they really are lovely, seems a shame to cover them up with jeans im making her, but she needs some long trousers if only for trying them on...

 

I'm now planning on getting one as well. Eee they're cute.

 

I just started looking at the Leroi dolls at Mythdoll and decided I wanted to ask for one for Christmas but I have a few questions about them first(and they're all really dumb questions Im sure but Im totally unfamiliar with them and mini's in general)

Are they all exactly the same body and head molds or are they slightly different?(ive read conflicting info about this)

Are the bodies totally genderless(if so,do they lean more towards the side of more masculine or more feminine?)Or are they male or female?I havent been able to really tell whether some were boys or small chested girls.

Are there any suitable mini bodies to replace the body they come with if I dont like the one he/she/it comes with?

Also,the website says the doll comes with the eyes,wig,dress,box,cushions and certificate........but Ive heard from the people here that theirs came with none of that and they dont even know what the certificate is.Is this a recent change or do they still not come with any of this??I mean for $180, lack of eyes,wig and dress wont kill me but still false advertising is false advertising if they dont come with all of it.

 

yeah i saw her too and find her very pretty but wondering if she will have make up when she comes because i totally dont know how to do that. she is lovely.

 

My question: is there a quality difference? Yes Leroi comes eyeless, but why would she/he be so much less then a doll of equal size?

Leroi is $180, ARs are $364 (and the NMK are $299!). Eyes generally aren't half the price of the doll.

So what's the secret keeping this one so cheap? I saw some pictures nude, and I'm guessing it's lack of detail (no gender), but I could be wrong.

 

it's chinese based. 8 yuan is equivalent to 1 american dollar. it's just cheaper because our money is worth more to them.

 

I like chinese dollars........wonderful wonderful cheapness for me.Ok sooo there is no gender then...I guess I will be modding the body to give it some breasts.Are the bodies more feminine or more masculine?or is it neatly in the middle between the two?

Is the Leroi kit normal or white skin? I really like the idea of putting a doll together. (And it coming disassembled would be quicker for spraying/blushing anyway.)

 

Apparently, Leroi is very very pale, borderline paper-white, from what I've read.

I think that Snow and the Twin come assembled, and the other one isn't? Website is rather engrish-y.

I think that most if not all of the dolls dont come with eyes. Some one said the pictures on the site are all of one color but the dolls are not. So you really have to pay attention to what is included with the doll and the skin tone listed. Go to the site & read the forums too. appearently you can get make up for 35.00? for a least one doll, but I guess they email you after you pay. Not sure about this!

I'm glad we can get the doll at a great price too!

As far as I know, Leroi does not come with eyes (mine didn't). However they do come with wigs and outfits, including Little Leroi. I don't know what the certificate is ither, but I think it's just out of date. Some of their item descriptions need updateing (for example, I don't think anyone has recived a doll from them unassembled in a while. My little leroi came all put together.)

The Leroi dolls are angels, and if you ask me don't really lean toward one gender or the other. The chest strikes me as masculine, but the limbs and behind and all that are pretty much non specific. All of the Leroi dolls are the same body/head mold. I don't know about the other 1/4 scale dolls however.

Also, this is important to note - Be careful about choosing which one of the leroi's you want. Little Leroi, the normal skin tone doll is very pale. Leroi Snow is amost as white as paper. The images on the site don't really communicate this too well! You might take a look in the Mythdoll database to get an idea of this.

Also, the defualt stringing sucks. The feet and hands don't have S-hooks, but the elastic runs though them. It's a big pain, and to remove the head you have to unstring the whole doll. I don't know where to find the right size s-hooks, right now I have my doll's feet and hands attached with loops of leather shoe lace.

The doll is a charm, however, and very very cute :3 Well worth getting eyes and trying to fix the stringing and all that if you ask me.

