1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

LUTS, How can I trust you again?

Jul 31, 2007

    1. I know I'll never buy anything from Luts, after hearing your story. I hope they fix things for you. They are way too popular a company to send people such shoddy goods. If they want good will on a site like this, they should fix your problem. Nothing should break a few days after you get it, especially when it was sitting in a box, and, if it does, the company should rush in to repair the damage. They must think that people will buy anything, as long as it has their name on it.

    2. Eep. I ordered my first-ever doll from them a few weeks ago and now I'm completely paranoid he will arrive with cracks in him or spider-webbing in the reisin. I'll be sure to give him a thorough check-out from head to toe as soon as I get him. Thanks for the heads up about potential issues.

Edit: Hmmm....I went to their site and just noticed they changed the assembly time from 30-45 days to 35-45 days for the model I ordered. Somehow, that does not sound promising. :?

    3. I'm really sorry in hearing your story...and I feel like i was dodging a bullet , I was in between among a Rosenlied doll and Lut's Litchi, it is such a pain to hear a story like that reminding the fact you know these dolls costs a lot of money!
please be careful next time, check immediately the package!!

    4. I just ordered a KDF from Luts and seeing ur situation just made me nervous. I had heard that there are some problems with Luts dolls before but overall, it seems that their reputation is good. I guess the lesson to be learnt here is carefully check ur doll when receive it. And if the resin breaks sometimes later, it is really hard to get the company held responsible

    5. I feel I should state this about luts, I have held quite a few delfs and done work on a sdf body, the resin is very different in what I held. but sdf body was in no way delicate... infact... I was charged with demuscling one and the resin was so hard I had to use two dremel bits on it! (that torso could be used as a deadly weapon)

The other sdfs I have seen/held in the last year or so all were pretty firm gents as well.

    6. If that big crack wasn't there when you first took her out to look her over then Luts have every right to make you pay for the replacement.

Unfortunately though I'm sure that they would love to be able to trust thier customers companies cannot wait for that long for customers to notice damage because then anybody could break or damage thier doll and they can't afford to give parts away for free because someody has been careless but then how do you decide who can be trusted and who can't?

    7. Rumour? Not hardly, and Aeryn, you know better as you heard about this the other month. Scientific experimentation done in an actual lab by an actual scientist not connected with dolls, on spare CP hands found fillers fillers everywhere. Pretty freaking grotesque. Experiment was done in Florida. The person who commissioned the experiment is a DOA member; I'll talk to them and see if they want to give more detailed results. And no, it wasn't me. I don't buy CP. Ever.

    8. I'd be curious to know how this scientist carried out this test, because I have a hard time trying to figure out how one can separate "filler" particles from resin to in a condition good enough to identify them as such. I'd like to see some concrete and believable scientific data, along with the laboratory procedure, before I can believe such an accusation. (An explanation on the difference and possible ways to identify filler in resin from a chemical engineer/other qualified person will do. In my limited knowledge as of now, it's hard to believe.)

Regarding buying from Luts; I do believe this problem only applied to CP dolls sold by Luts - so Minifees and Delfs, which, as Luts clarified, are sculpted and cast by Cerberus Project - not Luts. So if you bought any of the Luts-made dolls (CDF, HDF, KDF, SDF, SSDF, etc.,), I think your quality (for now) is guaranteed. And Luts does mention that they need to be notified within 7 business days of any problems, and checking your doll upon arrival (if possible) is a smart thing to do anyways. I also don't believe there have been any significant issues with CP dolls as of late, but I'm not entirely sure...

    9. I have to second the awesome that are the 'specifically made/created by LUTS' dolls.

The resin is one of the densest resin I've handled. Those dolls are really solid. The colours seems to have far less variation in their tones, are even, surfaces are smooth,, and don't scuff easily. Very durable resin.

In truth, it feels even ebtter than even most of the old batches of CP resin--which are already better than the recent batches of resin.

    10. I'm rather curious about this scientific experiment as well. Was only CP resin tested, or was anything from other companies tested too? You can say they have "fillers fillers everywhere," but you don't say anything about if any or all other companies use fillers.

      It's very fascinating, though.

    11. Quote your source.

    12. The proof is in the pudding my friend, and right now there is no pudding to be found. :/

    13. Pics or it didn't happen.

    14. I'll believe it when I see undeniable proof, but I doubt you can come up with the goods. Sounds just a little bit overdramatic to me.

    15. Now I'll take this back if you can quote a source that proves that this is true, but I find it very hard to believe and can't figure out why for the life of me you would pass on such information as if it were fact. If an experiment like that was commissioned it would most likely be very expensive, and if the results proved such a rumor then I think it would be widely known by now. I can't see anyone paying for a costly experiment out of their own pocket and then sitting on something like that. It wouldn't make any sort of sense. At all. Ever.

    16. Now that sounds like a rumor. I'd love to see this report, if it exists.

    17. Fillers is a subjective word, they may have found suspention fluids and such, because to get a lighter warmer resin it would need to be a less dense material that pure undiluted resin. Resin can come in many forms, from dolls to amber, true resin is tree sap. so it is possible they might find this "filler" which is not at all a detriment but may be used to help bond the chemicals.

      *source wikipedia.

Honestly... I find the idea of sawdust to be unlikely.. because sawdust would leave more than the occational visible fleck. i'm not talking one or two.. but rather multitudes.

    18. Until you are able to provide actual proof of these results, I think it is highly irresponsible to speak of these like facts as well as expect everyone else to believe everything they hear over the internet. It would be even better if you could also provide the actual name of the fillers, the method of extraction for testing, the procedures and the name of this lab where the testing was done.

This 'you should believe it because you heard it from a friend who heard it from a friend' doesn't sound like a great way to differentiate fact from rumour.

    19. Until you can provide documentation to back up that claim... I'm calling bull on this one, Ophelia. :|

    20. Yeah, I'd want to know what experiments were done and what "fillers" they found -- what even counts as a filler in resin? I'm extremely dubious, as someone who works in researchy stuff, of any claims that mention "studies" they don't actually cite. It's all very well and good to say "There was a study! In a lab! By a scientist!" but that doesn't mean anything unless you can actually show us the goods.

It's actually pretty nasty to go saying things about CP dolls being full of filler when you're not prepared to offer some proof, IMO. You're potentially starting a nasty rumor without offering any basis for it besides your word.
