1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Marina Bychkova's Resin Enchanted Dolls Discussion Part 1

Dec 19, 2012

    1. Great outfit Eiko. I see she has sensible shoes for dancing to keep her feet comfortable.

    2. The black feathered boa looks very festive. Perfect for New Year's Eve party...

So she can dance all night!

    4. Oh wow, Marina finished the Courtsesan! She is so beautiful-

Eiko, your doll looks fabulous in that outfit!

    5. I love her clothes too. All the stuff that goes with her are gorgeous.

    6. Her stuff is amazing- looking at her pretty collars and bodices makes me want to take classes in lost wax casting...

    7. Beautiful dolls...I would be scared to death having that much money in one doll...yikes!

    8. If you can afford to buy that doll, you would get insurance and also anyone who has that much money for a doll can probably replace it. This doll has gone out of the area where we feel guilty paying a lot for a doll. This is a whole different ball game now. Not many people can spend this kind of money. I live in Canada , so just add about 20% to that. It seems to be in U.S. $ even though Marina is in Vancouver.

    9. Wow- she sold for $76,500. I guess this sale price is probably not going to be a terrific motivation for the lowly resin line, huh? Ah well, I had mostly written off my name on that list anyway.

    10. I was thinking exactly the same thing, Galacticat. :o) The only reason I can think of (just trying to find a bright side) is that even the nude resins will probably go for much more now and are so much less work for Marina. Not nearly as labor intensive.

    11. If Marina does do some more resins I do wonder what the price will be. I think mine were 2,150 Canadian if I remember correctly without looking it up. I had to pay twice that plus shipping plus 5% GST since I live in Canada so it seemed like a lot but now it was a bargain. The problem was I had only 7 days to come up with the money and give her my answer on which two dolls I wanted. I am sure she might have waited a little longer though. That whole order came at such a surprise for me. I thought the resin order would never happen just like we think they will never happen again so there could be hope for you guys.

    12. I wonder also- I think when I got on the list in 2013 the price hadn't changed much. I seem to recall it was like $1500 for a nude/unpainted doll, maybe $2500 (or was it $3000?) for a doll with face-up, body blushing, and maybe a wig. It used to be on her site but those links are gone now ever since she closed the waiting list.

When I saw the list close and the order info disappear, I contacted Chad last year to find out whether Marina would be finishing any more from the list.
He was very nice, and said:
"Thank you for your email. It is true that we have stopped accepting names on the resin list, but I see your name on there from June 20th, 2013. We can't estimate when your spot will be reached, as Marina works on resin dolls in between other projects, so there isn't a predictable timeline. We will contact you when your spot is coming up to sort out the details of the order."

I got from that email that he didn't actually know, but that I shouldn't write off hope completely, as she might decide to do a few more at some point. So my hope for one of these dolls is like 20% maybe- I haven't given up entirely and would love to be surprised, but am no longer planning to save up money for one. If by some miracle my name comes up on the list, I will scramble around then and try to figure out how to buy one without alerting my wife to such an insane purchase. Until then, I will keep throwing my money at other dolls that I have fallen for since that time.

For example, those new Serenade dolls! Aren't they just so lovely? Their bodies are so artistic looking- they remind me of ED or Angel Egg

    13. I have not heard of any new resins being made. Maybe she is but no one here is getting one. Would be interesting to know. So what are Serenade dolls. I have never heard of them.

    14. I have a feeling that none are being made, otherwise we'd see one on flickr or on DOA or even on the Enchanted Doll forum, right? But maybe not. I'd love to see some confirmation that she has worked on any of the resins in the last year or two...

The Serenade dolls are from a brand new company- I really like their aesthetic! If you are a fan of Popovy/Chateau/ED- you probably will too :D

    15. Thanks Galacticat. I looked at them and they don't interest me. They are 1/3 size and I have enough of them and the MSD and YOSD. They are all kind of ignored these days in my house. I love my Popovy and ED resins, plus I have started being interested again in my antiques I kind of ignored for a couple of years. I am going small now and that is why I love the ED and Popovy plus I really like my Angel Egg I am painting at the moment. When you have been collecting dolls for as long as I have you kind of have to get smaller. I have a hard time getting rid of dolls I have acquired which is another problem. Once they come into my house I get attached although I really should start selling some of the big neglected dolls standing and sitting in my doll cabinets.

    16. These are Grail dolls :aheartbea

    17. Her dolls are amazingly beautiful. I got a copy of her book. The pictures are all so nice. I didn't know that she accepted orders before. I read somewhere that she only auctions a doll from time to time.

    18. And what a great pain is to be one of those persons who discovered the whole thing way too late, and will never, ever, ever, get one..... aiiiiii. LIke myself XDD

    19. Well, it probably depends on the culture? Personally I'm not sure that your situation would be worse than waiting for a doll for two years and believing at first that you will definitely get the doll, then thinking you probably won't, then getting some kind of hope again...

I suppose in some culturespeople just want to KNOW where they are in line and if the line will end- whereas other cultures (maybe Russian?) others are content to stay in a line that may be years long with no promise of actually getting anything when you get to the end.
