1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

LUTS, How can I trust you again?

Jul 31, 2007

    1. I ordered a luts body a couple months ago I dont see any cracks but some of the seams are pretty dark, I call them almost like spider veins, Im pretty sure if i sand them though she'll be fine right?

    2. I'm dreaming about MNF Shushu... But now... I read this thread... I'm shoked. I'm so sorry about broken dolls! I'm hope, then your doll will be ok, bread17!

    3. I just found out that not only bread17 has one of these problems, but another customer also has this problem too. :o

She said that she bought El on September 1 in last year.
At Jan 2 in this year, she found out that her El's hand has some chaps after she took some pictures of him.

Personally, I think LUTS should focus more on how to make a better quality of resin.
They should not keep releasing too many new dolls.
      *Sigh* :|

    4. EDIT: just saw the pic.

perhaps that was in the same batch as the other dolls that have been mentioned in this thread to have the crackled skin?

    5. I'm a little scared right now... I want Chiwoo but will I dare to order him from lust now after having read this thread ?:?

    6. i dont know why but this does not deter me fome getting my new girl. it does make me worry tho. after seeing this i think the first thing ill do when she gets here is unstring her and give her a full checkup....and probably reinforce any thin resin if it looks like that shushu's ankle >.< geeze. thats just horrible tho

    7. I agree that internal cracks can happen from extreme temperature and/or humidity. I haven't seen it happen with a BJD, but I did with a brand new plastic jewelry box I had. Just from two weeks in the Philippines I noticed the box start to crack and contort from the environmental circumstances moreso than the actual usage which was few. I cringe to imagine what would happen to my BJD in similar circumstances.:...( And isn't keeping one's BJD in its for more than a week a big no-no, depending on where you are?

    8. I was worried about this. I've been through this thread many times before I even bought my doll, but I went ahead anyway, thinking things would be different.

I've noticed them before, but I thought it was just my eyes or my imagination. But I'm looking at my doll's hands right now and I can see them (around the area of the index finger on his right hand.) My EL is only month old (he arrived August 24), so...I'm more than a little disappointed. I guess I don't mind so much since they're on his hands but there might be a time when I want to photograph them and I don't want those ugly chaps to be there. What worries me is that they can be seen on his body and I don't want that.

    9. I didn't visit this thread for a while... I have no pictures of the weak resin spot in my El's ankle. I already "thickened" it with epoxy glue, to prevent it from breaking. But I'm a little angry at Luts, because I asked them SO MANY TIMES to make a good quality check on him, and to check the ankles for similar problems as the ones that happened on Minifees. I didn't bother to contact them about it, because I'll SURE they'll say it's "normal". Argh... :x

Edit: Looking more closely at his torso, up the breast, it is "spotted" (little rough spots, not unlike redhead marks - there is no discoloration, just texture difference, but it's visible under direct light), did anymore else have this problem? :?

    10. Oh god =/
I just bought an el few days ago and I'm scared by the issues everybody had recently with Luts éè
      That's really frightening.

I feel so sorry for those who have problems with their dolls ...

    11. they sort of look like normal skin texture on the brighter side - unless they compramise the resin strength - keep us posted on how these imperfections turn out over time!!!

    12. Uhmmm...I think I know why chaps are appearing...I think it's the drastic change of temperature. Example...conduction...Your doll is stored in a warm place then you bath him/her in cold water. this is only an example...their might be other things aside from this. It's all based on drastic temperature change. Even a rock would have a crack or it'll even explode because of drastic temperature change.

    13. I think I know what you mean. I see some of those around his neck/chest area. And it is rough (in fact he came with rough patches, but I was told it was something that would wear off with play.) So far it hasn't and I was thinking that maybe I need to sand him. 0__o He has the same feeling on his arm, one of his legs and his feet. ><

    14. Ouch, those crackles remind me of how wax peels and cracks when you pull a pin through it- and wax cracking isnt exactly the kind of thing you want to associate with a $500+ RESIN doll.

On a similar note, I have been looking for the thread about faceup issues... is there a thread for it? I have always admired Luts faceups.. And had always planned to get one, when I ordered so if there are issues coming up, well you know..

As far as Bread's problems with Luts.. That really is a horribly cast product, I'm sorry.. but it is. There is no other way to validate the inner ankle looking like that, because even in rough CLAY sculpts it shouldnt look like that.. in my opinion it looks as if they didnt put enough resin into the mold and so, some spots just arent filled in. Not checking for surface damage is one thing- but with construction like that, the crack could form at ANY time, and it is not her fault because she was not the one pouring the resin into the doll mold.

That is my opinion.. Though I know Luts considers this 'fixed' hopefully if you and others stand up to them they will realize they cant pull one over on us just because we pay $60 both ways in shipping to get anything done by them.

      >.< OT a little bit, but someone said they think only ten people work at Luts. For the sheer volume of dolls they turn out each month that would be hard to believe. Luts is probably a midsize company, I think once before on here I have seen pics of Luts or another Korean companies factory/warehouse and it was quite big, mind you this was a company smaller than Luts.. So I dont think that they would have only 10 people doing the job of a small army..
Just an observation.. However if they really are only ten people, they must be very fit? Running around with big buckets of resin and blocks of silicone.. it's a funny picture :)

    15. kakurachan>> i've never experienced any problems with LUTS faceups. i've had my el for more than a year and apart from a bit of paint flaking off from the underside of his top eyelid (which was completely my fault and due to numerous eyelash reattachments), his faceup is still as it arrived to me. :3 no smudging, flaking, smearing, fading, etc.

:3 and they do excellent faceups. their detail and technique are awesome. i'm hoping they get up their custom faceup service again. X3

    16. Maybe its just the custom faceup service thing though. But I read through this thread and people were saying something happened with the faces :(

I really think Luts might be having growing pains, but that is still no excuse to give poor customer service how they sometimes do. Maybe they are becoming a bit too americanized! lol

    17. Mine was from Jan. 2006.
And this one was from Sep. 2006

I don't think they belong to the same batch.

    18. My dolls are all kept in my room without sunlight, and I keep the room temperature around 20~25 degree centigrade by air conditioner.
None of my other dolls has that crackle problem, ONLY luts.

    19. Wow, so many luts problems. That's a little disappointing, but I really do love the luts doll models alot so I guess I'll be taking my chances with my doll family (which is mostly CP DElf and Kid-Delf). Sorry for all the trouble you got, bread17 *hug* : )

    20. Oh dear, I'm sorry to hear about what happened to your doll! :o Now I'm all paranoid hoping my Lu-Wen doesn't arrive in a similar predicament.
