok, I see what you are saying. I tend to think of all these 40cm dolls as "toddlers". :3nodding:

They are adorable, I want Xaga MIcoco. I agree though, just wait to see what new Luts heads and skin tones are released!

    4. I love a lot of the Xaga face sculpt but love to see a real comparison pictures of Baby luts and Xaga side by side ...one day I will get them not sure which one yet lol

    5. I think to understand the name you have to look at it from the Eastern perspective. In the West we like to strictly call different ages baby, toddler and child. In Asia its more loose, baby can just mean young and cute. It can also mean something like 'something precious' in Chinese. In the West we use baby as an insult if its not used for its original meaning, its not so much like that in Asia, its a lot more positive.

    6. Do you know about Huajing Doll? They are making the baby dolls know.

    7. Did you guys see the new baby delfs? I really want Gabriel so much. I think she is a bigger version of Aidolls Gabriel. I think LUTS bought all the Ai dolls molds.

    8. Yea I just saw that. Luts posted a notice that Ai Doll is now combined to Luts. So Gabriel will definitely be the Baby Delf version of Gaby/Gabriel from Ai Doll.

    9. Yeah I think it's really awesome because now I can get some of the molds I wanted that I missed out on before the English site went down.

    10. Aaaaah they brought the Classic Ai back!!! I always wanted a Gabriel and now I can get her with a Luts body, that'a the best! :love

(I am crazy excited to see what they do with the Little Juniors cause that's the 35cm size Customhouse did ages ago and that's also now a popular size with dollmakers)

Customhouse/Aidolls had like 20 molds in the Petite/LJ size so if they do renew them in Classic size as well, that would mean we might see a lot of Baby Delf in the end! :dance

    11. The new baby delfs are adorable! Also good to hear the Aidolls molds are now in capable hands.

    12. I was so excited when I heard the news, and then I looked at the dolls. To me they don't look like Gabriel and Uriel at all, especially the blank sculpts. I'm very disappointed with the end result.

Edit: I know these are brand new sculpts; I just don't think they are well done.

However I am happy to hear they will be casting the Ange/Petite line.

    13. Well, Gabriel and Uriel were Petite AI and smaller than a 9-10 wig. But there are definite similarities.

    14. Yes, I know 6-7 inches is smaller than 9-10. Thanks.

    16. Gabriel (and I think maybe Sariel?) did release in Classic Ai size - SD wig sized (not sure if 8-9 or 9-10), 43cm-ish tall scaled up Petite Ai bodies. They were only ever limited so there weren't many around, but they existed way back when!

      To me, I could recognize Gabriel so that was good enough for me, but someone who owns/has the molds in hand can probably pick up on differences between old & new. I'm not sure if original Classic Gabriel differed appreciably from the Petite/Ange version either - the really small differences I have trouble picking up on in general. ^^;

    17. So you think these Luts versions are pretty comparable to them?

    18. Here's Luts' Gabriel blank: click here!
And here's a photo I found on Flickr of what's probably a Petite Ai (30cm line) version of the old Gabriel: click here or here for a full body blank!

Looking at them closely, I feel like there some differences, but for me, I think the "feel" of Gabriel got translated well enough that as a hobbyist, I'm happy to go with Luts' version over tracking down an older doll. It sort of looks like Luts might've modernized the sculpt? (I'm looking at the eyes mostly when I say that, I think they might be smaller in the face?)

And for those curious about Uriel --
Here's Luts' Uriel blank: click here!
And a really great blank photo from a Flickr user (again the Petite size): click here!

    19. I also really like LUTS' new Gabriel release. I'm bummed that she's not being released in tan (or RSB), though. I wonder if they'll do tan releases of their Baby Delf line sometime in the future. I, for one, am hoping they do!
