1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

LUTS, How can I trust you again?

Jul 31, 2007

    1. I would think if they were using lots of nasty fillers, then there would be far more problems than there actually are. This thread is quite old--there was a period where there were some problems with CP dolls (in particular cracks in the neck on the tans), but it's been awhile since I heard of any major problems concerning Luts dolls (produced by CP) or Fairyland (since they are CP). When you consider how popular CP dolls are, and how many people buy them, they've had far more success than failure when it comes to resin issues.

I also think that more than one type of resin would need to be tested and compared to have some idea of what is normal for bjds. This might not be an issue (I don't know), but the person doing the testing would need to be familiar enough with the subject (bjd resin) to be able to properly interperate the results. I'm not trying to blindly defend the company here, but accusations of this nature are very very serious and not to be made lightly, and it's better for all of us here on DoA to have some kind of proof (besides someone's word) that there was actually some kind of wrongdoing on the part of the company.

    2. QFE

While I realize that sawdust is a common filler used in resin for industrial purposes I don't believe your claim at all and I'd like to see proof of this 'study'.

    3. having sanded my lishe today i have to say, goddamn, thats the finest, most invisible sawdust ive ever seen o_- and also sanding volks today, it seems they must use sawdust too because it was exactly the same

    4. I searched through the forums for about 15 minutes for every word combination I could think of to find the details about this 'research'.

      Guess what I found!
      Not a thing.

If she is telling to truth, I wish she would have given us more details about the 'actual lab' and 'actual scientist'.

I had heard about this rumour from someone, but I'm not really sure how reliable the source was.

If this was a real experiment, I wonder if they tested Bobobie, AoD and everything else, too.

    5. wow, this sort of makes me glad i went with DoD instead of luts for my first doll....

    6. I would like to see proof of this as well. I don't mean some cut and pasted email or anything. I want the name of the lab the study was conducted in, as well as (if possible) the scientist who performed the test, what types of tests were actually done (real details here, no glossy layman stuff), types of fillers found (including dyes, color stabilizers/uv blockers) and at what concentrations, what effect the fillers would have on the finished item, and how those levels compare to other resin dolls exported from various countries (which would also have to have been tested in order to gauge just what level of filler is acceptable/standard and what is not).

Also how many times was the test done? Under what conditions? Did the results vary and if so by how much?
Do filler levels vary between dolls of different skintones done by the same company? Do fillers used change? (lets not forget dye here, which is added to the resin, and any sort of stabilizer a company might be using to prevent that yellowing people dislike so much)

Without SOLID scientific proof, I call bs on this.

Edited to add: For a study to be valid, the testing would've had to have been done by a 2nd, unrelated lab using the same specimens under the same parameters, and they would've had to have reached the same conclusion

    7. They would've had to in order to determine what levels of filler were to be expected in the product (in this case a doll) and what levels were excessive.

    8. Ehhh... note that she hasn't gotten back to us with the details.

I'm not calling her a liar, I'm just saying how convenient it is that she has yet to reply after 15+ people got kind of anal. ;)

    9. intertesting, guess we will just have to see...strange rumors do fly don't they -.-

    10. Ahaha! I have to say this made me laugh so hard :D

Rumors aside, have other people had problems with CP's resin lately? Maybe they were just bad batches, or restringing issues. I really don't think this happens all the time, especially since I own quite a bit of their dolls and never had a problem with the resin.

And if it were a common problem, the company would be in serious trouble now, which isn't happening.

    11. I haven't read the whole thread, I've read like half of the first page, but I was looking at the inside of the calf pictures O.o and I must say it looks really...bad. I have no idea about doll making but it looks like what happens when you're sculpting like a vase or something and you're not paying attention and you fingers put more pressure then you meant and oops one side of the vase is totally gone. O.o Sure that can happen but...you'd know. Theres no way you couldn't know. So if that happened in the sculpting or molding process why didn't they remedy it or start over? But like I have no idea about doll making. I just think you'd know somewhere along the line. They should have fixed it before selling it O.o

    12. I had my own problem with Luts within the past year. I bought 2 heads for the type 2 body and with 1 month of owning each head the locking knob's on the head caps broke. I ended up selling me luts body and have know started a DOD collection. I not totally sure if i will ever buy another doll from them

i think the issue(what ever it is) has started within the past 2 years because i still have an ani boy who is 4 and i have had no issues at all with him.

    13. Thank you for all the replies.

The problem was solved long time ago --- of course I paid for the calf parts.
And I haven't bought any doll from them for a long time.
I don't know whether they stay the same or they have improved their products.

For the sawdust thing, I'm sorry, I haven't seen anything like sawdust inside luts' resin parts. I think they was just having some problems with their resin quality.

But I've seen some luts' head parts within these days and I must say that the thickness is getting thinner and the weight is very light, expecially when comparing with Volks dolls'.

I know luts has reduced the price for their products, but I think not only the price is reduced, but also the dosage of resin.
