Mirodoll Robert Downey Jr Minimee Discussion Thread

    1. OMG she is huge! Tony doesn't look intimidated at all. lol
      Congrats!

    2. He's looking great Ikke! Being Tony he just has to have someone to flirt with. I bet he hits on all your other dolls too ;)

    3. I connected up the LED to see how the arc reactor would look and I love it. It is pretty bright though so I may add a layer of something inside so it doesn't dazzle everyone that looks at it. Also can be hard to photograph the lovely blue color if it's to bright. I haven't soldered anything yet so that's why the insert is not pushed in to place yet either.

I also got my drill bit (the wood type like ikke has) so i'm getting closer to doing it!

    4. Uhh, yeah, the insert was supposed to go in the other way around, thus reducing the LEDs bright glare....
But just cutting out a circle out of a piece of nice white paper and putting that inside first will work too.

Now that my guy is here (+ the drill bits), I'll start on making my test holes in wood, and, if that goes smoothly, hopefully I'll have enough time to start on the box for the chest.

    5. I thought about that and may try it. I haven't yet soldered anything into place. I'm just trying to work out how to wire it the other way around without the metal casing touching the wires. Either way it's given me something fun to work on :)

    6. That is why the liner has sides, so no open wire can touch the sides. For the rest, using the normal insulated wires around the metal is safe enough. Heck, you could actually put the metal in the circuit if you wanted to; the power is low enough to be safe to touch.

    7. Right, uhm, running into problems here. For one my drill bits aren't straight. I will have to take them back and have them exchanged, be cause no one can drill will with crooked bits.

There is also a second conclusion I've come to; and that is that I don't think i'm skilled enough to drill this hole.
I haven't decided what will happen next yet.

    8. A little bit out of the subject, but for those of you that bought clothes for Robert, which size did you use? 1/3 or 70cm? I'm not sure what would fit best.

    9. I figured this was not going to be easy but never fear Ikke we will succeed eventually! Maybe we need a certain genius billionaire to give us a few tips? I have yet to try drilling anything with that bit let alone try the uneven surface of the torso.
As for cloths Yumi I got a few things from Iplehouse for SID boys. They are a little loose but not to bad. I also figured my SID guys can swap cloths with him at times so they won't go to waste. The boots I got on ebay and are a little big too but better that than not fitting.

    10. Yume, he definitely takes 70cm clothing, but of course they will be long in the legs and the sleeves. The problems are, of course, his wide chest and his sizable butt.
Ditto for the feet; very wide.

    11. It worked! I drilled a small hole in the center first them went with the 24mm drill bit. Now I just need to wire it up and fix it all in place and put him back together :)

I used really strong tape to tape the torso to the bench Ikke and it stopped it from spinning. It was pretty easy and didn't take long. Just make that small hole first as that centered the whole thing. Just go slow though or it will move on you.

    14. Now I need to do one for his hand lights!!

    15. Great video and he came out really well!!!
Can't wait to see yours assembled. (no pun intended ;) )

I'm going to have a pow-wow with my local DIY store guy and try to talk him into drilling my hole for me. I'm just too chicken myself!
I have an old chest from another Miro chest he can try it out on, so if it turns out he's just too rough, I still will have a spare chest to send off to a modder. But I hope to have him complete so he can go to the doll meet on Sunday!!!

    16. It is so exciting seeing them coming together. Seeing your vid on fb Doodles spurred me on to do it! I have to go out today but when I get back I want to wire it up. The bigger AA box is easier so I will try that first. If you have a test one Ikke you could try it. really once the little hole is drilled the bigger one stays in place. Just use a ton of tape to hold it like I did.

I taped it to the kitchen bench and as long as I went slow it was ok. I did a trial run on the spare torso then didn't even both unstringing his arms.
Hand lights sounds awesome Doodles. We are putting it on Ikkes fb page before here. It's great to have several places to chat and squee about our boys :)

    17. You need to photoshop Tony's head on that torture rack photo. That looks kinky Kavarr, :aeyepop: that poor boy taped to the table like that. :mwahaha
      Yes, I'm silly!

    18. Hehehe I should have put Loki holding the drill. Don't worry when Tony finally is in one piece i'm sure Lokes will have fun tormenting him in every way possible ;)

    19. Thought I would post the pic AngelToast sent me of my Tony's face up. He will be on his way home soon and I can't wait :)

    20. He looks so great, love the closeup. That facial hair is wonderful. I was waiting on money for a proper wig for Sherlock, but I put another doll on layaway. I'm such a bad bad girl, poor Sherlock is on the back burner - again. Maybe I'll start working on that bed headboard.
