Most yellowed doll

Jun 14, 2021

    1. Hi! What age and brand is your most yellowed doll? Mine is a (on layaway) crobidoll Marie from 2009, she looks like a whole banana!

    2. Cerberus Project Delf Chiwoo from around 2008. Honestly he doesn't look banana to me but in comparison to my other dolls he's pretty yellowed.

    3. A french resin narae is the absolute ywllowest, but she started out as a pretty yellow/beige shade to begin with. Next WAS an old CP Luts Delf body but I gave it a bath of Polident denture cleaner a couple of months ago and its reduced the yellowing hugely. Some of my oldest Volks bodies could do with the same treatment at some point too.

    4. I keep all my resin dolls in my closet inside their respective boxes, so I haven't seen any yellowing, other than mellowing of the reds as it is expected of non-lightfast colors. However, my most yellow-BJD is my Dollzone Mo-Wen. He was supposed to be white, but when I purchased him DZ was a young company still (October/November 2007), and they had QA & QC issues; some people received mismatched dolls at the time from them. I had the suspicion mine was one of those, but he had a custom face up by one of "their" face up artist, so I didn't want to remove it just to test out my theory -- I didn't want to make it a huge deal either, because I did like him despite his custom face up not being anything like what I requested.
Here he is next to my SoulDoll white Bebe Aku quite a few years ago:

His face is yellowy as well on the photos, because he was never as white as the SoulDoll Bebe, but the body was much yellower. It's hard for me to tell if the body or head have yellowed at all, because they weren't the same color originally. They are kept in the closet, so there's no unevenness and appear to not have yellowed anymore than they were originally (to my naked eye). It's hard to say, but he's my most "yellowed" resin doll I own, but not due to the age of the resin yellowing over time -- that's just how I got him new from DZ.

    5. Delf Breakaway I got from someone who I suspect left it in a windowsill. He is a banana.

That said, yellowing is inevitable, it honestly doesn't matter what you do with your resin, it's going to change colour as it ages and some resin will change more than others. Hell, even oxygen causes resin to age. There isn't anything you can do about it either, just provide them with decent airflow out of their boxes, keep them out of UV light and ensure they don't come into contact with wildly fluctuating temperatures. Enjoy them, they're still beautiful even if they do change colours over time!

    6. Mine is probably an Iplehouse SID body I've had since like... 2011 possibly? I didn't think it was very yellowed until I bought new hands for it, and holy crap the color difference! :horror:

The yellowest doll I've ever owned was also a Delf Breakaway. I'm pretty sure the ebay seller got him from an abandoned storage unit, and he was located in Hawaii, so it was probably heat that did it? That doll really was yellow. I also had a Soom Dia that yellowed horribly, and I've got some thoughts about that too! I had swapped leg pieces with a friend's Heliot, and at the time both dolls were the same color. After several years though, my Dia was horribly yellowed all over except for those leg parts, which were perfectly white and pristine. It made me wonder if Soom used higher quality resin on their limiteds or something. :|

    7. My Kaye Wiggs Koneko who was a pretty sky blue is now more of a light pea green overall. I am not her first owner so I am unsure where she was kept. I have a second one that was airbrushed to look like Neytiri from Avatar and she still retains her blue color. The worst one I ever had that yellowed was an Angel Egg white resin doll. She was never outside and was kept in her bag and box. Se had extensive artist painting. Her legs yellowed badly and very unevenly. I sold her at a loss.

    8. My yellowest dolls just happen to both be oldies by Volks, and both were already yellowed when I purchased them on the secondhand market (and the sellers were entirely honest about this, by the way.) Both required some substantial work to fit comfortably into my crew, but were totally worth the effort to me.

The first was a Volks MSD F-01 Myu from 2002. I picked her up for a song because I was wanting to do a “rescue doll” and just couldn’t resist that cute face. I tried everything to correct her unevenly yellowed face (basically everywhere except where a long wig with bangs had obviously once been) short of a complete sanding. Finally I gave up and decided to turn her into the sugar skull character of my dreams instead, and just spray painted her head, hands and feet white to compliment the look of that style. I dearly love her now!

The second severely (yet evenly) yellowed doll was a historic Volks SD 4-sisters F01 Megu in white skin from 1999. This girl is so yellowed after so much time that with just a tiny bit of pink blushing by me, she perfectly matches her normal skin body! I absolutely adore her just as she is.:)

    9. Feeple70 Riff! Just got him two weeks ago from the Netherlands

    10. I have quite a few butter babies, but my butteriest one is a Volks SDC Kaede from 2004. Her sister, the sweet dreams version, is close in yellowness but not quite there. Behind them you can see hands from a newer (2010s) doll for comparison.

    11. I have a "first generation" Luts Bliss who pretty obviously had a rough life before I bought him as a 'project doll'. I suspect a part of that was a long stint sitting in front of a bright window in full sun.

He's actually a "real skin normal"-resin doll, but he's the ivory/vanilla ice cream color of an older white doll. There's next to no red tint left in his resin.

Muninn isn't "yellowed", exactly... but he has had a very definite color shift from where he started out.

    12. My CP Shiwoo (BW) who I bought second hand in 2008 is very yellowed. I believe he is from possibly 2006 originally, though can't confirm since I bought him after several different owners. But he is full yellow despite all my efforts to keep him healthy. Unfortunately it just happens naturally, and is worse/most noticeable with white resin. For that reason I made a pact to not purposely pursue any other white resin dolls. But of course, despite his condition, I love him to death and still see him as just my beautiful vampire boy <3

    13. Loving all these butter babies!

    14. This is so cute! "Butter babies"! Love it!

    15. I have two tied for first place - mostly because the head of one came with the body of the other.

My WS B&G Sapphira from 2008, whose head is on a Pale Dollstown 15y year body (second-hand, don't remember the year). The Sapphira was new from B&G, but was yellow new. Like, YELLOW. All the WS B&G I received new from the company was yellow, so I just assumed that was their "new" color. I never liked him on his body (it was too ripped for his sweet face) but I loved the body, so it went to a very unevenly green and yellowed Elf Chiwoo head I got second hand (poor thing was also modded to death and damaged). The DT body my Sapphira is currently on was bought "yellowed" and together they match pretty well.

They are by far, my most yellowed dolls.

    16. my dz Mo is very lemony lol. it doesnt look so in isolation but put her beside any other doll and yeah... very very yellow

    17. Hmmm.... Buttery Lemon is a good name for a doll.

    18. My first doll, Angel of Dream Chen. Next month, he'll be 14 years old. He's white skin, but he's so yellowed, he looks more like a pale normal yellow skin at this point, but it's a nice and creamy color, so it doesn't bother me the least bit!

    19. Pretty sure it would be my Volks SDCute Kaede, who I think was made in 2003?? My Volks Shiratori head and Luts/CP Delf Chiwoo are probably next lol but I'm not sure what year either of them were made. Kaede is yellower than either tho x) here she is:

I don't really think she or other yellowed dolls look bad TBH, I still love em! But they can be a challenge to photograph, some types of lighting make them look EXTRA banana...

    20. My two kid delfs from 2011 are slowly turning into a pair of butter nuggets. But it's not too bad and only visible when next to my newer dolls.