 

How pale is the normal skin compared to the pale but not white skin?Is it alot paler than the CP NS?I was thinking of buying the middle skin tone but its as pale as the DoD resin Ill go for the normal skin tone.What size eyes and wigs do they wear?And clothes really are included?I keep seeing conflicting answers and now Im really confused...How recently did you recieve yours with clothes Happybiscuit?

altho this has helped me some, i am still confused with the skin tone...

oh! and to those who own a Leroi...can you share with us how the doll is llike? like does it pose well? any problems/stuff you dislike about the structure of the doll? stuff that you like/is good about the structure?

I haven't met a Little Leroi, but I had in my hands briefly a Leroi's Twin (MINE) and a Leroi Snow.

The Snow was very pale but not a dead white like paper.

The Twin has more color, but isn't really bright either. She does not look out of place next to my DoD pair (fairly light resin) or my Unoa boy, but I couldn't tell you if she's lighter/darker, pinker/yellower, whatever may be different.

I've heard that little Leroi is the deepest skin tone, which is not very dark, Snow is pale (o'course) and Twin is in between.

The chest is like a slight boy, so not really noticable when clothed. Angel crotch.

My Leroi's twin came with eyes in a little round pink box; the Snow had an identical pair with an identical presentation. She has a dress and shoes and a wig, all pretty darned nice, especially for the price.

happybiscuit's my roommate, so I can compare her dolls to mine (DoC and CP)
The DoD skin is more pink than leroi's resin. CP resin is much richer; Leroi's pretty pale. Leroi can do amazing poses, and holds them very well! He's also easy to stand, in comparison to my boys. Also, when he stands or sits, his knee joints tend to 'snap' into place. I guess it's to support him.
We did find it difficult to find shoes that are small enough, since he has a smaller form than most MSDs.. but when his clothes are all a little big on him, it's pretty cute ^^
I guess what I did not like were that his hands had extra resin bits on them that need sanding off, but that's fixable :3 Also, happybiscuit had commissioned someone to do the faceup, and they had trouble getting the MSC to stick onto his resin, and had to sand his face before spraying to get it to stick.

You've all been very helpful!Thank you guys!!Im still trying to convince my mom to get her(Olivia-Rose :3) for Christmas for me but all I seem to be acomplishing is making my mom want a doll!O_o......weird.Come hell or high water I WILL be getting a Leroi though.......it just may be my mom's >_<*

The problem with MSC may have been humidity(hoping for humidity::crosses fingers:Oh well,I guess Ill find out all of Leroi's little quirks eventually..

So from what I understand:Its a crapshoot on whether or not you get eyes,Little Lerois now come strung,the more newly sent out ones come with a wig and clothing no matter the skin tone and the chest is male-ish(wont matter anyway,she's gonna get breasts)the resin is very pale and may be hard for MSC to stick to but in all they are good posers...anything else I may be missing?How much is the shipping for them?Can they wear clothes sized for MNF or any other mini(AR DOD ect)?

i've been looking around various sites and comparing doll stats, etc.

and i'm thinking of replacing Leroi's (normal skin) head with one that has pointy or elf ears....i'm considering [KID DELF HEAD "No.1003"] and [Doppel Asha]....but i don't know how that would look since they are a bit bigger than Leroi's head (17.1cm / 6&3/4in)...

anyone know other "pointy-eared" heads that would fit?

I can tell you right now ANY Kid Delf head, ESPECIALLY Elf Ttori (1003) will look like a bobble-head on a skinny little Mythdoll angel body. Mythdoll heads are quite small (about 6.5 inch wig measurements) and most of the size is in thei height (oval-shaped) but Kid Delf heads are on the large side (Al's nearly 8") and very round in overall shape.

Maybe you could get someone to sculpt/modify elf ears onto a Mythdoll head?

 

Get a Mini Fee head and sand the ears to a point, it takes about 5 strokes with the sandpaper &#8212; seriously. Of course you might have to open the eyes which takes a bit more work. There is also that Shuen head that was made to fit DOD bodies. Plus you can get a Sharmin head from dollmore.net, which comes with optional elf ears in two lengths in addition to human ears.
