It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Mistakes Made In The Hobby

Oct 16, 2014

    1. I did a faceup I really liked on my new 16cm tiny... my coworkers all mocked her and said she looked evil, like the bride of chucky so I wiped it. Now I'm just disappointed that I caved like that because I thought she was beautiful. My mistake: Caring what my coworkers thought of my girl.

    2. 1 : Not buying the doll that I loved because another doll that was ok was cheaper
2 : Caring what other people in the hobby think of my doll
3 : Getting addicted -Like seriously, I want way too many dolls it's not healthy anymore.
4 : Buying the wrong size of pants

    3. Buying the wrong size clothing, wigs, eyes, and such before a doll even was bought or arrived. Buying a replacement doll, instead of a doll I wanted and thought I would never get. Then later ending up with what I originally wanted, plus the doll I didn't care for- that I can't get rid of.

    4. My mistakes is buying my first bjd.
now I can't stop buying them and I don't know when to stop...
Second is buying some 18mm eyes for my MSD sized dolls, luckily I had SD coming a month later, and the 72cm size, but I don't know It would fit him or not, since in the official picts of the 72cm one only use 14mm eyes...

    5. oohhh, where to begin, I'm so bad it's a wonder I still have dolls at all TT.TT
      mistakes so far are

      1. buying the wrong size/colour of wig (which is not so bad), trying to fix it and ending up ruining it beyond repair (which IS)
      2. dropping the elastic after taking the head off and trying to fish it out again with pliers (poor doll still has "scars" on the neck)
      3. thinking a chip in the faceup was a blue-tack residue, trying to take it off and ending up enlarging it instead (hopefully a new faceup will take care of it... hopefully)

      and the most recent one
      4. wrapping the dolls in newspaper sheets when moving home and ending up with ink stains ALL OVER them

    6. Using a bracelet from india as a Choker necklace, it had red string, that stained the neck, Never trust colored string.

    7. I like seeing how things are made so the first thing I did when I got my first doll was taking her apart and restring her.
This resulted in chipping to her wrists and ankles from the wire I used to pull the elastic, and I also had to redo it because short after I noticed her thighs were on backwards
I also bought her new elastic but got the wrong size (which actually suits her much better) and also didn't get enough of it, I don't know if the seller cut it too short or if 1m isn't enough for an MSD.
I sprayed sealant on her because I wanted to paint and blush her, I tried it on her headcap first but I didn't notice it was a bit glossy. So basically now she's glossed all over.
I also tried to hot glue suede her, I managed not to burn myself. Don't really know what I did wrong but it didn't help her pose better at all, it only left this glue bits that gets dirty and flakes off.

Once I balaced my Brownie on the window of a moving bus :sweat time to get a blurry picture and she was on the floor. She got up as cheerful as ever with no damage at all, don't think i'll try that again though.

    8. 1. Thinking all SD dolls were similar proportions. Bought head and doll separately and they don't work together.
      2. Bought wrong size shoes for the same reason. Have lovely pair of boots that are sitting in a box. :(
      3. I bought my first doll head from a girl at Anime Weekend Atlanta this year because I fell in love with the face. Have UTTERLY FORGOTTEN what she told me the sculpt is, it didn't come with authenticity papers, and I'm afraid to post it in cast I got taken and it's a recast.

    9. 1. Impulse buying a doll with money saved for another doll I've been wanting for a while. So much regret :doh
      2. Not learning from the first impulse buy and buying a doll without thinking. It looked really cute in the promo pictures but gave me zero inspiration for characters or story.
I feel so bad for the poor dolls I bought this way, because I just was not excited at all when they arrived :pout: poor little darlings, it's not their fault I have no self control with cute limiteds

      1. Buying the wrong size of clothes for a 70cm guy, not checking first that he has odd sizes.
      2. Not buying my grail doll since I thought SD wasn't the size for me (I bought her in the end tho).
      3. Letting my grail doll her head in the box to long, while I worked on clothes for her body, having her body in daylight with another head on it. Uurgh for slight color difference now! But I guess eventually with thime both will yellow as much.
      4. Buying a doll from another company for my planned character because Dollzone was considered a 'cheap' company back in the days with just normal and neutral dolls with not so much characteristic. I still love them most tho and I stopped caring about others opinions on that.
      5. Not buying a fantasy doll because I thought they aren't for me. Now my dollfamily is complete but I start to want a cute hooved girl T.T Maybe some day!

