1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

LUTS, How can I trust you again?

Jul 31, 2007

    1. You raise an excellent point! Mmm, second-hand creatures already with a "soul"!

Oh, I can't wait until I get market priveledges! ..Priveliges. Er. It's late, excuse me.

      Excellent. Thank you.

    2. I don't think we have any real idea how many dolls there are out there with the "chapping" issue... but it's not very common.

When the original thread about it was posted over here on DoA a *lot* of people went and checked their CP dolls, and very few found any sign of crackled surfaces. As I said upthread, the ones who did find it typically had dolls ordered during one particular period of time (February-March 2006). That leads to the supposition that a bad resin batch was to blame.

The current issues with badly-done face-ups and miscastings are probably rushed production issues... They're queue is backed up, they're in a hurry, and so they're having quality-control problems... 'Less time is being spent preping and checking each doll before shipment, would be my guess. That means more problems slip through.

    3. Lol i know what you mean,
you will be wanting to buy everything you see when you are able to visit it.

      ~if i'm right you're only 10 posts removed.

I like second hand more for some doll brands.
Because you can ask for...can it pose this.. does he/she have that XB
(luts has become one of them... D: )

    4. Thank you very much for your information.

The backlog certainly makes sense. I mean, I spend less time on each commission *I* have if I have a lot of them! Bad me. :sweat
Fortunately, perhaps, I'm not intending on acquiring one with a face-up as I wish to do it myself. I will be waiting, however. I gather, from this information, that they are more busy in holiday-times? Summer and Christmas especially, as one would expect, perhaps?

    5. Heh, yes indeed! I shall have to conduct myself well... I have but £300 in my bank account and although that's enough to purchase me a beautiful little resin-friend, my boyfriend would be displeased in having to use his money to feed me for the rest of the year until, er... September, when my student loan gets through!

I do like the idea of being able to ask such questions of someone. Certainly, it seems from this thread, that it is preferable in the case of LUTS and their random resin!

    6. My girl is from feb 2007..
so it seems that it's simply a bad period to order -scraps Feb from her list-

I think you're right with bad resin/cracks being rare.
But i have seen it more on luts dolls then on most other company dolls.
Or maybe other company doll owners just don't post about it.

I just hope that my collecting pictures and things of the damage on some dolls after short time of owning.. they can ring a bell and luts may look into they're resin quality...

    7. Now I'm really nervous about getting my El, especially when I want the special. I don't want face-ups, I just want them and wigs.
I've read the whole thread, but I wasn't clear on a few things; it's better to order them during the dryer weather? It's really hot and muggy here right now so it would be like a double whammy. I heard about the changes in the WS resin and the weather, but I'm looking to get mine in NS. Also, these chaps can be sanded, right? That I don't really mind, I like working on those sorts of things and he's going to be getting the full asthetic treatment when he gets here. But if it's going to harm my boy then I'm not going to gamble.
Maybe I should wait a while, maybe around september? (Darn it, I'm so hyped about getting him, I only have one more week to wait). When I do get him though I'll be sure to give him a good look over and report my findings.

    8. I don't know if the weather/ location of where the resin was made or where she lives is an excuse for poor resin/ casting quality. I've purchased a few heads from private people's casts/ small companies' casts which were made in Korea as well [as far as I know, at least] and they are of PERFECT quality. I'm talking incredible quality here, especially considering it's resin. Makes me think that it's mainly poor quality control etc. on Luts' side that causes this.

    9. Ohhhhhhh... Now I am so frightened! :shudder I just bought a Delf El special from Luts... I hope the quality will be good, or at that price, I'll make A BIG FUSS! :x

    10. fereshteh>> don't worry. the crackled-skin thing was likely a one-time mistake, since i don't think it's happened again. the sculpting to the big boys seems okay, unless it's a type 2 body--in which case the neck might be a little suspect.

      but overall, i don't think you'll have to worry about anything, save a bit of delay in shipping time. ^^;;

    11. That's a bit worrying.

I might be the only one but when my first dollie turns up (CP Shine - soon) even if he is broken slightly I dont think I'd be able to change him. He was made for me, and although there are loads more of them, none would be the exact same as the one made for ME. I'd probably ask for some money back though!!

    12. pyrope>> LUTS doesn't really give money back. unless it's like a double payment or something like that.

if they do refund you, it will likely be via store credit.

    13. Umm, sorry to tell you this but it's highly unlikely that any BJD company will give you a partial refund or discount. The standard policy is to return the broken part and get a new one in exchange.

Depending on the company, they may reimburse you for your return shipping to them, most will... but I've heard of occasions where customers were expected to pay the extra shipping costs.

    14. @Naiara- I didn't notice an eyelid size difference, but I did notice the thin eyelids too! I was holding Butterfly up to my lamp and was like, "wow I can see into your head!"

Also, the ears are differently shaped. One goes straight, while the other curves at the tip. Very strange. XP

    15. After reading that I will never buy a Luts doll. If they can't give you good service and you pay all that money for the doll there is a problem there.

    16. Maybe the crackled-skin was only a small mistake.
But the key point is, when luts are facing those "small" mistakes made by themselves, they NEVER admit it and NEVER give the repairing services which we custmers deserve. Instead, they always try to defence themselves.
People all make mistakes, the difference is whether you admit it or keep saying there's no wrong with what you've done.

    17. Well that really sucks DX
luts does dissapoint a lot of people here and then. im worried about my BW El that i ordered back in july. after waiting so long he better be more beautiful than i expect XD if hes broken or damaged in any way, i will complain to them >8D
im very sorry about all of the problems you had with luts. the only problem ive had with them so far was last year when i ordered my mini fee chiwoo. i waited 2 months and he didnt show up, and when i asked what was taking so long, they told me they lost my order! i panicked because i had saved up and it was my first BJD.
im tempeted to fly to korea sometimes and take over the buisness myself XDDD

    18. Scary. @_@ I'm ordering a Hodoo in less than two weeks, and lately I've been hearing all kinds of things about Luts' quality and customer service, or lack thereof. I'm not the kind of person to go over a doll with a magnifying glass (no disrespect to those who do!:sweat), but I'll have to check him over well when he arrives. Thanks for the heads up. I had some problems when I placed the order for my Soom Gena (PayPal related, I think..,the payment didn't go through, had to reorder her) but I was pretty confident about ordering from Luts, which is like the second biggest doll company. It's disappointing to hear that they've let their quality slip so much. This, combined with the PayPal thing, could really start to affect their sales. I hope they get their act together soon.

    19. We'll see how my Vidik looks when he arrives. Hope he'll be okay. He's my first. :)

    20. this thread is kinda worrying.. since i'm waiting on a luts kid delf now.. he should be here anytime soon? i hope he wont have any problems. since he's my first doll and all.. :(
