1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Miriam first, I am so fine--new from Roxy Doll

Mar 29, 2007

    1. I dont like her face, i like her cuts, But i would prefer if there was no blood "dripping", just the red wounds.

    2. I like her. I'm still trying not to give into the temptation to get her. My El is a necromancer, and I think she'd make a great little ghost that he summoned, not an angsty ghost, but a fairly well-adjusted one. (I want to get him one of the the little OD vampires too...)

    3. I like her. But I would also like a version to be done with the same face up without the cuts. She is a very stylized doll and definitely not to everyone's tastes. Would I buy one? No - I prefer dolls that are more versatile and I think she would limit my choices in clothing and styles. Could I see why others would want her? Definitely.

I am looking forward to seeing some more clothed pictures of her on DOA - she could definitely make for some very interesting photo stories.

    4. I assumed her wounds were to depict self cutting, especially given her name. I'm really, really uncomfortable with that, especially given that cutting is glamorised and made semi-acceptable as a way of Expressing Uniqueness and Being Troubled now in the way that anorexia and bulimia were when I'm a teenager - hardly a productive approach. It really doesn't seem okay to me to try and make money from participating in that kind of glamorisation.

And if the wounds are violently inflicted by an outside agency rather than self-directed violence, I guess the question for me isn't really whether we'd react the same way to her if she was a boy doll - although it is qualitatively different, given different levels of power in the real world - but if a male doll would be presented to consumers in quite that way.

I'm glad the mods are restricting depictions of her, in short.

    5. To me, it wouldn't matter if it was a girl or a boy, I'd still find it interesting.

    6. She'd make a great Halloween doll display. Too yucky for me, but I can see the attraction for the emo crowd.

    7. Mmm, but I don't think that would be an accurate description of why she facinates me so. To me, I find her more ero guro then 'emo'. (Wh-Which is probably why I like her. <3 Ero guro)

    8. She looks like a "cutter" to me. And I find that extreemly disturbing. My first response is to hospitalize her to get her some help. Not a good role model.

    9. I don't think she was ment as such. Though, I wouldn't clasify half the dolls I see on DoA as good role models either. It doesn't make me enjoy them any less.

    10. Oh gosh, she's gorgeous! Though that slash on her boob looks so painful... I would still love one of her second edition though :)

This reminds me, I wonder if she fits Volks WTG clothes? That would be perfect, because I love her face and *gasp* she has double joints!

      love love love

    11. Do you have any other information on the second edition? My wallet weeps at the price, and I really don't need all the extras.

    12. Oh. :( I actually don't like that one as well. She looks like a cancer victim to me. (And that scares me more than the cuts do)

    13. Interesting, I've never thought of that... :P

You could always remove her cap and put a wig on her though, or wait for NotDoll to release only the doll (which they recently did with Lucy?). That might take a long while though :(

    14. I thought the same thing. I'm not a big fan of the cut on her head though. Other than that ask yourself what if this was a boy doll would you still think the same??? For those of you that found this freakish in a bad way.

    15. I've had bouts of depression on and off, when my father died, I stopped eating regular meals and only slept for a few hours a day... I could understand someone who has experienced such a great deal of hardships/loss actually not being able to communicate their feelings/frustrations and acting out violently on themselves. ( Not that I have. I could just understand why they would end up doing so...)

....this doll being a role model?
I think if people wanted to suffer phycially, they would do it without having to "research" others who do. It's sad when you have personal sites dedicated to glorify eating disorders, cutting and such... But... even if violence on oneself or others is not seen on tv or in the news... it would still be going on in the world. This doll reminds me of that every time I see her.

IMO, this doll would be so limited in character ( ghouls, ghosts and such ), but more of a display item.... because of the cuts. That's just my point of veiw. Of course, she'd probably be more amazing in real life. I'd probably decline to hold her though... :sweat

    16. This doll is way to disturbing and I'd never have it in the house with my children. They're onslaught with enough disturbing reality, gore and such in the real world for me to deliberately bring it into our home.

The 2nd doll is ok, she needs a different faceup and wig tho! JMO

    17. I really, really love her. :D

I can understand why most people think she's disturbing, but I'm pretty immune to gore, and I find her beautiful.

If I had the money I'd buy her right now.

But I'm not a fan of the cross cut on her forehead. Though I'm sure if someone were to request it, they would leave it off. :3

    18. They may be able to leave it off upon request, though even if they couldn't, the cuts are not etched into the resin. They're only painted on. You might be able to remove it yourself. At least on my girl, it's far enough away from her brows that as long as you were extremely careful you wouldn't hurt the rest of the face-up. :)
