1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Marina Bychkova's Resin Enchanted Dolls Discussion Part 1

Dec 19, 2012

    1. Congrats !!! and please show your new girl

    2. Oh wow- so it looks like she is just going to be selling the 100 left of nude dolls and that is it? I guess she really is burned out on these dolls (was just reading her blog). I have been on the list for so long, but didn't get an email. I guess I didn't make the cut. So sad...

    3. Galacticat, don't give up hope yet, Chad wrote in the Enchanted Forum that they are sending out small batches of emails and need to give people time to respond before they move on to the next batch of people in the list.
See his post here: The Resin Waiting Room
He also writes that they will announce once the dolls are gone.
I cross my fingers for all of you waiting that you will get a chance at a RED!

    4. I have sent her off for a face up so will post her when she gets back

    5. I love the idea of there still being hope- but I have been on the list a little less than 2 years, and I read that there are people on the list that have been waiting for 5 years- so.... I think my chances are probably a little remote.

Plus, I am actually less excited by the idea of a blank doll, as I really wanted Marina's look, which is so unique and expressive. So if I don't get one of the few remaining 100 blanks, my heart won't break, and I will be less poor for having spent a fortune on a resin doll :) Maybe I will get a Popovy instead- those are also such incredible works of art.

I was sad to read on her blog that Marina felt so pressured to make the dolls that "It got to the point where I could no longer paint another doll eyelash or sew another bead on yet another doll dress without feeling sad and resentful and pressured by expectations" She evidently took a break, and is back to finishing dolls, but I have a feeling that doll making may have lost some of its magic for her for a while. Maybe now that there is no list, she won't feel so pressured and the inspiration and love she had for doll making will return.

      I hope so!

    6. You know, it occurs to me that of the 100 people who will be able to buy the blank dolls, there will surly be some who are not really interested in keeping an ED anymore, and who plan to sell the doll.

So even if the list doesn't get up to 2013 (they are going through the 2011 list now)- maybe there is still hope for some of us.

    7. How do we know they are up to the 2011 list?

    8. Someone on the ED forum mentioned that they signed up in 2012 and got an email from Marina about buying a blank.

    9. Oh good- we're up to 2012! I read 2011 in the other forum, and I think Chad mentioned there they were starting with people who had been on the list for 5 years...

Is it possible only 99 people between 2011 and 2013 will want a doll before me? MAYBE!!!

    10. I was on the 2012 list, in the latter part of the year, I think. And I just got an e-mail (really surprised, honestly). Bridget, where did you send your doll for face-up? I hope you don't mind me asking.

    11. Wow if they get to 2013... I will be very excited !!! (And start selling things right and left, lol)

Reasons people might drop off the list:
      * the dolls do cost a lot, even blank. It is easier to save up for a doll that
      * People DO change their minds after a few years often times- maybe they have moved on to other dolls
      * for some it may be less exciting to collect ED when it appears the collector community will soon move on. (No new resins means no new dolls to discuss)

      (or so I hope)

    12. I sent her to Tanya style in Bangkok, who does really beautiful face ups

    13. I think the new cost might put some people off. They are now 2900 blank no wig just eyes. thats usd. so really expensive for a blank doll. I didn't think about it, because I have been waiting so long for both porcelain and resin, but I think the rarity is being capitalised on. I will make my own wig and do my own body blushing and make my own shoes. But its still a sinful amount of money! Marina is now doing oak resin dolls dressed so I think the after market price will only go up if there are only 100 left.

    14. Yeah, I think it's a lot of money but really, this seems like a sound investment! (Not that I got an email, I'm not actually sure I'm on the list at all.)

    15. For people asking for similar dolls, the Dollspirit artist (she's Korean but lives in the US) has a new line of porcelain BJDS that look (to me) to be inspired by enchanted dolls look. They are very beautiful, can be ordered any time, and will come with your choice of customisation: wig, faceup and intricate body art. Here's the link: Dollspirit
      And main site: Dollspirit

I bought direct one of her more traditional Asian bjd style resin heads, so she's reliable and super nice.

    16. Excellent choice! I can't wait to see what Tanya does with your girl. I love her work.

    17. Agreed- $2900 is a lot.

Truth be told- I do not have anywhere near this amount saved up for dolls- nor can I easily sell off enough dolls to quickly cover it. Plus it is a big enough amount, my wife would notice the huge bank transfer. If I got one of the coveted emails, it would be a very long very difficult conversation indeed... I am probably not the only one.

    18. yes i agree. i didn't actually tell my hubby as i luckily had some money saved. and am hurriedly selling a lot of dolls to make it up

    19. That is lucky- I had some saved but spent it on my new (now late) Marmite Sue, a Serenade doll, and a couple of Kingdom Dolls. Doll money disappears fast...

I could sell a few things to try and save up again- but since there is only a small percent chance that I will ever be contacted, I could be in the position of selling my nicest dolls only to have nothing at all

    20. My girl is back from her face up. I think Tanya did a beautiful job. I made her a quick wig with some mohair I had left over and its actually still drying on her so I can't comb it out but her black alpaca is coming in the mail for a black wig. I body blushed and mani pedi her myself.

      A pic - :)
