Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Making Boy Dolls....Boys! [~Small Edit~]

Jul 10, 2008

    1. Amazingly enough, everyone knows Zetto's a boy. Exempli gratia:

Rocker boy gets the chixxorz...Yumiko has to live with the fact that the boy she loves is a chick magnet. However...

...when it all comes down to the end of the night, Zetto's going to be going home with his soulmate Yumiko. Awwww....

    2. I think I'm just going to put a sign around Aiden's neck saying 'Yes, I'm a guy'.

    3. of my six dolls (and a head which we aren't counting) three are male. 2 are SD sized and one is MSD sized. And they are never confused as anything but male. By anyone.

Andrea stays dressed up in his Steampunk finery and people know--pretty as he is--that he's a...well...HE.

His fairy relative Bbjorn is far more soft appearing, but in a sweater, brown corduroys and his Converse--(even with a less than short wig)--folks never think he's a girl. (Which frankly disappoints him at times. He's so androgynous in his own mind)

And Ren, my Angel Region MSD boy... Shite, no one is manlier than he...for some reason. Cute as he is, he's ALL boy and I have never had a lay person say anything other than "Isn't he cool!" In fact, when he sits with other dolls, people tend to set their MSD girls right up next to him to "flirt". He's such a badboy Romeo. And it doesn't matter if I have him tricked out in his Steampunk chimneysweep outfit, or his goth punk black leather, or if he's dressed in jeans and a shirt... he's 110% boy. Even when I have his "sissy boy" wig on him for Victorian shoots. Couldn't say why, either.

My dudes have never been seen as anything but male dolls.

    4. Well i actually know a couple of people who are amazing at identifying the sex of my Tender elf sha(because he truely looks like a girl) XD Im really happy they got this gender right and more impressesd because they where male's themselvesXD They told me because of the lack of boobs is what gave him awayXD

but out of all my dolls my Ducan and Tender Lahoo never get mistaken for girls.

    5. I hate to say it, but I'm afraid that I'd never get my boys to be recognized as such. People on DA are usually pretty good about guessing Dai's gender (or it could be that they read the artist's comments, which I refer to him as... him). ^^;

    6. I've actually never had an issue with people indentifying Alfie, my migidoll ryu, as a boy. Ryu has a very feminine jawline, and I've painted mine to look very sweet, but non-BJD people don't mistake him for a girl. I think it's his hair and eyebrows. His eyebrows are thick, and he's got pseudo-sideburns because of his wig. I also dress him very boyishly, but I think it really is just his hair. That stuff matters!

My Supia Rosy has been mistaken for a boy, though. She actually has stronger facial features than my Ryu, and I also gave her more severe eyebrows. Still, she was in a long wig, and her breasts weren't hidden or anything. We are definitely conditioned to think "male unless proven female" in this hobby. : D

    7. my nan is still adiment that my iplehouse ryushin is a girl, dispite the fact shes seen his thing-a-ling lol

luckily my boy is quite grungy so apart from my nan i dont get the gender confusion thing that much, altho sometimes i do but it does make me giggle but he wasnt to happy when my colage class heard that he was atomicaly correct lol

    8. Everyone knows my DZ Aaron is a boy cos I always say 'my boy..' this or that lol. But he is recognized as being fem-looking. He just looks like a young boy to me! I found the best way to get him recognized as a boy right off the bat is to put him next to a girl. For whatever reason when next to an actual girl, he looks more boyish haha

    9. I currently have three dolls - all male. Two of them have always been recognized as boys. In the other hand one of them has been mistaken for a girl more than once. The firs comment I got from my parents when I presented him was 'Wow cool... But was it a boy or a girl again?' I've been able to make him look slightly more boyish by changing the face up, but he still has too bright lips and his hair style is sort of 'neutral' (could be either boy's or girl's). Any other reasons for him being mistaken as a girl I can not think of. I think he looks boyish... Well at least more boy than a girl :sweat

    10. I have the same issues with my boys. Even with a suit on, people will go: "Oh, she's so pretty!"

    11. Actually, no. :) Lupin is a wonderfully Male sculpt and it is for that reason I own one myself. (See avatar pic!:aheartbea ) I love how masculine his features are. He's one of a couple of sculpts out there that you'd think nobody could mistake for anything but man... Then again, someone did mention their sister's Ark got called a girl, so apparently there's no accounting for the ... um... naivete of the General Public. To some people, Doll = Girl.

    12. I have a feeling that my girlie's going to be mistaken for a boy a lot. I've buying her a neutral-to-girly haircut, but she's into kodona/steampunk style. Hell, her name is Quincee for chrissake. Not that I mind, I mean. She's meant to be rather andro in this case.

    13. first day i got my doll x.o
everyone came running "SHE'S SOOO BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! CAN I TOUCH HER?! OMG!!"
i just laughed and said "yes she's a very pretty girl!"
Only two people, who were my bestest friends got the gender right for him XD
..gotta admit the mold is very bubbly and feminine though o:

    14. 2 out of 6 my male dolls have never been called she/her - Ryoma (DZ bb Jing) and Kaname (DZ Leo).

I think it has a lot to do with the rather thick eyebrows and the messy haircuts they have XD

    15. I have a pin kicking around somewhere that states: "I AM A BOY!"

    16. I have more or less given up on most of mine after this doll convention where people kept refering to my friends Bix as a girl. In my view the most manly man mold I have ever been close to. No one called my Sard a girl though, despite the fact that he was on display and many commented on him. Sure he was called a lot of things, like Satan himself and such, but I suppose you can't win them all ^^;

    17. Hummmmm, maybe it's because most of my boys have pretty masculine sculpts but I've never had anyone mistake my boys for girls. They wear rather masculine clothing too though some have very long hair. Somehow they really never look feminine so there hasn't been a problem.

    18. Well...when I got Feilong, my mum was just walking around him, lifting his kimono (or-what-the-hell-it-is) pointing to his...ehm...correctness...and telling everyone: "Look, he's a boy though he looks like a girl...I know...he's a tranny??" :sweat

Poor Feilong...and he don't even look so feminine...I'm really curious what will my parents and friends do when they'll see Dimitrij...or Edo...or Christian...

I think it's just natural for non BjD people to assume girl first, especially for the old ones 'cause when they were small, there wasn't anything like "boy doll"

Even when you just hear a word "doll" you imagine girl rather than boy...well...I do. :)

    19. Oman. I have Prophet in his normal face up (no makeup, piercings...), a short blonde wig, and a white button up w/tie, black pants combo, and people still think he's a girl! The sad thing is that he's on a very masculine body even! @_@

    20. This brings up a very important rule of thumb: When in doubt, assume male. ;)
I once saw a doll in a skirt that had a button proclaiming himself male, I had to laugh a bit.
