1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. Depending on the doll, I'm somewhere between an artist and a collector; Ones which I sculpted from scratch, I'm definitely their artist, ones where I did a lot of work customising them and dressing them, I'm if not an artist at least someone who has had artistic input onto the doll. For the ones where I've not really changed much about them - Either kept their original makeup, or bought clothes instead of making them, I'm just a collector. And that's fine as well :)

    2. I would call myself someone who likes to play with them. They are dollified persons of favourite movie characters, and I love making their matching outfits and props for them. But equally I take them and pose them randomly, play with their joints (I find them simply fascinating), and marvel at their sheer beauty. I do not want to add more to them after Thor/Captain America have arrived. Thus, I would not consider myself a collector.

    3. Artist and Collector! I paint my dolls and mostly use them for photography and when I'm not working on them they sit on a shelf and look cute c: occasionally I might carry one around the house and I do change their clothes but I don't treat them like real people or really play with them. I also have characters and names for all of them but I still consider them to be "things" as opposed to people or kids. I don't see this as bad treatment, I take really good care of my dolls and I like them on display so other people can see them but I don't know what I would even do with a doll if I was to treat it like it was real!

    4. I like this question. I suppose I'm an oddball. Without a doubt I'd consider myself mother. I have no interest in collecting. Nor at all. And while I do consider myself an artist (wedding photographer by day, crafter by night) I don't use the dolls as art. I spoil them by creating art (furniture, clothes, etc) for them though.

    5. Darn. I answered before I read through it. I thought you meant mom in real life. LOL. I am a mix of artist and collector, not doll mama. (Although I was comparing the wait time for a specific doll as not as long as a pregnancy....)

    6. Meant to hit "mix of 2 or more" but accidentally voted "collector." Sorry!! I'm a mix of mother and artist. I love my boys and girl, and I do give them many human attributes, but I don't take them many places. I don't put them to bed every night either (they only have one bed). They do get presents on birthdays and Christmas though! I also make all of their clothes, which was why I got interested in them in the first place. I love making clothes and I wanted a beautiful model. Now I'm learning about photography and faceup art. I just don't understand it when people are only collectors! It's sort of automatic for me...when something has a face, they automatically give off a personality. I anthropomorphize a lot. :D

    7. I am probably a mix as well, I started off as an artist though, I LOVE how customizable they are, the collector in me says 'Don't touch! You'll damage them!' and the mother in me talks to them while I photograph them LOL

    8. Right now, I would consider myself a mother simply because of how much I love my doll, but, I can easily see myself becoming the other two.

    9. I guess I'd be a mix of all three, I dont baby my dolls but I do refer to them as 'her' or 'she'. I do enjoy making the clothes, but I find it hard to name them

    10. I'd definitely consider myself the 'artist'. Aside from actually being an artist (painting, drawing, modelling with clay), I make clothes for my dolls, make wigs (though they're not that great :P), I do my own body blushing and most of the time faceups, and I take photos of my dolls. I am also a writer, and depending on what my doll looks like at a point in time, they are most likely based off a character from one of my stories I'm writing.

    11. I think I'm mostly a mix of the mother and the artist, as these two have the traits that fits me most in connection to my dolls. I do however also have a few traits from the collector, as in a sense the dolls are still just objects to me, even though I love them to death :3

    12. I'm a mix of Mother & Collector ;)

    13. I am somewhere between an artist and a collector. I am actively collecting them, but also enjoy being creative with them. I photograph them, create stories focused around their characters.

    14. I'm somewhere in that mix of "artist" and "collector," myself. I love working on them, painting them up, styling their wigs, creating clothing and doing mods to bring them closer to my final vision for them. And then I also enjoy putting them on display, posing them where the collection is visible. I do talk to them sometimes (trying to persuade a troublesome doll to pose for me, for instance) and refer to them by gendered pronouns, but I don't think of them as "people," they're definitely objects to me, so I don't feel I fall under the "mother" category.

    15. I think I'm more a mix of Artist and Collector, with the tiniest hint of Mother.

    16. I don't consider myself a mother or an artist, even though I would love to be both, but I do buy dolls and keep them, so I've answered collector for now.

Hopefully, I'll become decent enough at face-ups and such that I'll eventually consider myself something more than a sad little doll hoarder. :sweat

    17. Im an artist and the other dolls I have I keep encased, however I think I decided which doll I want now (Soom) and I plan on mothering the life out of his little body lol!!
Pinocchio is going to feel sorry for this little man, once I get him heeheeheee...

    18. Ummm...I would say I'm between "Mother type" and "Artist type". I do care a lot (sometimes too much :D) of my dolls. They are like my precious friends or family. So I think, they have personality and every one has different one, also I always buy things for them equally. But I enjoy sewing clothes and taking photos too. I post photos of my dolls with their new outfit, new accessories, new books, etc everywhere and feel so proud of myself that I do a new master piece.

    19. Mother/Artist but not specifically making art of the dolls body but of their costumes and poses. I consider my dolls my boys, therefore I'm their mom. I do care a lot about them.I have more than I originally thought I would but I am not a collector. I'm more of a Foster mother because they will go on to someone else at some point.
I'm over 60 and my babies will remain with me as long as I can keep them but I can't stay with them forever.

    20. Mother/Artist. Why? I just have this feeling.... :sweat
