Luts Baby Delf - 40cm

Okay, comparing the Classic Ai Gabriel to the blank Baby Delf Gabriel, they look like the exact same sculpt to me. It does look a little different in comparison to the Petite Ai Gabriel, though. (But that tends to happen when you resculpt a head in a larger/smaller size in general. Just look at Kid Delf Ani and Senior Delf Ani or Honey Delf Lolly and Kid Delf Lolly... or basically any Fairyland sculpt.) I definitely think those heads look nice on the Baby Delf body at any rate. Acquiring Custom House/Ai Dolls seems to have been a good move. It's given them a large pool of sculpts to rerelease under Luts doll lines in the future, which I'm hoping will give their in-house sculpting team more time to make new, interesting stuff for limited edition and event dolls. A lot of their events as of late have been rereleases of old limited sculpts or elf-eared/fantasy versions of unlimited sculpts with a a new limited sculpt here and there. (Not that I'm complaining about that. I was able to get a limited sculpt that I love in a resin color it wasn't originally offered in as a result.)

 

Sarako, thanks for the comparison I think I can identify what's was bothering, it's definitely the mouth area. Original Gabriel had a detailed mouth with defined lips whereas the Luts version just has an open slit. Gabriel Ai is smiling and Luts looks unhappy. And the Luts version has a large space between the nose and mouth which really puts me off.

Luts version also doesn't look like the Classic Ai version which has wider eyes, a more rounded face, a softer chin, lower cheekbones and didn't have a long distance between the nose and mouth.

 

I think the Luts and Classic AI sculpts look very similar. I don't like the face up on the NS version. It looks like they tried to hide her smile. But I do like the WS version.

 

So cute. I'm a huge fan of that WS Gabriel and might need to order my Rose a friend eventually. Are these new girls going to be staples or are they limited release?

Ooooh! I hope they do a Raphael version, and make the heads available seperately.

I like the Gabriel but I really love the Raphael smile (I have a Petite Ai Gabriel and a Raphael).

Joining this thread as well I was a big CustomHouse lover, so the news that Luts will be selling them makes me so happy!
The plan is to buy a Baby Delf Gabriël now. I really love the Gabriël sculpt, I have the petite version (the blank little girl on Flickr is mine ) Uriël is on my wishlist as well. But the blank sculpt picture really put me off. It looks so different from the Petite version! Gabriël looks a lot closer, her nose is a little smaller, and the eyes. But other then that, I think she looks allright. I made a side by side comparison as well ^_^

I am really liking the baby delf body, I hope I will like the feel of it as well! I am thinking of hybridding one too... I love Bluefairy Lunar and Diana, but the SD Bluefairy body is not really my taste. I think once I will have Gabriël I will have to buy a head, and see if it is a good match. I'm hoping it is!

 

I took a picture of Maudie with Alphie (my biggest-headed SD size doll) and I think I have to admit defeat - The Volks Kujo head doesn't work on the Baby Delf body - to me, she looks more like a midget than a child:


I've already bought (with a lot of buying guilt - with a wedding and honeymoon in April, I'm not meant to be spending on dolls this year) a bigger body for Maudie's head and I'll have to hold out hope that Luts bring out a Raphael head for Baby Delf (and will sell me just the head!)... or the Baby Delf will have to be sold (which I don['t want to do because I like the body so much)

Given that they've not yet made the body alone available, I'm beginning to think that they won't make the heads available without the body, so even if they do produce a Raphael sculpt I win't be able to buy it without buying a full doll.

Guys how do you buy clothes for this size doll @_@? Short of ordering the dress sets off luts and rosenlied? I tried searching on etsy but I can't find anything!

 

A Volks-brand MSD-sized dress (i.e. made for chunkier 1/4 dolls) fits my BDF perfectly in the arms, torso, and skirt length. Unfortunately, with the popularity of slim minis, it's probably going to be more difficult to find bigger 1/4 clothes on Etsy. For non-stretchy pants, I doubt typical 1/4 sizes will fit them because of their chunky little legs. Stretchy 1/4 sized leggings will likely work best. For shoes, Dollfie Dream size works very well, which I think is a slim 1/3 size. So, in short, you're going to need to put together a mixture of correctly sized items into one coherent outfit. Otherwise, you're stuck to buying fullsets until this size gets more popular with seamstress collectors.:P

Congratulation, she is soo pretty, I wonder if they can wear Disney Animator clothes..does anyone know?

 

I put their Gabriel on layaway. I fell in love with her cute little face! I like their Rose but Gabriel stole my heart instantly. I have never owned a chubby baby doll before so I'm excited.

 

Thanks for the clothes info @Kimchi and @nancy_schroeder_ca! I am really interested in these dolls lately but clothes is a problem for me no matter the size!! i can see myself getting discouraged from wanting one if i cant find any clothes i like ^^''
