MYou 45cm - part II

Feb 21, 2022

    1. I’m thinking about ordering a Myou Daisy on the V2 new body, but after reading through this thread I’m a little worried about how she might pose and the rapid yellowing/potential greening (I would be ordering the coffee skintone). Does anyone have photos of or experience with how the coffee skintone ages, or experience with the V2 new body? I’m not opposed to hot glue sueding if it helps with the posing, but I’d like to know what I’m getting myself into before I buy. Thank you so much!

    2. I have only had her since March but my Chelses in coffee has not shown any signs of greening yet.
Myou coffee is not really a tan color unless compared with their own NS colors which are pretty light compared to other NS. So I don't think there's much red pigments to loose from it that would make her go green.

    3. For my Delia's v2 body I did end up having to put some work in to get her to pose well. My girl started with super tight stringing that caused her knees to buckle from the slightest movement, so I had to replace it with new string. For extra measure I even added craft aluminum wire in her legs to try and keep them straight. It's still not perfect (for me), as I still don't trust my girl to stand on her own without the help of a stand. I also narrowed down the issue to her hip ball joints being just too smooth so in the future I plan to add in some silicone kips to give more friction/stability.

Despite all that, I still prefer the new v2's double joints over the old v2's single joints any day. The ability to let my girl touch her own face and being able to kneel is a blessing I never knew I needed, and now I don't wanna go back, lol. If posing is important to you then I'd still recommend the new v2 if you also don't mind the potential rework.

    4. I have both the original and new V2 bodies. The newer one is much better but the ball still at the hip sockets is just as bad in it as it is in the first version of the body, sueding it helps a lot, but I wish they had just replaced that with a better joint too.

    5. Thank you all so much! This is really helpful - I’m very new to the BJD community but I feel like I’m learning a lot, and I really appreciate the information. It’s good to know it’s the hips in particular that are finicky on that body, as well as more in general about what resin tones have potential for greening. I think I’ll wait to see if there’s a Christmas/New Year’s event and snag a Daisy around then if so! I’ve been eyeing her since June and haven’t lost my love for her.

    6. I have a Myou doll in coffee skin. I got her in January 2021 and I haven't noticed any changes to the colour, definitely no greening.

I have another Myou in normal skin, had her since 2017. She yellowed quite a bit, there's a very noticeable difference between the exposed and hidden parts (legs vs joints inside the legs).

I love the coffee colour, in the Myou 1/6 thread I posted a couple of photos to show what it looks like a couple of days ago. I think it's such a lovely colour, if I get another Myou in the future I'm definitely ordering with coffee skin.

    7. Hello! I’m looking for pictures of these Myou 45cm dolls! I often see pictures of Delia and Michelle but not these three dolls, hence I’m looking specially for pictures of these three! If anyone could provide them, I’ll be very grateful!

    8. I have a Myou Doll Teresa head which has no face-up yet. Is that also what you're looking for or only dolls with full styling?

    9. hi! Yep I’m looking for any pictures of these dolls no matter what!

    10. Hello :)

    11. For anyone wanting photos of Chelses, I've posted some on insta for now. I'll probably do a post on here once I've gotten more, but hopefully this helps anyone looking for owner photos!

    12. I have 2 MYOU 1/4 dolls on the version 2-II body that arrived back in December, and for the most part, I absolutely love them. But in all honesty, these girls just do not stand. Their legs are constantly buckling under them and have a ragdoll quality to them, it takes several minutes to attempt balancing them, and even my secondhand dolls that desperately need restringing can stand easier than they can. This isn't a problem when they're on their shelf as I keep them sitting while displayed, but I like going on photo excursions with my dolls and it's hard to work with them when they're falling all over the place. For the most part, they feel too loose, but their heads always snap to the side and lean at an angle which makes them feel too tight?

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone with more experience than myself has any advice for me. Should they be restrung, or is this just an unfortunate quality of their body sculpt?

    13. It sounds like the knot in the elastic is stuck somewhere if the head snaps but legs are loose. It's a little hard to adjust that without restringing unfortunately (you don't need new elastic necessarily, just taking apart and putting it back together better), but if you're mainly annoyed by the head rather than the legs, sueding the neck hole will at least stabilise the neck issue. If the tension is fine overall but the legs buckle a lot, you might want to consider sizing up the elastic thickness for more stability in the long run.

    14. Thanks for the tip! I'm okay with the head even if it's annoying because I can usually get it to work, but the legs are horrible. They're very kicky, constantly collapsing beneath both dolls, and won't stay straight for long :sweat Maybe I'll try adjusting their current strings and if that doesn't work, I'll size up the string. Their arms are perfect, but the legs.....

    15. I have a doll that has similar leg issues - I finally restrung with a bit wider elastic than normal for the doll size a few days ago and it's as if she never randomly buckled her knees before - such solid posing all of a sudden! I feel like sometimes the string channels are so large they sabotage holding poses a bit.

If all else fails, you can also wire the legs! That should keep them from doing all kinds of unexpected movements.

    16. My friend with v2 did restringing, sueding and wiring before she could get hers to stand. My doll with v3 has this problem too but I just bought her a stand. I have read several complains about this from other owners. This seems to be a common problem with these girls. Restringing alone may not help.

    17. I have a v3 body, and restringing alone does not do much. You will probably also have to suede and wire the doll. Unfortunately, I think with MYou it's mostly an engineering problem (I'm thinking maybe with the ball at the hips, or there's not enough friction?), rather than bad stringing. :/

    18. Grateful for the suggestions because my Michelle doll does the same thing, which is why I‘m undecided about keeping her. The tension seems ok at first but she collapses like a Victorian maiden on the fainting couch. I hope you figure out a solution!

    19. Lol, very accurate description. I have handled plenty of floppy dolls, and the myou legs don't feel floppy, until you try to put any weight on them. But they don't behave like tight legs either. When my girl is supported by her stand, I can pose her legs without them snapping into other positions or relaxing out of place. That's why I also suspect it's an engineering issue.
