Narae/Narin 43/44cm Mini Discussion Part 7

@rianne I saw your Instagram post and saw you were going to work on your prototype. Blushing my dolls is the extent of my artistic ability.

 

I lurk in this thread a lot admiring all your beautiful dolls but never joined in because I didn't have a Narin or Narae of my own. Well, I just ordered my first Narae! I saw the announcement in the BJD News section and panicked knowing that this is my last chance to snag one. Mentioned it to my boyfriend who encouraged me to go for it so I did. I ordered N402 and the classic body in light tan. I am still shaking a little after sending the payment, haha.

 

Congratulations @malvinas! I am glad you were able to snag one. I had much teeth-gnashing between N402 and N404 and finally decided on N404. I'd like to have one of each! Do you have any plans or storyline for your future Narae?

 

*Gulp* Well, I changed my order to Pinky White skin and I completed the payment! Bimong sent me a message asking me if I needed help (he is so nice).

It was more expensive than normal skin, but I really, really wanted the palest skin, and I'm not (too terribly) sorry! I'll probably sell the open-mouth Dandelion head when it arrives, and then the body can share the classic Dandelion head and the 406 head (I felt compelled to buy at least one actual Narae head).

Edited to add: choosing a head was so hard - I feel your pain @coleen and @malvinas! Ultimately, I decided that 406 was the compromise between 402 and 404. She has 404's fuller mouth (which I love) but has smaller eye holes that can be modded a bit larger like a 402's. But I hope that someday I'll find a secondhand 402 in a different skin color, because she is the "classic" Narae.

I feel guilty because of the expense, but I'm very excited!

@StellaMarigold I spent less time deciding to purchase my house than I did on selecting my Narae today! In the end, I think we were right in choosing the color that we really wanted. I think we'll be able to order other heads in the future. Bimong did say that he would still offer heads, hands, and feet.

Bimong is extremely nice, besides being a gifted artist. I think it would be so awesome to meet him in person!

 

@coleen thank you! Congrats to you too! I do, she's going to be the human sister and best friend of my reborn goddess (my minisup yisol). I debated between N402 and N404 because ultimately I love both (let's be honest. I love them all.) Do you have any plans for yours yet.

@StellaMarigold congrats on making your order! I think getting the resin color you want the most is worth the extra money!

 

@malvinas I do have a character already. Her given name will be Mercedes, but she goes by Mercy. She will join Octavia and Bitna as a student at the Academy for Creative and Performing Arts. She will be a voice & drama student.

 

@coleen - wow, it would be great to be able order heads, hands, and feet in the future! (of course, I can't order anything for a long time after this!). Honestly, I've been agonizing about it for several weeks. I'm relieved the waiting is over

Except now the real waiting begins!

I'm going to distract myself by making clothes for the doll I am keeping and some nice accessories and clothes for the dolls I am selling

 

@coleen Good choice of name! I love when girls named Mecedes go by Mercy (my mnf rendia goes by Mercy as well!) I saw the name in a book series I read ages ago and it stuck with me so I'm always excited to see it being used because I just love it!

 

What a coincidence! Growing up, a family friend was named Mercedes, but she pronounced it Mersa-deez instead of like the car.

 

Since it's the last order period for the new Narae40 I decided it's my only chance and to just go for it (thank you layaway )

Unfortunately paypal is acting up and keeps failing to connect to the invoice and telling me to try again later and I am so nervous right now. I've contacted paypal support about it and am hoping my order isn't canceled in the meantime

While I wait a zillion years for paypal customer service I need to get to work painting my poor floating heads in preperation!

 

Maybe if it continues to be a problem Bimong can cancel the invoice and send a new one. If PayPal doesn't resolve your issue, contact Bimong through Instagram and let him know.

 

Bimong wrote to me on Instagram asking if I needed help (I had cancelled my first incomplete order) and I asked him how I should pay (I was having problems). I never received an invoice before paying or connected to an invoice during payment. I gave him my order # on Instagram, he confirmed the order, and I just sent the amount to his email address with a note that it was for "payment of Order #...), and he let me know right away that he had received it.

That's good to know! If I haven't heard from paypal by this evening I'll try and get on to Bimong through email or instagram

 

Seems like others are having problems as well. I was just talking to Bimong on instagram yesterday and told him I'd pay "tomorrow" which is today, but my bank is having problems. I transferred more funds to the account connected to my card and even that failed a few times, and now the paypal payment through my card is failing. Ugh! I guess I just need to wait a bit and see if the problem resolves itself. I'd rather not call my bank and wait forever in line.

My girl will be a fantasy character, connected to water, though most of my mini sized dolls are humans. If I could afford it, I'd get another head as well and have two characters on the same body (human & fantasy), but I can't do it right now. Perhaps the second hand market will be my friend sometime and I'll find another head there. My 404 girl also has another faceplate (406) with a fantasy style face up, but that's just because she's a bit quirky and likes dressing up weirdly sometimes =she's a costume designer and seamstress. Naraes and Narins are so beautiful, you can do anything with them

I hope my hundreds of questions didn't push your questions out of the way! I know it is frustrating when you don't get an answer.

I don't know anything about a problem with N16, but looking at the heads on Bimong's website, it looks like the Ver2 has eye creases and Ver1 does not. They may have been intended as the closed mouth options for N402 (eye creases) and N404 (no eye creases).

There are a lot of 416 photos on Flickr, but it is hard to tell which is which. To me they are basically the same except for the eye crease, which itself may not make too much of an impact when they are painted.

I checked Instagram as well, but I didn't see many distinguishing between the two versions.

Come to think of it, you may be thinking of the Dandelion heads when remembering people being disappointed. Bimong had made a new 6.5" Dandelion head (the original was 7.5") and when people ordered it, expecting the classic closed-mouth head, some were disappointed because it really looks quite different. However, he sent them the classic head shrunk down to 6.5" as a gift, and now it is available for purchasing. He really cares about his customers!

 

Sooo, I just put the new girl 42C/kitty girl on layaway with the new body with swapable busts. I've always wanted a doll from this company, so I had to. I heard he's closing shop after these orders so I didn't want to miss my chance.

 

@marxwyn I was the one who ended up with a different N416 faceplate. It's a bit confusing because at the time, both versions had Ver1 in their faceplates. But based on how they're named now, I ordered Ver2 and received Ver1 (even though I'm 90% sure Ver2 existed first). D-storic said they stopped selling the original faceplate because they had trouble casting the lips (I don't get it, but that's what they told me).

The original name for N416 is Dreamer, so if you do a search on Flickr for "Narae Dreamer" you'll come up with mostly Version 2 N416.

Be careful when you search though, the original N416 "Dreamer" (which is ver2) didn't have eye creases. I believe Bimong changed ver2 quite a bit.

I personally prefer N416 ver2. I love her lips.

The N416 situation is a bit confusing. It may be helpful to ask Bimong if he can post comparison pictures of the two sculpts.

@StellaMarigold the last link that you provided is Version 1. Besides the eye creases, the two sculpts have different lip shapes. Version 2 has fuller lips, and Version 1 has smaller lips.

 

Okay I want to use Layaway but the site is asking me to select a payment, what do I do now? I don't have the funds for a full payment and there is no Order # either.
