I may just add another head to my order, since my current Narae has 2 different heads...…..gotta check the other bills first.

@StellaMarigold Thanks! I've seen those reviews too, and never encountered any of the more severe issues. The worst issue has been a very slightly lopsided paperweight. Most have been perfect.

As I said in an earlier post, I've got a bag full of Masterpiece and Eyeco eyes. I did have one pair of Masterpiece eyes where the pupil blew. I don't consider that a terrible ratio.

 

@coleen Same, one wonky pair here. Not bad at all out of like 10 pair. XD

Makos have by far the best quality control I've seen, so for those really averse to any risk at all, here we are. I actually like these so much, I'm thinking of swapping my girls back to mako for a bit. Tanit is wearing oz 016 + 012

 

@rianne thanks for the great photo! Do you typically purchase Oz, or do you have eyes in other lines? I was quite overwhelmed with the Mako Eyes site.

 

@coleen I like oz best, and all the eyes I've kept are from that line. Moon and dandelion are great too though.

 

How about the Owl eye?

 

@coleen I only ever had one pair and didn't find them to my taste. They're pretty though. There's a massive sticky somewhere here on DoA with tons of pics from all the lines.

 

Coming out of lurk mode to say that makoeyes are awesome but they don't always look like they do in the pictures so you might want to check out user photos to see what they look like irl. I used to run a lot of GO's for them so I've seen a lot of the colors and that was the only complaint that I've ever had about them.

 

@rianne I remember that thread now that you mention. @AaloriRian thanks for coming out of lurkdom to offer that information. I must say, I agree with your sentiment under your Avatar!

 

I just remembered that I started a Mako eye page on my blog. Not as helpful as the big sticky thread, but still relevant for you @coleen.

I'm planning out some Narae shoots, so does anyone have any specific requests before I drag all the girls out? If you want to see specific sculpt combinations, for example, I'd be happy to oblige.

 

Is your Saint wearing the Oz-023? Gorgeous eyes and the pics on the Mako website don't do them justice!

Now to figure out what color(s) to get. I'm debating on giving her fantasy colors or normal color eyes.

 

How do makos catch light nowadays? I used to like them when they were cheaper and they still printed the whole iris in (I have one pair from back then), but then they changed something and the new eyes just weren't up to par: they tried to make them more realistic and made them not catch light and the glitter they put in is was too big (for my tastes, I'd rather take shimmer, not giant glitter). I also got fed up with how I had no idea what colour I was getting, cause there weren't enough owner pictures with the actual colours. I figured that putting in a little more money, I can just get actual urethane eyes with amazing light catching properties, so I gave up on Makos altogether... And now I'm afraid to buy them due to my bad experiences. They always looked fine out of the doll, but in doll they went really flat unless the light hit them just right.

I've also had good an bad experiences with Masterpiece eyes. I have one doll that specifically needs a pair of their eyes because of the colour and I had the first pair until it turned dull and the pupils bled in. Then, I ordered a new pair and got a colour that wasn't even close. I had to send them back and ask for the correct eyes. They did send me the new pair but I got the feeling that they were displeased about having to make them look like their own promo picture. =__= Another doll of mine also wears Masterpieces and they've been fine all these years (10), though.

Now I'm wondering what eyes to get my N408... I'm thinking that for the most part she probably won't be needing eyes because of how little her eyes are open, but then there will probably be times where they will show, so what to get her... Her wig is also a problem as I probably won't have anything I could use as a temporary wig either, unless I want to make her a red-head like Avis. One of her mohairs could work for a while, but I'd really rather give her black hair.

 

@Yenna The newer lines like Oz, Dan, Moon, and Owl all have more of a shimmer vs the older glittery IB and AM lines and I really like those better. I think Oz is my personal favorite out of those because the two colors I have seem slightly more true to the promo pictures the other lines pictures seem like they've manipulated the saturation on them. They catch the light fairly well but still aren't up to full urethane standards imo but they're my favorite affordable eyes. The wait time is getting slightly long for them and with the price increase bubble I believe they're at 2-3 months now.

@coleen It's a daily struggle. I really wanted to get the new body but I thought I had more time so I went ahead and got another doll on layaway. Unfortunately there is no way I can do both so now I'm thinking about ordering the ballet feet and searching for one second hand.

 

I use mostly oval flat glass eyes in my Narae and Narin dolls. My favorite cheap source appears to have dried up, but you can the Glib eyes from several sources. Dollmore has them but mot a great stock right now. Kemper also has some: Glass Natural Flatback PW oval eyes - Glass Eyes - Eyes & Eyelashes

I usually use 8 or 10 mm depending on the eye size.

 

Does anyone know if one of the current resin colors is a match for the D-Storic "moka" of SeChan and HaRam? I have SeChan, but I wouldn't mind a second faceplate.

 

If you really want the new body contact Bimong on Instagram and tell him to change your order. I think you will have better luck finding an older classic body than the new. And, if the new body is why you want ballet feet.