    10. Bought tan jointed hands from Ebay to use for my Ringdoll. When I got the hands, they were much too big and the tan color was so much darker than my doll's color. Should have done my research first and compared hand sizes and colors. The jointed hands were awesome though. They were actually meant to fit Dollshe, I think. I actually toyed with the idea of buying a doll to fit the hands, but on second thought, that is crazy!

    11. I'm new to actually owning dolls, but here are a few of mine.

      1) Impulse buying. I see something and am like oh I have to have it! It's really bad now since I waited and waited on a doll and then when I decided to buy it they had sold out.
      2) Liking a sculpt but not having a character planned so I end up buying tons of different wigs, eyes, etc
      3) Spending more than I can really afford

I know they're are others, but those are the big ones I can think of right now

    12. 1. Impulse buying in-stock dolls. I used to not want to pre-order because of long wait times, so I bought a few in-stock ones. Now I realize that even though I thought I wanted them, I really just settled for them. I may even not like them as much because I didn't go through weeks of nail-biting toward the end of the wait times, followed by the endless checking of the tracking numbers. There's something more special about all the ones I pre-ordered.

      2. Buying DollHeart fukubukuros for smaller dolls. I got the clothes out and thought that I paid far more than they were worth. I've been happy with the 60+cm gift bags, but the little ones felt like a ripoff.

    13. Mostly just stupid noob mistakes:

      1. Ordering my first doll with no clothes, she was naked for a very long time.
      2. Buying a LE on a whim, I fell out of love with her after 2 weeks.
      3. Doing a faceup during rainy season. I didn't know it takes twice as long for the MSC to dry. When I put the face mask on him, the MSC literally pealed off like skin.
      4. Buying a bunch of expansive Dollheart outfits when I don't even have the doll to wear them.

    14. I still consider myself rather new to the hobby, but I guess I've had quite a few mistakes so far!

      1. Spraying MSC inside my shower in the bathroom with an old surgical mask
      2. Spraying MSC when it is humid, having it rub off, and then thinking that I could blend in the rubbed off spot with blushing. (Much easier just to wipe the whole thing.)
      3. Breaking a resin hook inside the hand of a tiny. (Luckily, I could replace it with a metal one, but the flexibility is not quite the same.)

    15. Well, 1 of mistakes done long ago was ordering Iplehouse EID Jessica mostly because of her realskin skintone and not ordering SID Cocori which I liked more. I thought I'll have time buy it but it became "out of stock" ) And my Jessica was sold to other person 'cause I realised it's not my type of bjd)

    16. The biggest mistake I have made is getting in to this hobby!
      Now the dolls own me!

    17. Trusting my doll to stand on her own outside while I took photos without someone to help act as a spotter for my doll. She face planted on to stone and got a slight dent in her forehead. Thankfully a super light sanding and some MSC fixed her up.

Also, while making a layaway payment I somehow double paid. My account was over drawn and it was a huge hassle to get the extra charges revered.

Buying a head I wanted instead of waiting for a full doll to come along. Now I have a head that I cannot match to a body. She was also damaged in shipping but I did not notice right away do to inspecting her in bad light. I tried to fix the damage and made it worse. Now I have to buy a body, pair for repairs, and pay extra for color matching when I get her facedup. She is going to end up costing me more than if I had held out to finding a full doll. :doh

    18. So far the most annoying mistake I've made is loosing the tail to my dollfactory dalsoo otter. :( it's been months and I can't find it!!!

    19. I bought a matte can of sealant on Amazon and did not check to see that it was actually matte when it arrived. It was so glossy that it was unusable and I did not realize it till I had sprayed 4 heads. The two mini heads were NS so no big deal I just W&N them and sanded them a bit with a Mr Clean sponge. My two bright colored girls, blue and green respectively, they got totally messed up because apparently the color in Miro dolls does NOT go "all the way though" after all, at least it doesn't with mine. I'm painting them up but I nearly killed those dolls heads trying to remove that stupid gloss...
