1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

LUTS, How can I trust you again?

Jul 31, 2007

    1. I got Luts MiniFee Shiwoo Elf about a month ago, and he seems to be fine. I even checked the insides of the ankles, and they look nice and smooth. So all Luts dolls don't have problems.

    2. Bread17: I just thought I'd say "thank you" for starting this thread and telling us about the problems with your dolls. :) It's a very tough thing to do, because I know that sometimes people can be overly critical and get very defensive. It does not MATTER that you found the problem after 2 months. What matters is that the INSIDE of the ankle was poorly made! (It's possible that the crack developed and got worse, I suppose).

I completely agree with you: the ankle piece is NOT good quality. I'm very sad that LUTS replaced that ankle piece with another one, also bad quality!

I also think that it's very sad that, although BJDs are so expensive, we have little to no guarantee of quality from ANY company. 2 weeks (from the most generous companies) is NOT long enough to determine whether the resin will yellow or chip or become blotchy. I've never had problems with my dolls, but I'd be SO disappointed if a doll I bought started to fall apart in spite of my careful treatment of them!

I'm so sorry to hear that LUTS's quality appears to be getting inconsistent. The fact that they sent you another bad ankle shows me that they think the quality is acceptable. I don't agree, so I can spend my money with other companies who deliver consistently good products. Since we DON'T have much of a guarantee from any BJD company, I'd rather buy a doll that starts out looking its best than buy a doll that may or may not have flaws to begin with. :(

    3. Arg. I'm going to be getting a MNF Shushu in a while. I'm absolutely in love with her, but I'm obviously going to have to check her innards as soon as she gets here. I'll post my results here when I get her.

If there's anything wrong with her, I'm going to let them know about it. They need to know that their customers notice these flaws, and aren't happy about it.

I think what happened in the case of the MNF girl ankle part, is that the part that goes in the middle of the mold to make the calf hallow is gunked up, and causing the weak spot. Would it kill them to clean it off and possibly save themselves a lot of grief?

I suppose what you could do to strengthen the calf is to 'shore up' the weak spot with some epoxy clay. Although really, Luts should do something about this problem themselves.

    4. Wow. That's sad to hear. I've had a total of 5 luts and my friend has 4. Now, some were adopted from others, but still, it's sad to see a company that I thought was really great to have such problmes. I hope they fix thier problems.

    5. It should be a second nature common practice of all doll owners to check their dolls asap when they arrive. Luts is not infamous for too many problems. I mean from what I've heard from people around maybe 1 in every few hundred people have problems (this is taking into consideration people in other countries, english speaking and non, and I even had a Korean girl once tell me she would recommend Luts over any other company for all their products)

I think looking at this the problem that you suggested about the peice they cast around was messed up or something, becuase NONE of my MNF especially my fiance's mnf shushu elf have THAT kind of look to them at the bottom. I do see that being luts' fault, but with them not hearing about it for so long they can only assume the person may have done it themselves and is just trying to get a peice replaced for free. Not that I'm saying that is what happened, but it needs to be seen that way; From the business' standpoint.

    6. I received an El type 2 body with a similar weak spot at the ankle. Would epoxy glue work, or only epoxy clay? Please PM me if you know... *_*

    7. poor bread17, sorry to hear the problems luts giving u. For such an expensive doll, one would hope that the customer service would be better.

My Sd 10 volks pureskin also has a problem of joint breaking. :(

As for the luts skin....they look like they really need a very good moisturizing lotion...

    8. fereshteh>> i've never heard of this in the SDs. D: do you have pictures??

    9. Oh no.. it's enough to break one's dreams. I'm sorry to hear about this and thank you for sharing with us = (

    10. I actually don't think it's unreasonable that you DIDN'T check the doll straight away - why would you? I think it was fair for you to assume it was going to be fine. I probably wouldn't have checked either :(

    11. doughnut-hole>> are the type 2 el pics in there? i'm not sure where it is amongst the 11 pages. D:

    12. There are pictures on second page. They are Volks SD10 pureskins
Most people there who has that problem breaks at the same spot on their Volks Pureskin SD10

    13. doughnut-hole>> oh, lol, i meant in my post that i was interested in seeing the weak spot on the el. ^^;;

      much miscommunication at work.

would still like to see it. :3 that way i could compare it to my boys and see if they have any similar spots.

    14. I really think luts should take your complaint serious, and I think it would be good if every one with a luts doll with damage mail to them.
I think they are becoming to much a company that only want to produce much and that will cost quality.
They better do it good and tell people that they will have to wait a little longer for there dolls, but I am sure if they don't rush they are able of making better dolls.

    15. This is really upsetting to hear... I really love luts and I understand they're super busy with how many orders they get, but their customer service should really be more careful if they want to keep customers happy :/

I did a split order about 2 weeks ago and my boy just came in yesterday and he was utterly perfect from head to toe so I guess it's really just luck of the draw on how the batch of resin they're using is.

    16. *Clears throat* This is a rather scary prospect. While I think this does teach us that we should all check our dolls over thoroughly EVERYWHERE the moment we get them, I think that- for me, at least- there is an even more important lesson to be had.

DO NOT CHECK YOUR DOLL'S CALF INSIDES WHEN STRUNG UNLESS YOU HAVE A CROCHET HOOK IN THE ELASTIC.

I just went to check my girl, especially after I noticed the grooves in the back of her ankle- I didn't know those were there, although I know they're done purposefully XD- and during the check I must have turned it wrong, or stretched too far, because her foot just popped RIGHT off and the elastic shot up into her leg somewhere around her knee.

      Now.

I only got Vana- my first doll AND an Elf Shushu- back in April. Hence my worry that I had missed some monumental fracture in her resin. She has not been restrung. I don't even know how yet. The most I've done is change her hands, and even that was with help from a doll-owning friend last month.

And my crochet hook is conspicuously absent.

Add to that that my doll friends are all asleep still since it's so early- I am left with Vana lying here on my bed in the same pose she was in when her foot came off, me trying not to remove any more body parts for fear she'll flop like a BJD with broken elastic.

Strangely for a newish owner- but, I guess, not for my personality?- I'm not panicing about the leg. All her parts look to be in fine shape (not cracked or broken at all), but I am a little irked that I can't find my darn crochet hook when I know it's always over with my yarn...

XD Little Vana is going to get restrung, I suppose, if I can't find my crocheting needle OR her tiny metal ankle hook. I think it's somewhere up in her thigh area. :sweat

My mom just woke up and is going to buy me a new crochet hook when she goes out so I can rectify this.

This teaches us never to fiddle with dolls unless we know all possibilities are accounted for! XDDD

    17. Because resin casting is more of an art than a science. Flaws happen, and by not checking thoroughly and leaving a doll in a box for two months you, like bread, would be getting what you asked for.

Luts should have never sent the leg looking like that, don't get me wrong. But for all Luts knows after two months you busted her restringing.

    18. Oh, wow... That's horrible! If I had to pay the prices they're asking for dolls of this quality, I'd totally sue them. :o

I'm so glad I didn't place my order with them yet... I don't think I'll be buying any of their products for a while now... :(

Is it just the dolls in bad quality, or are their other products (like clothes, accessories, eyes, wigs, etc) this bad as well?

    19. I know that you feel bad, but you have to understand that there is no such thing as perfection. Even the most expensive car can be a lemon.

I understand where you're coming from, but I can understand Luts position too. There are a lot of scam artist in this hobby and they have to protect themselves.
